We have just got back, we used touring plans and requested Samoa, we got Samoa! With an Oasis Pool view on the 2nd floor, so that was a nice result!

I took lots of pictures and video footage that I'm working through and putting up on youtube for easy viewing. Here is a quick one from our slider door overlooking the Cabanas at the Oasis pool (we rented one too and it was well worth it!)

Great pic! The cabanas are great!

We are arriving on Tuesday! Our first Poly stay ever! Just finished packing since we will be staying over at the airport tomorrow!! I booked standard so I am assuming we may be facing the monorail also! I booked months ago and didn't know about pool view.

Have a wonderful trip!!

For those who have been at the Poly over the last few weeks, has the monorail been reliable or does it break down often? To get to MK is the boat the best choice?
We took the monorail Saturday to and from MK and yesterday to and from Epcot. No problems at all.
We have not used the boat yet but I think the monorail is quicker.

At the pool. Glorious!!

I just got our room ready text. We got Aotearoa 3rd floor. From the room# I know we'll be on the side facing the monorail.
So it does seem like they are sticking to new view categories.
I think they are starting the categories also. They did not consider Samoa a standard view when we checked in.

I wish I knew how to post pictures from my phone! I really do like our room. You can hear the Polynesian music and the foliage is nice. And I love when the monorail goes by.

Sounds like a great room, glad you're happy with it :goodvibes.

We were at the Poly in May. We booked directly with WDW CRO and made our requests there. A "knowledgeable" friend said for online check-in, ONLY state time of your arrival, nothing else. She said if you state your room requests upon booking, then state room requests during online check-in, they cancel each other out.

I have heard this as well, but I have also heard that OCI requests override requests you make through CRO......so I'm not sure just what happens :confused3.

The Poly is amazing, you will love it! Have a great time and enjoy the Poly :wizard:.

Do you know if they've create any new standard room categories? Cause if they didn't, I'd imagine there are a lot of people who booked standard that will need to be upgraded.

I have been trying to add photos on here but have no luck. I will try Flickr

IMG_2975.JPG We booked a standard room for our July-August trip to the Poly and got third floor Samoa facing the Oasis pool. We didn't make any requests..and honestly we prefer third floor Rarotonga. When we checked in the front desk to see if our room was ready (it was) they seemed surprised that we were not excited about Samoa. Here's a pic of our views from Samoa at sunrise...Oasis pool view) We also liked our quiet views at Rarotonga (monarail and foliage) where we stayed this past May. We just select high floor and balcony when we do online check in. As long as we're on the third floor at the Poly we're pretty happy. We've been lucky with our locations.

Beautiful picture! :cloud9:

We are checked in. Room not ready yet and the CM didn't give us what longhouse we are in. She gave us a resort map and said we'd get a text with room number later.

Just ate breakfast at Kona. Relaxing in GCH waiting for pool to open at 10am.

Does the main pool typically open at 10AM during June/July?

What a pretty view! I'm sorry you didn't get your preferred longhouse, but glad you were assigned 3rd floor with a balcony. Hope you had a great trip :wizard:.

We will be checking in this Sunday and this morning I faxed a very general room request for a quiet room on the third floor. Now wondering if I should do the online check in and state request there as well or check in at the front desk when we arrive? This is our first stay and I'm getting a little nervous!

We've had good luck with the online check in requests, as long as they don't contradict the fax. Also have had good luck with the Touring Plans room request faxes, if you use that service.

What room view category do you have booked? Room assignors know what to do if you ask for third floor but a "quiet room" is a wild card request in my opinion. Might be hard for a room assignor to know exactly what to do there.

FWIW, the online check-in options are rather limited... things like upper floor, near tranportation, etc. You can't write in requests, you only have what's offered in the drop down menus.

I don't see any harm in doing online check-in, just don't pick a room request option that blatantly contradicts the fax. Or you can leave the room request options blank (that's what we do).

Rooms are assigned roughly 5 days out so you want to go ahead and do that if you feel so inclined.

One note, just because you do online check-in doesn't mean you HAVE to bypass the desk when you arrive. We'll usually still physically check-in, just to get a resort map, chat with the CM, etc.

My advice, don't sweat it - you're at the Poly! Have a GREAT time!

Is a King bed an option on the drop-down for on-line check in? If not, is it best to call. I don't belong to Touring Plans currently, but sounds like maybe that is a good option too?

Is this standard or is this odd: I went online to double-check my online check-in and realized I didn't specify my room requests. When I went to edit, the only options in the drop down were Ground Floor, Balcony, or Aotearoa building. Does that mean my chances for staying in a different building are slim? This is the first time staying at the Poly and we booked a Standard room with the "TA that cannot be mentioned". :confused3
