Hurricane Irma?

Yeah, we may have been able to keep FD if it had been available during our rebooked dates. We had two strikes against us, to keep being able to go to a MNSSHP party like we were really wanting to we had to book in October as those were the only dates with rooms and party dates. Second, we were on a Bounceback FD offer, less dates offered than the general FD offer. So yes, it's totally possible for others to maybe get lucky. They tried for us but couldn't find anything for us with FD.
We stayed on the phone long enough for guest services to honor our free dining plan for rescheduled dates !

Thankful that the storm is weakening, and praying that everyone remains safe.

Its also wishful thinking that you believe the storm is weaking.

Putting aside my own opinions on the judgements that are being thrown around in this thread, stating that "the storm is weakening" is not wishful thinking, it is documented fact. The storm IS substantially weaker today than it was yesterday, and is forecast to (slowly) weaken further. Could that change? Sure. But for now the trend is toward weakening.

There's still plenty of bad news to be going on with; no need to be dismissive of the one bit of positive news that's been reported.

It is weakening, though I wouldn't say "substantially". Twenty miles an hour isn't much of a difference. There is a lot of warm open water between Cuba and the US to continue to feed the storm. It is still expected to hit South FL at a Cat 4.

Gov Scott is speaking at press conference.

True but it was going to be a 5. So that's something. 4 is better than a 5. At this point, it's worth grabbing every little bit of good news you can find

If it were my daughter I would want her with my friend, not a bunch of young, unprepared roommates.

I would have her go to your friends house. :)

Have her go with your friend and take her food, batteries etc with her. I imagine her roommates, who were unwilling to be prepared, may soon become "unpleasant" to be with as they realize they should have thought about this. It may be unnerving - so I would rather be with someone local, knowledgeable of the area and prepared.

Thank you for your responses ❤️

Hi I called Disney Reservations to cancel but since I am still seeing it on my Disney Experience app I decided to call Pop just to see if they were showing I was scheduled to check in and was told yes it was and that if we did not show it would be considered a no show on their side and we would incur all charges. I have cleared cookies logged in and out and signed back in several times and am still showing our package. I've called disney reservations since and was told that it is t registering so our account was noted again. Gentlemen said it is so many people canceling or changing and it could be the system is in overload.

How are you calling Pop?

So far, yes, a Cat. 4. But...a strong Cat. 4 (150 mph winds) according to reports and some skepticism that the storm has the potential to gain strength on its approach to Florida. I think cautious optimism should be exercised. Orlando is still in the storm's predicted direct path.

They just addressed this on cnn, the meteorologist said it is undergoing an eyewall replacement cycle, not to assume it will stay where it is now.

December is still in the Free Dining promo window
Dates were
8/21/17-12/23/17
with some black out dates
10/1-11/13, 11/21-11/24, 11/28-12/7

so if you move your trip from now to a date within the above dates you should still be able to keep free dining

I was referring to a hypothesis I had yesterday that this poster was commenting about. it either was or became inaccurate and I was clarifying that fact to her.

I have free dining and was very active on the free dining thread so know al the dates... unfortunately.... memories...

No one is suggesting otherwise. Naturally. But having it a 4 and then gaining a bit is still better than having it a 5 and gaining a bit. Silver linings.

Yes -- I heard the same on multiple other outlets earlier this morning. :thumbsup2

DIS is great, but I do hope/assume that people who may be affected are listening directly to their local authorities and news sources to get the most up to date info on non-Disney implications.

How are you calling Pop?

It happened to me also. I called and spoke with an agent to cancel everything. I also had to cancel MNSSHP tickets - they were cancelled but my hotel is still showing. I actually went on chat because I don't feel like calling and holding. She is emailing the request for cancellation and I'll give it another day (check in for me is Sunday). It's ironic that I was able to do everything on the Alaska Airline site with no problem, no penalty, etc. but Disney can't get their app on line to work so you can cancel with full refund (It's still showing a penalty for cancelling after the cancelation window). I try not to complain considering the circumstances, but it's still frustrating.

So, not to beat a dead horse, (and no offense meant to horse lovers), if I cancelled over the phone last night I can be confident that it is done even though I don't see it yet on MDE? I don't mind calling later to check, but hate to take up time from other people who really need to get through to actually make changes.
