Arrived at VGF Today... No Room Available For Me

Arrived at VGF at 1pm today and dropped off our bags at Bell Services to walk around and enjoy the resort. We were booked in a standard view studio for three nights.

At 2:30 I get a call saying there are maintenance issues in two units at the villas and there is no room for me there. My heart sunk a little.

Then I was told I was being moved to a one bedroom suite on the hotel side with concierge level access (rack rate: $1,400 a night). To top it off I was given a $400 credit, 3 extra fast passes per day, plus a dinner anywhere on property on them!

What a fabulous way to start off the trip! Props to Disney customer service for going above and beyond. I definitely sounded dissapointed on the phone but did not push or make a scene- this was basically offered without asking.

So when is your reservation for V&A???!!! :D

That is amazing! I have to say, GF customer service seems to be the best around. We've only stayed there twice but they took minor "issues" and made them better in ways that went above and beyond. (We got a similar credit + FPs for having to move rooms within our room category because they sent the same room ready text to 2 families and the other family got there first. All our MBs worked. No upgraded rooms and dinner though.)

Wow! That is some SERIOUS compensation! Good for you and good for Disney!
Yes, it is some serious compensation.

And yes, it is good for the member.

However, I doubt that Disney is footing the bill on the compensation. In all likelihood, it is being paid for by the VGF condo association, meaning it is coming out of the VGF owners' budget.

That may be true. But I’m sure most members would want to be treated the same way, right? Because one day, it may be him or her in that situation...

I want to know where the OP went/is going to dinner. Seriously.

Victoria and Alberts would be my first choice!! And for those that have a problem with this? Imagine if this was YOUR Christmas treat for the family and "no room for you". Having witnessed hysterics at the front desk of some DVC members because of some stupid stuff? You all know what I'm talking about, right? Not having a DVC room at the DVC resort you were guaranteed a reservation at? As previously said what if it was YOU? I would be more than willing to pay an extra $20 or so overall to take care of things like this. We had a circumstance where I am sure it was a detriment to DVC, but they were so great...my take on this is the "pay it forward" type of thing. Be happy that someone got taken care of because of an unforeseen circumstance, this could be YOU someday.

That being said....did you go to Victoria and Alberts?

We just returned from Disney and were also bumped from our DVC studio room. We were moved to a concierge room in the main building( no other compensation but heck we were thrilled!). We gave no argument when they called over the phone to alert us a few days ahead of time. Something must have seriously been going on in a few rooms for them to have to pull them out of commission during this busy dvc time!
