ABCs of A Trip Worth Waiting For + PNWMM: P: A Practically Perfect Pacific NW Mouse Meet- pg. 26

I saw the goats on FB and I saw them here, I can't even imagine, but they look cute. I'm not sure I want to know why you were happy to have put the tarp down!

They decimate ivy and blackberries, both of which we seem to have a corner on the market of. As for tarps, what goes in always comes out.

F is for: Forever Forgetting

Warning… This update is completely devoid of photos. Enjoy the story.

**********************************

I have been friends with many of you for a very long time. Some here know me pretty well; some I’ve even met in person. Others I am just getting acquainted with. Regardless of how close we are, I try to be open and honest with who I am to everyone here. What you see here is pretty much what you get. (Even if things may seem mildly fictional at times.)

So, in the interest of keeping things real, I’m going to now tell you a tale of Dumb and Dumber. At least that’s how I felt. Some may pass it off as Tired and Tired-er, or Spacey and Spacier, but the day definitely had quite a low point. It began with Magical Kingdom visions dancing in my head, and I got up with that usual Disney!-LET’S-GO!-spring in my step. In case you do not know what that is, it is the perfect antithesis of how we wake up on any given usual Monday morning at 6:00 AM to get to work. I defy you to tell me you wake up with the same enthusiasm then as you do when you’re gonna be on Big Thunder Mountain in a couple of hours.

I might very well dawdle on Main Street or in World Showcase, but I don’t dawdle in getting ready to head out the door at Disney. I had showered (I didn’t stink, right guys?), got dressed, and headed off to breakfast with Betsey (@queenbetsey ) and @pkondz ...which was lovely. We ate at Tiffy’s next door to the hotel, but I am going to leave all the details and such to the (highly superior) writings of Ponzi. Suffice to say, I had a nice time and it was fun getting to know Betsey a bit better.

Back in the room for a bit of time before my next engagement, I started to gather up my park stuff (minus the Band Aids I’d given to a couple the day before) and thought to myself, “I wonder if I should take my camera today? I won’t be going on any rides really, so maybe I could get some fun shots along the way.”

You know that weird feeling you get when something just doesn’t feel right? That little inkling that something really bad is about to go down and be cringe all over the place?

I started to look around the room for my camera bag. Each passing scan over the room filled my heart with increasing doom and panic. As I began to think over things, I realized I had not seen my camera bag all day yesterday, nor all morning. I hadn’t planned on using it, so wasn’t really looking for it either. In a state of near hysteria, I checked the most idiotic of places… like the closet (that I hadn’t even opened since arriving), under the bathroom sink (because everyone has at one time stashed their camera bag under that), and inside my carry-on, where it wouldn’t fit (because you can’t possibly search enough). All to no avail. Reality sunk its ugly fangs deep in my soul, and the cold, hard realization of what I’d done settled in.

I had left it in the rental car when I turned it in 2 nights prior.

HOW!? How on earth could I do that with something so important to me?! My gear is easily worth around $1,000-$1500… $1,000-$1,500 more than I have to replace it; visions of it being on Ebay the day before consumed my self-loathing thoughts.

Panicked, I got online and looked up the number for Alamo, (Please excuse the prior error in the previous post of thinking I’d used Enterprise- it was Alamo) and then proceeded to be rerouted to a never-ending phone tree loop. After about 14 hours, I was finally put through to a customer service lady who gave me the number to the local office. I was informed that she could really do nothing to help me and to call them directly.

“Thank you, you’ve been overwhelmingly helpful.”

After I hung up, in utter disgust, I called the number she gave me.

<ring, ring. You have reached the Alamo Reservations line>

What the frick?!

I got the same recording and phone tree as I had just hung up from!

I was…. perturbed; that’s about as DISAppropriate as I can get here. I was not happy. At all.

Well, I was just about ready to head out anyway, so I did the only thing I could do: get an Uber to the Alamo office at DTD and ask if they had found it in the car.

It didn’t take me long to arrive, although at the time it felt like 14 years. I somehow managed to spew out a bunch of unintelligible babble that the nice lady miraculously translated into, “I’m pretty sure I left my camera bag in my rental from Thursday night, and I’m hoping, no PRAYING, you’ve found it!”.

Another 14 years or so later (she was helping the same person who was in front of me at $ixbucks the day before ), she called up the lot where the cars are processed and cleaned, and eventually they called her back.

The verdict was….

Yes!!! They had found it and “they’d send a runner over with it right away”.

Among other things, I am a very lucky girl.

Now, in my world “right away” has a certain meaning. You know 5, 10, 15 minutes max. Clearly, in Alamo Rentalcarland, “right away” means something altogether different. Under normal circumstances, I’d have waited all day for my camera. Today, I had a date, a very important one in fact, and was definitely up against the clock now for it.

There was no way in he!! I was gonna miss it, so I had to make the choice to either wait or come back the next day for it. I decided to give it another 10 minutes and leave if the runner hadn’t shown up. It had already been 15.

At the very last minute that I could possibly wait without missing our next event, he walked in the door with my gear. The lady remarked that I wasn’t kidding around- “That’s some serious stuff there! No wonder you waited!”.

With life’s order restored, I marched off through security at the DTD entrance and finally met up with my DISBuddies. I was elated that they had only just arrived themselves and hadn’t waited more than a couple of minutes for me. Huzzah! Crisis averted due to sheer dumb luck!

Coming up next: A meal to remember.

Wow! What a frightful start to your day! But how wonderful that you got it all back!

I am a bit confused about the goats. Did you not just get rid of your goats last summer? So, why new ones again?

I was so relieved! What a fright!

Sadly, one of the goats got suddenly violently sick last winter and died within 24 hours. The vet suspected either poisoning from a plant he shouldn't have eaten, or a brain something. He tried to treat, but nothing worked. It was excruciating to watch- just a horrible, horrible death. We didn't want the other one to be lonely so we sold him to a farm with other goats so he could have a herd.

OMG I'm so glad you got your camera back. Isn't this the second incident on this trip having to do with that camera?? (or am I blurring together your TR's..?)

Glad you made it to your meet on time because that's the really important part!!

I remember that something happened to one of the goats, I just thought that you sold the other one because you wanted to stop having goats. But I understand that you did not want to have him be a lonely goat. That would have been sad for him. I hope the new babies will thrive and that there is nothing poisonous growing in your yard!

Good that you got your camera and equipment back.It just goes to show there is still a lot of honest people out there. I can imagine what your relief was like when you were told that they still had it in the depot.Shows what a small world it is though to be held up with the same person that was in the coffee shop the prevous day.

Holy cow, me too!! But you're right! The Meet was far more important and special, as you'll see.

I remember that something happened to one of the goats, I just thought that you sold the other one because you wanted to stop having goats. But I understand that you did not want to have him be a lonely goat. That would have been sad for him. I hope the new babies will thrive and that there is nothing poisonous growing in your yard!

We actually debated quite a lot about getting new ones. They are a lot of work, especially for the kids on cold, dark winter mornings when they have to get up and stake them out for grazing. The kids are troopers for sure! But these are very different too. The last ones were quite wild not having been bottle fed from birth. The ones that are, are much tamer and WAY more easy to control and stake.

Good that you got your camera and equipment back.It just goes to show there is still a lot of honest people out there. I can imagine what your relief was like when you were told that they still had it in the depot.Shows what a small world it is though to be held up with the same person that was in the coffee shop the prevous day.

For sure! That would have been very disappointing indeed!

I'm not sure it was the exact same person, they holy moly they sure were just as slow.

I know while living through it on your end, it seemed like an eternity. I just went back in my call history and it only goes back as far as April 3rd. So I can't give you a real time frame, but from the time you called me to the time we met up was only maybe 45 minutes tops. We weren't at the original meeting point yet, and you got to the secondary meeting point at almost the exact same time as we did. It was all good! :goodvibes

I swear it felt like 9 years! Visions of 1,500 dollar bills clogging my toilet flashed before my eyes.

She got the only pastry that was appropriate for Main Street- a chocolate croissant,

Agreed, I had one last week.

Introducing: @pkondz (pkondz) and his daughter, Kay (HI, Kay!), and @franandaj (Alison). They’d pre-arranged this Meet for quite some time and, at long last, it was time to unleash some crazy amounts of fun.

Looking forward to the fun.

She did snap a few with her phone, but generally, she simply enjoyed her time together with friends.

I found myself doing this a lot on this last trip. Just quick pictures with the phone.

They all agreed that an indulgence of beignets and mint juleps was in order.

Yes! Love me some beignets. Luckily we can get them locally.

Don’t you agree we make a pretty good looking trio?

Yes I do.

Ho.Ly. Crap.

Impressive.

Mostly, she just sat in the shade and watched the inevitable late afternoon meltdowns and shook her head at the bad behavior around her. PSA: Know when to pack it home, Folks.

I enjoy people watching too. The meltdowns add to the entertainment.

Nope, no photos, sorry; Steppe was busy enjoying herself far too much.

Understandable.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you really should.

Someday.

Enjoyed sharing your day with friends. The meal sounds fabulous. Looking forward to me. I've never been to DL so everything is new to me.

Agreed, I had one last week.

I'm sitting here in $ixBucks right now and it's taking everything in me to NOT order one. Alas, Summer is here and the thought of looking pregnant at 50 in a swimsuit is... unappealing.

I found myself doing this a lot on this last trip. Just quick pictures with the phone.

It's definitely easier and more convenient. Honestly, I can only really real photography when I"m solo. Otherwise, too many other people to keep happy by moving. Taking photos is a "slow down" deal.

Yes! Love me some beignets. Luckily we can get them locally.

sigh.... if I want 'em, I gotta make 'em. More work than I can put out right now.

I enjoy people watching too. The meltdowns add to the entertainment.

I like me a good meltdown too, but when they pull the kids in, I just get angry and cranky.

Enjoyed sharing your day with friends. The meal sounds fabulous. Looking forward to me. I've never been to DL so everything is new to me.

Lots more to come. THe next meal was pretty darned amazing, if I do say so myself. Hopefully with my photos, you can get a nice feel for DL. :)

Warning… This update is completely devoid of photos. Enjoy the story.

This made my stomach hurt. Looks like we have "forgetting things" in common. My family is constantly picking at me for leaving my phone, glasses, purse, room key or glasses somewhere. Luckily I haven't permanently left something yet.

It's definitely easier and more convenient. Honestly, I can only really real photography when I"m solo. Otherwise, too many other people to keep happy by moving. Taking photos is a "slow down" deal.

I agree. Everyone kept leaving me behind when I would stop for pictures. The phone was much quicker.

sigh.... if I want 'em, I gotta make 'em. More work than I can put out right now.

I've never had to make them. If you every make it down here or even to New Orleans we'll have to go get some.

Lots more to come. THe next meal was pretty darned amazing, if I do say so myself. Hopefully with my photos, you can get a nice feel for DL. :)

I'm looking forward to this!

As I mentioned earlier, I'm so sorry I haven't kept up here! I guess I can't imagine anyone keeping two TR's going at once, so I'm trained to look for one. And yours is in the Disney World TR section....I completely forgot this one! What can I say? I'm an idiot. Anyway, I'll try and catch up now.

I grew up riding my bike all over town without the fear of foulplay, we rollerskated on Friday nights, and watched the boys play league ball on Saturdays. We had TPing-Each-Other’s-Houses Wars every weekend, and swam in our friends’ pools until midnight all summer long. I could not have asked or wished for a better place to grow up.

Sadly, Hemet has turned into a cesspool of filth, gangs, urban sprawl, and crime.

I know the feeling. I drove through the neighborhood where I grew up in order to show the kids my old house a few years ago. It used to be a nice middle-class neighborhood. Now, my old yard is all dirt, my parents' precious rose bushes are long torn out and gone, and there is tin foil over the windows. We did not linger.

Perhaps it is also that innate call to revisit one’s roots and find solace in the fading, yet familiar, places that still draw you there.

Well said.

I haven’t gotten to hit triples in a car in quite a while, and it was FUN!

:scared1:

The air became surprisingly cleaner as I went east, and MY HEAVENS! What was THAT?! That glorious yellow orb in the sky? Shut the front door- it’s the life-giving, joy-inducing, spirit-lifting thing we call the… Sun.

Never heard of it.:confused3

Applebees sucks

Quoted for posterity.

Originally, my plan was to just spend a couple of hours visiting with the cousins and my aunt after our lunch, but on the way to the restaurant, he informed me that she was planning dinner for me and EVERYONE was coming over- that’d be about 15-20 people!!

Well...good thing I packed nothing but sweatpants!

IMG_9731.jpg

That's purty.

Seriously, gorgeous area.

I found these to share with you, thinking that those of you who “wanna know” can dig a little deeper into the ultimate depths Disney goes to provide you with a believable, authentic story. I am thrilled that this particular one has a personal connection to me.

Very cool! I did not know that.

Who the heck steals a plane?!

Oh! That would be the “Mexican drug cartels”.

Well, then...asked and answered.

I’d wake to the scent of orange blossoms (yes there was a reason Soarin’ flies over my house and pumps in orange scent! Yes, for real!)

More Disney connections! Glad to see Imagineers did their homework!

That’s what money can look like.

That's about as close as I'll get to it, too.

D'OH!!!!!! You doofus! You used it to take photos of orange trees and left it 20 minutes back in Hemet.

Sigh.

(In case you wondered, it's where you can still see a hat.)

I'm happy to leave it there.:rolleyes1

Okay, okay. Only half of that is true. I’ll leave it to you who are still paying attention to figure out which half.

Hmmm, that's a tough one. Let me think about it a bit.

She felt no need to move the bed to bar the doors.

Not expecting any visits from the pizza guy?

“Liesa?”

"Yes?"

"You've just won the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes and will never have to work ag....."

Liesa?

Wake up.

"Liesa?"

"Yes... <recognizes friend> pkondz!!"

“Yeah! Headed to the park?”

“I am! You guys?”

“Yeah, hop in! We’ll give you ride.”

:woohoo: A DISMeet before the DISMeet! Those Canadians are so nice.

Because something happened to Steppe for the first time ever for her; the ride broke down and she was evacuated along with a bunch of others:

D'oh.

Don't worry, Little Ducky! Whales eat krill. And occasionally runaway prophets and wooden boys.

Oh, look! Krill!

Joy ride anyone?

Yes, please! I miss Mr. Toad at WDW. Still stunned that a Disney ride ends with a literal visit to hell.

HOLY CRAP!!!

I'm in THE CLUB!!!

1st post of a page and I didn't even try.

Woot!

#imacoolkidnow

That's because your readers are uniformly polite, upstanding people.:rolleyes1

What was it like in $ixbucks, you ask? While the staff was efficient, the customers were not. People! It’s coffee, not a custom Ferrari.

You wouldn't know that from the way people order coffee in there. I still don't speak Starbucks.

Introducing: @pkondz (pkondz) and his daughter, Kay (HI, Kay!), and @franandaj (Alison). They’d pre-arranged this Meet for quite some time and, at long last, it was time to unleash some crazy amounts of fun.

party: Now there's a cool group of people! Alison makes for a wonderful Fairy Godmother around DL.

@Poolrat - Hey, someone loves you; keep your head about you!

@GoofyFan1515 shouldn't deface Disney property like that.

They all agreed that an indulgence of beignets and mint juleps was in order. Why not?

Because beignets.

:thumbsup2

At some point, they stopped for a Dole Whip- because that’s what’s done. Every time.

Well, yeah.

Don’t you agree we make a pretty good looking trio?

IMG_3921%20-%20Copy.jpg

Maybe the two on the left.

There were 3 decided highlights of this day for Steppe, as far as things seen or done in the parks were concerned: seeing Carsland for the very first time, our dinner coming up shortly, and World of Color after that. But first, Carsland.

Ummm… wow!

::yes::

Alison surprised the group by making sure they entered through the “back way” so they could get a grand vista as their first impression.

The Fairy Godmother at work! That is a better way to enter, for sure.

This was one time Steppe did wish she had her DSLR at the ready… ah well… a perfectly great excuse to make sure she visits once again.

Whatever justifies it is acceptable.

The ice spheres are pressed for some serious wow factor, and it’s the little touches that push this place into the realm of dreamy and posh... yet comfortable.

Those ice spheres are just the coolest thing ever. I want one of those machines. I don't even care if I only use the sphere in glasses of water.

In fact, The Gang of Four over-ordered by a bit, but not to worry!

Calories don't count on vacation!

Exactly how it USUALLY happens when Steppe is anywhere within 25 feet of anything that has even the remotest possibility of it causing a 100-year flood all over the table. Oh, don’t worry, she was nice enough to spare the nice duds of her tablemates, but it was close. They still giggled at her; maybe next time she should aim.

D'oh.

Many of you may not know that Steppe adores the music in and around the parks. All of it. She often will find a bench and just sit and listen to the background music.

Still convinced this is the biggest secret to the success of Disney parks. Life is better with a soundtrack.

And then it was time for World of Color. If you haven’t seen it yet, you really should. It’s a gorgeous water and projection show, with fantastic music. Steppe would like to inform you that it’s her favorite Nighttime show after MSEP. That may change after she gets to see RoL at some point. Time will tell on that, but for now, WoC is pretty high up there. WAY above Illuminatons, but that’s another rant altogether. I’ll bet you’d like some photos.

The show is cool. The viewing area and the wait in the sardine pack beforehand? Not so much.

After a bit of chit-chat, Steppe learned that the gal also grew up in Hemet and knew a few of her old classmates' siblings. Seriously, SoCal is a BIG place- what were the odds of meeting someone with mutual acquaintances from a place you'd just been back to after 10 or more years the previous day?!

Way cool!

I also apologize for the slower pace of getting chapters up.

I should be thanking you for this! :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

I am determined... but.... well, taking selfies isn't easy actually. ;)

That whole lifting and pushing the button got ya stumped, huh?

I'm not usually very hungry until a bit later, so it was all good. The croissant at 10:00 was good timing.

Well, all right.

Hmm... I'll take Sashay for $1,000, Alex.

:rolleyes1

Why is it so hard to be on time? Seriously... get up 10 minutes earlier, or set your alarm or event time for 10 earlier. Not that tough.

I know! Geez. Set an alarm people.

How does only a few years younger than you make my "young"??

I think you just answered your own question.

I actually had to think on that. And came up with a goose egg. There really wasn't anything I didn't get to do that was on my very short list. The main thing were just enjoying new friends and seeing what I could on a busy day or two. And that ended up being a LOT more than I thought it'd be.

Good! See? You did in fact have a good time.

My shirt certainly thought so too.

 Didn't show, though.
You must've done good with the cleaning up.

Silly kid! You took it.

So I've heard!
Totally forgot!

Then, being we're only a few years apart, it's a pretty old lady (who sometimes farts) in there too.

:lmao:

But you're still younger.

Oops, you took out a very important part of that photo!

The top of the gazebo?
Why is that important?

So it would look better swirling in a bag a couple of days later?

Ew! Do not go there!
I might want that chicken again some day!

Except you didn't nearly run smack into the back of a lady because your head was in the clouds. Remember that?

No!
When was that?

No you didn't! What did you get up to?

I don't remember now. (No notes, remember?)

But I think it was around a dozen.

Do you know how much they charge these days?!

I meant the self-serve rock by the river.

No, but it was mortifying. Fancy place, swanky eats and servers with towels on their arms, and I .... spill.

Meh. People spill all the time.
Even in fancy places.

I certainly didn't mind.
I was more concerned that you wouldn't get to finish your drink.
I told you, they'd get you another.

Oh, getting technical on the math, huh? I was only half paying attention... there was a cheese plate in front of me.

 cheese trumps alcohol?

I find that hard to believe!

I fixed it. Sheesh you are picky! ;)

Actually, I was genuinely confused.
"I thought she wasn't a fan of Illuminations..."

But, hopefully that's coming to a close.

Pretty much. Just waiting for the money now.
Although there's a hitch... :sad2:

There it is.

Let's see. As far as I know, we're only going camping for about 5 days to the Sisters Area.

You're favourite activity!!

:rolleyes2

The girls (not me) are going to Arches

Nice. I'd love to see that.

Maybe someday.

I am going to the Pacific Northwest MouseMeet in mid-August and I'll be gone about 4-5 days for that.

Oh! Nice!
It lasts that long? Wow.

The boys gave several long weekend jaunts to climb here and there throughout the summer.

::yes::

My big one is in June to see my folks and do see some other sights. :)

Right. I knew about that one.
Have I told you that I'm coming yet?

No?

Well I am!

(If the invite's still open.)

You two, get your minds out of the gutter.

I seriously have no idea what you are even seeing. Looks like a biegnet to me. :confused3

Of course it's a beignet. What else could it possibly be???

Warning… This update is completely devoid of photos.

What??? I'm outta here!

Wait....
My next update will be pretty much the same...

<sheepishly sticks around>

some I’ve even met in person.

Regardless of how close we are, I try to be open and honest with who I am to everyone here. What you see here is pretty much what you get

That's what we love about you.

I’m going to now tell you a tale of Dumb and Dumber. At least that’s how I felt. Some may pass it off as Tired and Tired-er,

Not Dumb. Tired? Possibly. But Dumb? Nah.

it is the perfect antithesis of how we wake up on any given usual Monday morning at 6:00 AM to get to work

I wouldn't know.
One perk to being a shift worker is not having every Monday be a workday.

Mind you, the corollary to that is not every Sunday is a day of rest.

I defy you to tell me you wake up with the same enthusiasm then as you do when you’re gonna be on Big Thunder Mountain in a couple of hours.

Nope! Can't do it!

I didn’t stink, right guys?

Not nearly as much as you might be worried about.

jk.

the (highly superior) writings of Ponzi.

pfft.
I was relying on you for details.
My tale will be brief and dull.

I started to look around the room for my camera bag.

oh... no...

I even know the story, but I'm still on pins and needles!

And cringing!

In a state of near hysteria

I can only imagine.
You poor thing.

I had left it in the rental car when I turned it in 2 nights prior.

Oh, man.
I would've done the same as you.
Called 'em... and assumed it was gone.

visions of it being on Ebay the day before consumed my self-loathing thoughts.

Yep. Or being sold at a pawn shop. Or....

Anything but be mine again.

Panicked, I got online and looked up the number for Alamo, (Please excuse the prior error in the previous post of thinking I’d used Enterprise- it was Alamo)

This cracks me up.

Ever heard the term "A dream within a dream?"
How about an error within an error.

The previous post thinking it was Enterprise?

You thought it was National! (see next quote)
In case you need to ever rent and return a car at Disneyland, go with National.

:lmao:

I was informed that she could really do nothing to help me and to call them directly.

“Thank you, you’ve been overwhelmingly helpful.”

With help like that, you can be assured that they'll get extra kudos for their customer service.

What the frick?!

I got the same recording and phone tree as I had just hung up from!

:sad2:

Wow.

I was…. perturbed; that’s about as DISAppropriate as I can get here. I was not happy. At all.

No. I imagine a few choice words might have been spoken.

It didn’t take me long to arrive, although at the time it felt like 14 years.

Another 14 years or so later

Whoa. We're up to 28 years and 14 hours since breakfast.
You must've been starved!

she was helping the same person who was in front of me at $ixbucks the day before

They're everywhere...

Be afraid. Be very afraid.... or annoyed.

Yes!!! They had found it and “they’d send a runner over with it right away”.

No kidding! Lost for two days?????

Just in the nick of time. You must've been so happy to see your gear.. all of it, I mean. Not just an empty camera bag.
Or hadn't that thought occurred to you?

I was elated that they had only just arrived themselves

::yes:: And as Alison already pointed out, we got there just about the same time you did.

I swear it felt like 9 years! Visions of 1,500 dollar bills clogging my toilet flashed before my eyes.

Are you retracting one of your 14 years or adding to it?

Maybe the two on the left.

Yup. Agreed.

@Poolrat - Hey, someone loves you; keep your head about you!

@GoofyFan1515 shouldn't deface Disney property like that.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We ate at Tiffy’s next door to the hotel, but I am going to leave all the details and such to the (highly superior) writings of Ponzi.

No floor show like I had? Watching a mom at the next table go all Witchipoo when food is not brought out right or in a timely manner and actually goes to the kitchen to retrieve it was priceless. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Regardless of how close we are, I try to be open and honest with who I am to everyone here. What you see here is pretty much what you get. (Even if things may seem mildly fictional at times.)

Hey, me too! Except the exploding helicopters. I actually make those up.

So, in the interest of keeping things real, I’m going to now tell you a tale of Dumb and Dumber.

Just when I think you can't possibly get any dumber, you go and do something like this....
...and TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!!

Sorry, couldn't help but quote the movie.

That's just impossible. Never happens.

We ate at Tiffy’s next door to the hotel, but I am going to leave all the details and such to the (highly superior) writings of Ponzi.

But he's going to make me guess what he ordered for breakfast.

You know that weird feeling you get when something just doesn’t feel right? That little inkling that something really bad is about to go down and be cringe all over the place?

Yes! I call it "parenthood".

Reality sunk its ugly fangs deep in my soul, and the cold, hard realization of what I’d done settled in.

I had left it in the rental car when I turned it in 2 nights prior.

Gah! This can't be happening!!

What the frick?!

I got the same recording and phone tree as I had just hung up from!

Urge to kill...rising...

(she was helping the same person who was in front of me at $ixbucks the day before )

Wow. What are the odds?

Yes!!! They had found it and “they’d send a runner over with it right away”.

Oh, thank goodness! I'm glad it worked out. That would have made me sick!

With life’s order restored, I marched off through security at the DTD entrance

Excuse me, ma'am? You can't bring all this camera equipment in here. You'll need to find a place to store it.

This made my stomach hurt. Looks like we have "forgetting things" in common. My family is constantly picking at me for leaving my phone, glasses, purse, room key or glasses somewhere. Luckily I haven't permanently left something yet.

Same, same. It's been ages since I've permanently left/lost something; been pretty lucky all things considered. I think it was about 3 years ago I lost a nice black leather jacket somewhere. That one actually made me very sad.

I agree. Everyone kept leaving me behind when I would stop for pictures. The phone was much quicker.

The quality is decidedly suckier, but photography isn't a hurry-up-and-do-it kind of hobby. Phones work in a pinch.

I've never had to make them. If you every make it down here or even to New Orleans we'll have to go get some.

Sounds like a delightful plan! Haven't been to LA or NOLA since January, 2000. Cafe DuMonde did not disappoint.

I'm looking forward to this!

More soon but am needing to catch up on several TRs first....
