Great update! You finally made it to Disneyland! I was confused about you mentioning the 60th merchandise as that was around in 2015 when I was there. But of course in true Disney fashion, the celebration lasted over a year...

Just popping in to let you know I'm still following along!

I had forgotten about the fires (unfortunately we have so many, but they are usually in the hills, which are far from my house), but I'm glad that the fires were under control when you came through the pass.

We picked up some peanut butter M&M's at the store this week and have yet to try them! The BWAI looks nice and clean, a little spartan but it will do for a place to lay your heads for a few nights. I'm glad you guys made it during the 60th to see all the festivities, even of they were dying down somewhat at that point.

Still catching up around here and you are almost on your way again!!! So exciting!!

Popping in to catch up just in time to see you are already in the world ! Hope you are having a great time! I'm sorry you were on hold so long to book your event. That is something your TA should have done for you.

It took me a while, but I finally got caught up again, just in time for you to be on your next trip. I hope you had an amazing time!!

I know your trip was kindly extended by a lady named Irma. I was thinking you probably had to scramble to get your classroom ready once you hot back?

Hm, I wonder if anyone is still here and had thought I might return to finish this TR off. :rotfl2:

It has definitely been a while since I was here and there are a few reasons but most of all was that I was suffering from a severe case of Post Disney Depression ;), even though our vacation had been extended by Hurricane Irma.
The other thing that really bothered me and ate up quite some of my spare time was the fact that my photobucket account was expiring and I wanted to at least exchange the photos of THIS thread, so that it stay intact. I hadn't thought about the fact that there were already several hundred photos up and it took like forever to finish the task.

But now after a few of my DISfriends have even asked if we are okay and we have another trip booked I am back to finish this TR and I already have the new one in the works. As soon as I have started it, I will post the link to it here, so you can follow along the trip that did not go as planned. :faint: :rotfl:

But let's get on with 2016's adventures .............

Day 18, August 20

Disneyland, here we come! - Part 3

There were so many interesting and fun things to discover in the shops that were connected to the Diamond Anniversary and we put quite a few things on our list to pick up later on.

All too soon the time for our reservation was approaching and we headed to the Carnation Café where we found a line out the door. Took a while to get signed in and then we were told that it would take around 20 minutes until we would be seated. We looked around the neighbouring shop, but soon returned to the Carnation Café, where we then were lucky enough to get some seats and waited to be called.

i-9Zz3sPv-L.jpg

It really took 20 minutes, but then we were quickly led to a nice table in the middle of the air conditioned restaurant and our server was soon to come by and take our drinks order, while we were still discussing what we wanted to order for dinner. Didn’t take long for the drinks to be brought and we placed our order for a starter we wanted to share and two main courses. It was nice to be finally back at Disneyland where our love for all things Disney had come to life and to know that we had 4 more days to spend in the parks. And before we knew it our starter,

the Fried Pickles,

Dill pickle spears dipped in parmesan and panko, fried golden brown and served with a

house sauce were served. That was something we had never seen on any menu before so we had to order it. And while we were still taking photos of our starter and tried the first bites our main courses were served as well. This is something that normally drives me crazy, but we were in such a good mood that we did not even blink. We just continued to nibble the Fried Pickles and eat our main courses as well. Tom had ordered the

Chicken Fried Chicken, Buttermilk Fried Chicken Breast served with mashed potatoes, country gravy and seasonal vegetables, while I had ordered the

Romaine Salad with Succulent Shrimp, Romaine, Avocado, Red and Yellow tomatoes, Hickory smoked bacon and blue cheese with creamy ranch. All three dishes were really tasty and we enjoyed them very much. Bill paid and bellies full we headed outside again and into adventure, well Adventureland that is.

We were not quite familiar with what lay ahead,

i-QjHBz9W-L.jpg

but when we saw the Jungle Cruise with just a short line we jumped right into that line. It was so fun to see the differences in the lines between Walt Disney World’s Jungle Cruise and this one and it was fun to walk upstairs and downstairs again while in line.

The ride itself was really fun,

i-7FjMKMT-L.jpg

i-926fcBX-L.jpg

i-whRgRhJ-L.jpg

even though there are not many differences to the East Coast version. Once we got off we strolled a bit further and finally ended up at Pirates of the Caribbean.

i-Jf6k3ZF-L.jpg

Even though it had a bit of a line it was a no brainer to get in line.

i-xvrGV4q-L.jpg

i-tFmzHTC-XL.jpg

The line wound around and around for quite some time,

i-WJ3fTwq-L.jpg

i-gvCww88-XL.jpg

i-sQcCtLx-L.jpg

but then finally we were assigned a row and off we went into a pirate’s adventure.

i-GtqDcs3-L.jpg

i-KvQ5Kxd-XL.jpg

Next stop Haunted Mansion. We knew that it was to close soon for an overlay, so we wanted to ride it at least once. Again, there was a bit of a line, but it moved fast

i-QkW5NCg-L.jpg

i-bHfXJ4x-L.jpg

and we found ourselves nestled into a doombuggy and off we went. It had gotten completely dark when we got off and we just strolled around and found ourselves close to Thunder Mountain and there was still a Fastpass available, so we grabbed them

i-qFz9kPm-XL.jpg

and walked around a bit more. We ended up at the Winnie the Pooh ride, which had no line at all.

i-FjmMKjq-L.jpg

Since there was a family with kids riding with us we changed rows to let them go to the front rows. Once we were done with the ride we were asked if we all wanted to ride again and since we all seemed to have time to spare, we did. By this time we were both getting really tired and we discussed forgetting about the fastpass, but then we waited just a few more minutes and finally headed into the line. Soon we were seated in the very last row and off we went and despite being tired we both giggled while being jolted around. Far too soon the ride was over and we were now definitely leaving the park.
We had missed the parade and fireworks, but we had made the most of our first park day.
From the front of the park it was a very short walk to our hotel, where we unpacked our gifts for our friends for the next day before we fell in bed and had no problem falling asleep.

To be continued ....

So glad to see you back updating!

As always you guys make so much of your days in the park and got a lot done! Looking forward to the next few days! ;)

Thank you, Alison. For some reason it took me so long to get into the Disney swing of things again, even though we both have been longing to go right back. :rolleyes1 (... if that makes any sense at all :rotfl2:)

We had a few FUN filled days at Disneyland ......... like no others. As it says in the title - trip of a lifetime ........ :wave2:

Day 19, August 21

What a day, what a day, what a day! - Part 1

We were up early, but not as early as some of our DISboards friends. When Alicia, leshaface, realized we were going to Disneyland she had made plans to meet up with us. So, she and her husband Daniel made the three hour drive to Disneyland to spend the day with us.
They were already on their way but there was still time for us to get breakfast. So, after we had had a shower we got ready to head to Denny’s for breakfast. We were quickly seated in a corner booth and handed a menu to decide what we wanted to have. It took a server quite some time to notice that we were where we were and she apologized and came over to take our order.
We both ordered Diet Cokes and she took our food order and off she went. Somehow I had a hard time understanding her and I guess Tom did too.
We both were soon served our drinks and then we waited for our food. About 10 minutes later the waitress returned with two plates. Tom’s looked strange, it had

i-v6wx4gH-L.jpg

two strips of lean bacon and what looked like an anemic scramble. And then it dawned on us what the server had tried to say and we did not catch, Tom had ordered the Fit Fare, the

i-QH7Jv8T-L.jpg

Banana Pecan Pancake Breakfast, Glazed pecans cooked inside two hearty wheat pancakes and topped with fresh banana slices, served with two scrambled egg whites and two strips of turkey bacon. I had ordered the

i-3dr5X25-L.jpg

Strawberries & Cream Pancake Breakfast, two fluffy buttermilk pancakes filled with white chocolate chips, topped with vanilla cream and fresh strawberries, served with

i-hTR5QFQ-L.jpg

two eggs and hash browns, plus two strips of bacon and we were still to be served the pancakes. We had almost finished the savory part of our breakfast when the pancakes came out. Both were nice and fluffy, with Tom’s less sweet.
We finished our breakfast, paid the bill and then headed back to our room. We texted Alisha and Dan again and they were getting close, so we told them to come by our hotel as we had some presents for them. About 20 minutes later they pulled into the parking lot and parked the car. To our huge delight and surprise they had brought along the younger one of their sons.

i-5Q4L83R-L.jpg

We went down to greet them and even though we had only known from the DISboards there was an instant bond. They came up to our room and we exchanged gifts and we were stunned when we opened ours. They had brought a huge box full of local foods, cookies, jam, honey, cheese, wine and beer. They looked through their goodies and soon it was time to head back to their car to go to the parks. We all got in and Dan parked the car. They had to pick up their tickets as it was a blockout day for their AP and soon we headed into California Adventure.

i-MMNPzFV-L.jpg

Soon we had made it to our first ride, The Little Mermaid ride. Their little son could ride it too, so we all got into our clams and visited Ariel.

i-Jtf5Bmc-L.jpg

i-DGP3Qz9-L.jpg

i-6hXBmp6-L.jpg

Once we had gotten off we headed over to Paradise Pier to ride Toy Story Mania.

i-Cpm8thC-L.jpg

i-BzdrBHC-L.jpg

And even though we know the ride from Walt Disney World it was great fun to now ride it with friends. Needless to say that I scored the least points and Dan and Alisha beat us by miles. Next stop was California Screaming. Lucky us there was no long line, but unfortunately Dan had to sit this one out because of little Quentin.
Up next was something we had heard so much about, the Radiator Springs Racers. Alisha led the way and it was just amazing to see how they had brought the movie to live. Soon enough we were walking along the line

i-h5Rg22L-L.jpg

i-r5gSzM9-XL.jpg

and then got into our race car. OMG, that was so much fun.
We were sure we had to do that again. But first we were to explore the area and the park a little more.
Then we moved over to the Tower of Terror. There was a bit of a line,

i-38fMK7h-XL.jpg

i-Db3fKrH-L.jpg

but it moved quite swiftly and soon we found ourselves watching the movie in the library and off we went to find our elevator. This one is the same as they have it in Paris, so it wasn’t all that new, but it was fun anyways, especially now that Tower of Terror got an overhaul.
Dan and Alisha made sure we did not miss out on another ride that is unique to Disney’s California Adventure, Monsters Inc.

i-G6z3wW3-L.jpg

We got into our vehicle and rode along, but since we chatted most of the time I did not even realize that the last character was talking to us. By then it was past noon and we were thinking of getting a bit of lunch.

To be continued ....

Hm, I wonder if anyone is still here and had thought I might return to finish this TR off. :rotfl2:

We're here!!

I love this picture!

This is a great sign! I'm a huge giraffe fan. :)

I was going to ask if they differed.
