When to send out Save the Dates?

When is a normal time to send out the Save the Dates? I've asked a couple people and what they are saying doesn't sound far enough in advance. The wedding is in November.

I'm pretty clueless on everything I have to do.

Oh my goodness, me too.

Anyhow. For a destination wedding they say 9-12 months in advance. Our wedding is October 28th of next year and we haven't sent ours out yet. Not because we don't want to, just because we want to add some extra events and I'd like them to be on our website when we send out our save the dates so the guests can reference them.

The sooner the better is the consensus that I have heard when it comes to save-the-dates. With invitations it is 2-3 months in advance, but that seems a little close to me.

Thanks! People were saying four months and that just didn't sound right. I'm waiting for Disney to send me the official documents to sign so I'll probably wait until after that goes through. I did things a little backwards and got a date reserved before officially being engaged so I could have the date I wanted. But now I am officially engaged so all the planning is starting.

The biggest challenge with this is getting everyone's address to mail these to.

I think nowadays when women/brides do things traditionally it's more backwards. It's just so uncommon lately. It's whatever works for you. :earsboy:

With the address... Tell me about it. I'm dreading it!

I Just got a Save the date for a destination Labor Day Wedding.

I did save the dates 9 months in advance. I’m doing the invitations a little more than 2 months in advance :) hope that helps!

My daughters Disney wedding was just in November and we sent them in March.

Because mine is a big travel weekend (Labor Day weekend 2018) we sent ours out 11 months in advance. We have been engaged for almost 2 years so we may have been a little ahead of the game here :upsidedow

My husdband and I were engaged for 7 months, we got our engagement photos taken sometime in the middle of that time period, so we just sent them with our invites. We kept the invite istelf very simple so that our save the dates would stand out a bit.
