***Riding out the hurricane at a Disney resort? Post your experiences here!***

I think they are the lifeguards filling in - At least, that's what my husband thinks. He said one of the guys is familiar from the pool area.

I expected a backlash after posting anything negative, but I'm very appreciative of the support. I posted right after the incident and was very emotional. Now, I'm much more "calm" about the situation and our grandson is really handling things well (after 7 trips up and down the stairwells to tire him out).

I'm really sorry that happened to your grandson. The CM that played with my kids today said she normally drives the boat, so they are definitely out of their normal roles. But that being said, treating others with kindness shouldn't be the kind of thing that requires special training. I hope tomorrow goes better for you!

Just started reading this thread. Wishing everyone well and safety.

This is nothing like Hurricane Jeanne that we were in while at Disney. Remember me and my kids being hunkered down in our room watching Disney movies. It was rainy and windy but no flooding...

Thanks for this thread.

We evacuated to Disney from SWFL due to my elderly grandparents not being able to travel well. The OKW staff has been wonderful helping keep everyones spirits up and making sure everyone has what they need to stay safe. Staff just came to sand bag our room as we are on the first floor due to the inability to do stairs with their mobility issues. We are really hoping that we have a home to go back to at this point as we were in the direct path of the storm during landfall. As disney fanatics it has been hard to be here without the joys of an actual vacation but like everyone else has been posting the staff has been so wonderful. I hope everyone else on property is staying safe!

I was there during Hurricane Jeanne as well, flying in on the day of the hurricane. I shouldn't say this, but I thought it was kind of fun. The parks closed for one day and then it was absolutely perfect at the parks after that. Nice, cool breeze and very low crowds as most people had evacuated.

At bwv Disney has been nothing but great. Great prices for buffets today lunch and dinner 15 dollars and breakfast 12 dollars. Adult prices kids are cheaper.
Yesterday was a very lite park day for Disney but they kept everything running at full strength. Space mountain they had both tracks running. Soarin looked like they had all three running. Everything was running that was suppose to run. Disney could of said it's a low day we are not going to open this and that but no Everything was running.

Once again disney has been great as expected
I totally agree. I will say about 4:30pm yesterday Space Mountain was at a 60-65min posted wait because they only had 1 side going. I, however, had snagged my husband a FP at 4:10pm for a FP return time of 4:25pm. He was done in just around 20mins and we went right onto CoP. But really just about everything was a walk on or I could get a FP for it (and even so lines weren't long). I had already had 3 FP scheduled as that was a planned park day already but it was fairly easy to get additional ones after that.

My daughter and grandkids aged 5&6 evacuated from Plantation Florida on Thursday. We got them booked into BWV on our DVC points. It took me a few days to get them rooms as everything would be booked up, then open up, then book up again. It ended up being two different reservations so she had to check back in to her room again today. She is reporting to us and sending photos- it took her 7+ hours to get there - usually a 3.5 hour drive.
They were able to go to AK Friday, and went to Disney Srings for lunch yesterday, left her car in the parking garage, and took a bus back to the resort. She's a single mother with little savings due to her ex being a good for nothing....anyway...she was worried anout her car being destroyed so I hope it's safe.
They came back to resort and swam that afternoon.
We gave the front desk our credit card info when she checked in and told her to treat herself and the kids to a good time, as good as you can when you worry you won't have a place to live in 3 days.
So far the cm's have been great, they have conference rooms opened up today with board games, wii, Legos, movies, coloring pages, etc.
They ate a buffet lunch that she was impressed with. Box meals are available to purchase as well.
She said in another conference room there was a magic show and characters were coming this evening. She later sent a photo of the kids playing bingo with Pluto.
Disney let the kids visit the arcade and play for free today.
Pizza from room service tonight.
She is so grateful since Plantation lost power last night.

I've been in the room almost all day, trying to fight off a cold so I didn't want to get any wetter than needed. I've sold two resorts (ASMo and ASMu) out of the cold/flu medicine, so apologies to anyone else who needed it! But people are still walking by the room yelling loudly to each other and leaning over railings. I'm on the third floor, when I had to go out earlier I wanted to stay as far from them as possible. Judging by the sound of it the rain has gone at least somewhat horizontal. And WFTV is now reporting it will be coming a lot closer to Orlando than originally expected.

I'm in the room alone, so I've already packed up everything I don't currently need and put it in the sink area. Planning to stay up until the worst of it is done, but if it comes down to it I have a pillow and spare blankets in the bathroom. Thankfully I'm short so sleeping in the tub wouldn't be too uncomfortable, lol!

Here's hoping everyone gets through it safe and sane!

So sorry you are stuck in your room by yourself and not feeling well! Hope you got enough medicine and you don't have to sleep in the bathtub! Tomorrow will be a better day! :)

Anyone at WL? I was reading on Facebook guests were told to leave the lobby and return to their rooms. Not because of curfew, but a possible leak?

Doing fine at Kidani. Lots of wind and rain, noted a leaking ceiling near the lobby area. Looks like storm now coming inland towards us. We have closed the curtains and ready to snuggle in for the overnight. The lights dimmed and flickered a bit a while ago but remain on.

@10:20 pm MSNBC reports : 75mph SUSTAINED WINDS @Orlando. You will get a break in the winds then the eye of the hurricane will pass to the left of Orlando ( 85 miles ) next couple of hours, leaving your area in the upper right quadrant of fiercest winds and tornadoes. Orlando is expected to lose power. Winds fields are HUGE and expected to last for the next 24 hours in your area.

Beware of Tornadoes, that's what they are saying for Orlando. Stay safe. You are getting the worst of the winds from Irma.
