Autographs without character meets

This year I have decided to do photo mats instead of autograph books. I recently had some mention that you can drop off the mats at a location (Guest Services???) in the parks, and they will gather the signatures for you. Can anyone give me more info on this?!?!? We have met all of the characters, many times, over the years- so I don't really need the character meets, as much as wanting signatures for the frames.

(My desk drawer is overflowing with half used Autograph books, that never get looked at again, from all the trips we have done coast to coast!! LOL)

You can give it to the hostess of Tony's and they will get you Lady and the Tramp's autograph. Never heard of Guest Services doing that.

I believe this is one of the many rumors that circulates online. Or things that happened in the past but have been eliminated due to word spreading online and a vast increase in park attendance. Or a combo of both
But no, except for some really extenuating circumstances, GS isn't going to go around and get autographs for guests. There aren't enough GS agents to do it for everyone

The way this person made it sound, they don't actually have a GS Castmember run all over the park. My impression was more of being a "service". As in they stamp the signatures on (or whatever means they would use) and you could pick up later.

I have never heard of anything like this in all of my trips and obsessive planning. So I am just wanting to inquire to find out if there is any validity to this at all.

"you can drop off the mats at a location (Guest Services???) in the parks, and they will gather the signatures for you."

What's the difference between this and having some random stranger in the park sign the same signature?

How would some random stranger have the same signature as the characters? They wouldn't. That's how it is different IMO. I had just never heard of this, and was looking for feedback as to *if* this is even an option.

An honest question then, do the different people that play the characters practice the same signature? I've wondered about that.

Yes, I have a feeling this is what OP read about. They used to do this on DCL, but they discontinued the practice. I've never heard of them doing this in WDW.

I was told by another person planning a trip to WDW next month that they have done it *at WDW*. This is something I have not ever heard of before either, so I am just trying to confirm or debunk for sure.

Yes.

Yes. There’s a binder backstage at each character location so entertainment CMs stay up to date on signatures and other important facts. CMs need to adhere to signature standards.

CMs in a specific height-range know the signatures for all the characters within that range.

Yep! We got a signature from Ariel in her mermaid form in Ariel's grotto, and then another signature from her in human form at CRT and the signatures are absolutely identical!

Yes, they do. The signatures need to all look the same or they wouldn't be unique to the character.

I don't understand why anyone would want character signatures for a frame if you aren't going to meet them?

I have never heard of anything like that and would be surprised if Disney is paying CMs to do it. Lady & Tramp, totally get and have done it.

If I were to do some kind of craft, I'd just forge the signatures anyway ... since you have them all in your drawer, just copy them, you could even do it with a craft projector VERY easily.

Or even cut the signatures from the autograph book out and mod podge them onto a mat! That would be kind of a fun craft.

We did a photo mat and it looks great, but mostly the kids love the memories of getting the signatures. They have lots of stories they tell about each signature.

Great idea. Mod Podge is such a flash from the past but I've just started using it again and forgot how awesome it was. You could even use some watercolor paint to antique the paper or make it an assortment of pastel happy colors.

AND the signatures from previous visits where they were actually signed by character would mean so much more!

As I have said above, I am just trying to find out if there is validity to it. I have never heard of it before this gentleman said it yesterday.

And you are entitled to your opinion. But with my children being older, and having been on so many trips, we will not be character meeting centric like I would have been in the past. This is their choosing. That doesn't mean that for Mom it wouldn't mean something to have the option of getting signatures of characters that we are not meeting. To each their own. The interaction during *this particular* trip isn't a big thing for us, but having the signatures framing pictures from this, and numerous other trips is a big thing for me. I am not going into all the personal reasons as to why- but my boys and I have been through A LOT. Last year was our first trip back to WDW after I left their dad. I was afraid it would have lost it's magic. But instead, it was the best trip EVER. So Mom (me) would like to do these matted photos on a wall in MY/our new home, and in the middle a board painting I am making with the tag line from Carousel of Progress. Because for us, and what we have come through, there is *always* A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow......

No matter what you've read from what someone posted they did, it is not practice done at WDW.

I think the only way you can confirm or debunk is to try it for yourself. Go, ask. Maybe you'll get a CM that will do it. Worse thing, they say no. No harm in asking
