Anyone know if they're charging for packages yet?

I've been having packages sent to the Fort for years and have never been charged for a package pickup. December was my last trip to the Fort. Anyone have experience lately with packages pickup? Anyone getting charged? If so, is it the $5 that's been rumored for a while on this board? I'll be there in just over 3 weeks and have a bunch of stuff to order!

Does that also include deliveries from places like Garden Grocer? If so is it $5 per order or per bag delivered?

Should also ask, is that just for Amazon, or for all delivered packages? Might have to call the fort and complain...

It is all packages and is per a box/bag not per an order. Some are reporting it is just anything delivered to the front desk and others saying it was bell services as well as front desk.

Wow, almost defeats the purpose of buying grocery elsewhere, eh?? Maybe they're trying to make the prices such that people will get their 'needs' from the Settlement/Meadow's trading posts!!??

from what I have heard it is the $5.00 per package not order as in if your order is in 3 packages you are charged $15.00 not the $5.00. also from what I have heard no charge for Garden Grocer like preferred vendor for strollers

Mostly it is to discourage massive orders of other stuff at all hotels. People were shipping so much ups/fedex/usps was unloading pallets of stuff daily. The front desk was doing it as a courtesy and it got out of hand.

I just did an online chat with Garden Grocer and they told me "We actually do not face that fee by the resorts. I do believe that it is just FedEx and UPS packages"

1) Yes, we are charging.
2) The price is $5 PER PACKAGE.
3) The reason is simple:
. . . the Bell Services are now contracted
. . . the contractor wants to make money
. . . charging for labor is their income
4) This first started at Convention Resort Hotels (ie: GF, CR, YC/BC)
. . . contracted Business Center
. . . contracted Bell Services
. . . contracted Valet Parking
5) People accepted the charges and did not complain.
6) Now, all Deluxe resort have contracted services.
7) And, it is going property-wide, including Value-Mod-DVC.
. . . cheaper labor
. . . less fringe costs
. . . can be re-quoted often

Just a FYI as I'm here at the Fort right now. Picked up 4 packages at the front desk last night and nary a mention about paying anything for them. I was all prepared to act surprised and argue about a $5/package charge, but they just handed them to me and said have a great night. I have 1 more package coming next week, so we'll see if it's the same.

PIXIE DUST is always nice . . . I have, personally, received several complaints when we charged for package receipt/delivery.

We were there last winter (Jan, Feb 2017) & I had an opportunity to talk to one of the Fort management about the fee. What I was told is that they had 4 people assigned to handle nothing but packages coming in and that the volume of shipments was at least 1 box truck to the Fort daily. The $5 fee is just to defray the cost of handling. No charge for USPS mail coming in (which is good). If it's simply UPS stuff, there is a UPS store just off property. The downside is that place wants $10/each.

There is a new Amazon service called Amazon Lockers. One in Windimere and one south on 535 & World Center Drive. I think that's what I'm going to use.

I've never heard of Amazon Lockers, but it sounds interesting! Please let us know how it works if you try it out!

I used the Locker several times during our trip over Christmas. They are great! Easy to use. Only problem is it seems they are used a lot around Disney, so sometimes you get an error saying that the Locker is full, so you can't ship it there. Luckily enough, there are several lockers around LBV, so you can just try and have your package sent to another Locker. Great way to save some money!
