Running and Racing and Dancing and Chasing: A 2017 Princess Half Marathon Weekend Trip Report!

I loved your pictures and run through of the half! You make it look so easy and fun! Congrats on the Glass Slipper! It is a beautiful medal! And that drawstring bag is so cute! Great swag!
I am amazed you were able to go to the parks right after. :worship:
Yum on BoG for lunch! I love that masters cupcake. I had it for breakfast, lol. It was our only meal at BoG and I couldn't leave without getting one. :)
Your post-race queasiness at dinner reminds me of my friend who also did the half, and we met for dinner at Yachtsman. She couldn't eat a bite. Yachtsman is her favorite restaurant and she felt so ill at dinner. She took her steak back to her room though and ate it a few hours later. Is it normal to feel this way after a long run?

You are so awesome ... thanks for explaining all this ... there is so much information out there that it gets confusing. You provided us with specific answers......I truly appreciate that.
You are welcome! It can be confusing the first couple of times but once you get the hang of it, you'll be a pro!! And if they mess up his corral placement even after he submits a time, make sure to bring a printout to the expo so they can fix it (look for the Runner Relations booth if you need to do this).
Have fun training for your next running adventure.
Thank you!!
PS My wife is a 1st grade teacher so I totally get being a teacher-spouse. Her dinner stories about work are SO much better than mine :)
:rotfl2: Yeah it's interesting being married to a teacher, isn't it?? I don't think I could handle that every day!

Thank you!! :yay: It was a bit of a struggle but being in Disney helped! Easier to not focus on being tired/sore when there's so much awesome stuff to look at!

I didn't last long though!! :rotfl2: Hopefully the post-race park time will go a little better for me in May!

You made a wise decision. ::yes::

I really think it's different for everyone! For me...I do notice that my appetite is a little down after a long run (I experienced this after the marathon in January, but didn't have the queasiness - but I ate almost nothing all day after the race until I got to dinner and then just went to town :teeth:). But this time i think the queasiness happened because I hadn't done a long run like that in 6ish weeks thanks to the hip strain, so I think my body was just like "whaaaaaaat did you just do to me" and sort of exacted its revenge. Again, I hope this goes better for me in May!!

This was such a fun TR to read!! I feel like you gave me a crash course for what to expect. I'm going to read some of your other event TRs, too, so I'll feel like I have all the insider tips :)

Great!! :) One of my BFFs did the 2009 marathon and wrote a TR, and reading hers helped me to know what to expect for my first runDisney race...so hopefully this one is helpful!

I love the way you write. I hate to see your training reports and trip reports end. You make me feel like I'm there with you. Even though Goofy got cut out, that finish line pictrure was awesome! I hope to get something like that in January.

Congratulations on finishing another challenge and another outstanding trip report!! :worship:

If a Disney race weekend happened and there's no @Ariel484 trip report, did a race weekend really happen? :scratchin .

I was so sad to figure out that Dopey 2018 was not in your plans, how am I supposed to remember what happened that weekend without one of your TRs?:confused3

I guess you will have to write your own! :yay:

I just got caught up again. I love that you met princess Daisy, too! And I had to do a double-take at that color image of Steamboat Willie...weird...

I really enjoyed your report! Sounds like you had a great weekend, despite feeling sick and exhausted toward the end. Thanks for sharing it with us :)

Steamboat Willie was super weird, I think I did a triple take when I saw that picture!

I definitely had a great weekend! There were struggles but the good stuff definitely outweighed those! Thanks for reading. :)

Loved your TR. I definitely want to try one of these, but not sure I'd want Disney to be my first half...I worry about not feeling well after and having to lose any Disney time. I know in an ideal situation it would be nice to have the luxury of a long enough trip to be able to relax by the pool or something after the race for several hours...but when you are there it's hard to justify doing that...sigh. Congrats on doing it all, that's a huge accomplishment!

Thanks for reading! :)

Princess was my first half wayyyy back in 2011 and I don't remember feeling completely dead at the end then like I did this time. A big reason why, I think, is that I was better trained. Also, the challenge didn't exist then and it never occurred to me to sign up for the 5K, too - the half was my only race of the weekend. So just one insane wake-up to deal with! :) I loved having it be my first half though, it was so much fun!

Another great trip report! Thanks for
taking the time to share!

I got sooooo far behind with some crazy weeks at work and solo parenting.

It was so fun to meet you - amazing among all those people to see a familiar face in the corral that morning. Having someone to chat with calmed my nerves!

Congrats on a great race weekend - I seriously don't know if I could do the multiple races and the parks!

It was such an amazing race for me and I loved reliving it through your pictures. I miss it! For now I'll have to live vicariously through your TRs, but I need to sign up for another race (or maybe a challenge). I can see how these races become addictive :)

Thanks again for a great trip report - happy running!

Loved the TR! A big goal of mine is to do one of these challenges before I turn 40. I have 5 years to plan a trip that lines up with a race weekend, so I'm pretty sure it will happen. :) Have a great time at Tink in May!

So fun to meet you too! And I agree about calming the nerves, I needed that! :)

Well, I really couldn't...that last day in Magic Kingdom was ROUGH!

So obviously I am responding to this late, buuuut...it's almost TINK O'CLOCK! :tinker::tinker::tinker:
Thanks again for a great trip report - happy running!
Same to you! Hope to see you next weekend!
