magic bands questions

We staying at the fort in April while my daughter is there for a competition, We are at the fort for 9 days and buying our park hopper passes thru the competition organizations, They will not send us the tickets in the mail, have to be picked up when we arrive there, will we get magicbands from the fort when checking in with out having purchased park tickets thru them?

Yes, you will get Magic Bands. If you use the MyDisneyExperience (MDE) app, you can customize your bands and they will be sent a week or 2 before you arrive.

Your Magic Band is also your room key (Fort gate pass), gets you into the Comfort Stations/Laundry Rooms and lets you charge at WDW locations (if you set it up). Once you get your tickets, they can be linked to your bands. You may be able to do it on the MDE app or you might have to have Guest Services do it for you.

Your Magic Bands (MB) are related to your cabin reservation. You can go into your MDE account and pick colors/names etc on your MB up until 30 days before your arrival date. At 30 days, Disney will ship them to your home address. If you don't customize the MB, they ship the default gray ones I believe. If you check in without MB's, you will get a default gray one at the check-in desk. You can also buy MB from places like the Disney Store online with characters on them, etc. (what we did).

You have to link your tickets via the serial number on them to your MB on your MDE account. So once you get the tickets, go online and do so (or your Guest Services/Concierge Desk might be able to do it quickly for you). But you can't make FP+ ride reservations until you have a ticket linked to your MDE account. That's the only bad part I see in this scenario.

Your MB is good going forward. They are offered with every reservation and some people get them to get all colors but you can decline them before 30 days and just keep using any prior ones you've got. We keep using the ones we bought a few years ago.

Just remember your Magic Bands will not be shipped to your home unless you have a US address. We Canadians have to pick them up when we arrive at The Fort.

Thanks everyone. Definently Canadian so I guess wont be receiving them in the mail. I was hoping to customize the bands but there is nothing attached t my MDE. That is why I was wondering if they were attached to tickets instead of fort reservation. Oh well I guess I will see what is waiting for us when we arrive.

YAY. Are you there for worlds or summit? Most of the other parents from our gym are staying in area and think we are crazy for camping. Its also a very long drive for us. Not our first time at the fort but first time being there for a cheer competition. Hope they have transportation to espn.

We’ll be there for the D2 Summit but also The One Finals. So excited to go back!

I know what you mean by having to have it. I saw the Cars 3 band online and had to have it. Only 2000 made so had to find it on eBay. Arrived last week. Funny how the kid in us adults comes out with Disney.

You should see on MDE that one of the steps is to choose your Magic Band colour and personalize for each guest - nothing custom though as everyone here seems to be purchasing elsewhere. Perhaps in time. I know we get ours given to us in a box upon arrival at The Fort.
