Today's Best & Worst regarding the All Star resorts is a great listen as it gets into some issues regarding how people view Values versus the other types of resorts. This is a great discussion about what differing opinions there are regarding value resorts.

I really enjoyed Pete's "minor" rant explaining how he feels about the AllStars versus resorts with more amenities. I also think the DIS team is quite fair in they're critiques of all resorts........The DIS team doesn't judge when it comes to WDW resorts.....they have their personal opinions........but don't we all :)

I also wasn't surprised to hear that the Grand Floridian isn't a resort on Pete's list to stay at......to stuffy. (I completely agree with him too).

Very interesting segment.

It was a great episode! My family is staying at the All Stars for the first time this coming January, so it was great to hear some of the positive opinions about the resort when all we usually get to hear is how negative it is. I'm actually pretty excited to be trying something new by staying there next month after the episode.

I stayed at both Music (for about 2 weeks) and Sports (for few nights) a long time ago (90's?) and they were fine. Not "upper crust" certainly, and the food courts were certainly chaotic/jammed/noisy @ peak meal times, but they were fine for "just a place to stay". But I wasn't paying "top shelf prides" either! I'm sure if you go in with our expectations managed, you'll be fine. Have a magical trip!

We are used to staying at Pop, so we are used to the "Value life" and are ready for that. I'm excited for the theme and the food courts to be honest. I've eaten there before and I did like them a lot.

Were they newer in the 90s? I did my college program in spring 97 and it felt like most people I spoke with stayed in the All Stars.

I would have to agree. My family has always loved the All Stars and they're really not as bad as people make them out to be.

@Alicenwonderment I show all 3 All Stars opening in '94 - didn't realize/remember they all opened same year. So - yes - they were all newer when you did your program in '97. And one of the appeals I remember at the time was that they were much more in-line price-wise with off property accommodations, so HUGELY appealing to many (including me).

Anyway - my stay at Sports was probably in '98 or so, and was definitely more chaotic than Music. At Sports, we were right near the front, near the Surf's Up pool. Plus, it was Pop Warner Week, so TONS of cheerleaders, sports teams, etc. We only stayed there a few nights, waiting for it to be time to move to OKW to stay with friends of ours in a Grand Villa - now THAT was AWESOME!! :) I also remember another stay at Sports in the TouchDown section since I first posted. Not really sure when that stay was, and don't remember much, except being in TouchDown. Didn't spend much time at the resort, or in the food court, because I was sharing with friends who had a car.

My stay at Music was probably early 2000's, now that I think more about it. It was before they went to charging more for the Preferred Rooms, so whenever that was. I had requested to be in Calypso (up in front), and ended up in Broadway, in almost the furthest room back. It was so far back, we could see Sports from right by our room. I was going to request to be moved ASAP (nothing else available when we checked in), but it turned out that despite the VERY long walk every day, it was so quiet back there, my friend and I ended up loving the location.

I also stayed at Pop once that I can remember (sometime early-mid 200's?), and that was also before they started charging more for Preferred Rooms. Had an AWESOME room that time - top floor in the 50's Section, Bldg. 1, right overlooking the Bowling Pin pool. Thought it might be noisy, but with the room door closed it really wasn't, was close to the main building/bus stops, handy for laundry, and even saw some fireworks at night from up there.

I don't have the best luck at values...was in the section one year at ASMU when the Pop Warner kids arrived on our last2 nights....the ones that were kicked out that year. AS-Sports---had to move 3 times to get a clean and a/c working room.

Whenever there is a Best or Worst story, some resort/restaurant/attraction has to be the worst. I would gladly stay at "the worst" resort on property. Being the worst at WDW doesn't necessarily mean bad.
