**January 2018 Check-in Thread**

A little more excited about the trip this week. We changed our hotel to Desert Inn and Suites just so we can be closer to the park for the inevitable melt downs that will come. Cuz they always do.

We will be at VGC with a check in Jan. 18th and check out Jan. 20th

I made a dining reservation and booked a birthday cake for my girls' birthday on January 11. We're trying out one of the new flavours - churro cake! We have no idea what other days we will be in the parks though so I need to book our breakfast at Plaza Inn but don't know when to set it. Decisions!

Can you tell me how much they're charging for the cakes? According to the cake thread on this forum, it's about $35 for a 6-inch round. But according to the Disneyland website, it's $60. Since that's a big difference, I'm wondering which one is accurate!

Jan 5th - 7th and staying at Hotel Indigo...
3 days away!!!
I grew up in SoCal so I went a lot as a kid, but now live in the Seattle area so haven't been in a few years. This will be my fiancée's first visit and we decided to make her first trip without kids. We're both super excited!!

Answering my own question about the cakes, in case anyone else is interested. They are, indeed, $60 now. The CM on the phone said the prices all went up and the cakes are more elaborate. Guess I'll post this on the cake thread, too.

You're too fast for me. It was $60. I have no idea how elaborate it will be but considering I spent $60 (albeit CAD instead of USD) on the kids' cakes last year I'm not that bothered.
What did you decide on for cake?

What did you decide on for cake?

I decided on a princess cake in chocolate with vanilla mousse filling. My four-year-old wanted a Belle cake, but they don't have a separate one for Belle or Beauty and the Beast anymore. Still looking forward to it!

7 days to go, cant wait to see the kids faces when we get to the airport.

I really wish now that i had kept this trip a surprise from my kids...That wouldve made it even more magical.

I am undecided on how to pack for the weather. We are people who usually stick to carry-ons for saving money and time. Generally, I wear a tank top and capris so they don't take up much space. This time the forecast is saying low to mid 70s during the day and 48ish at night. With possible showers. Those require two completely different wardrobes..so I am packing double? lol I don't have a day off until we head up to the airport hotel on thursday...I'll guess I'll just wait until the last minute to decide.

Oh, I know...I'll just layer DS and I with everything before we go to PDX, and then I dont have to pack any of it! :P

I know how you feel so your not alone :sad2:.....Were coming from Australia where its summer here atm and really hot, i was hoping for a slightly cooler change over there. We dont normally pack much when we come over as we shop when we get there but we normally fly over April/May.
I am so undecided what to pack or wear over there, the plane does get cool after a while so il wear pants over i suppose & pack a jacket.

I know some people already know this, but you can get a fairly decent idea of the weather for the next month on Accuweather. Just go to the "Month" tab for the city you want. It gives you an estimate based on current observations, and also gives the historical averages. I always find it helpful when I'm planning to travel. Here's Anaheim.

Stopping off 9th-11th for a quick couple of days in transit to Hawaii, looking forward to CA

11 days to go! I'm currently banished to the couch with strict orders to rest and drink fluids while recovering from the flu. So, in the moments that I'm not asleep, I'm thinking about the trip! Gotta say, I'm thrilled and thankful that if I had to have the flu, I did it, 2 weeks before my trip, as opposed to coming down with it just before--or during!--the trip.

My DH mom and son will be at the DLH the 9 to the 12 for my sons 7th birthday. We will be at the Great Wolf Lodge the 7th and 8th before we move to the DLH. So excited.

10 more days of work & 16 more days until we leave for the Happiest place on earth...
I really so excited to see the looks on the kids faces  especially our newest edition to the family DD1

What are you guys gonna wear? We will be there 26th-28th and right now it says upper 60s. Would Jean capris work? And short sleeves? And maybe a cardigan for when we stay after dark?

I’m trying to figure out what to pack too. We are there Jan 28-feb 4.

I am starting to throw some things In a laundry basket now. Leaning towards jean capris and bringing one pair of jeans and a pair of shorts just Incase lol

I’m a horrible over packer to start with Haha I have a bad feeling I’ll be really bad this trip :rolleyes1

I’m a horrible over packer as well! But we won’t have a car and will be traveling via train from San Diego to Anaheim etc. So I’m really trying to not have a lot of extra stuff to carry around!
