2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Help!!
I am planning on eating breakfast at the resort after the half and then heading to Epcot. I couldn't decide at the time, so I currently have the following reservations: 3:25p Via Napoli, 5:10p Coral Reef, and 6:30p San Angel Inn. Which one should I keep? My thought was I can either snack before a 5:10/6:30pm reservation or after a 3:25pm meal. Thoughts?

Our plan is essentially to take Magical Express to AKL at 6am knowing we can't check in but will use the club level for breakfast before calling an Uber to take us to line up for the merch line.

You'll be able to do the check in process when you get there. Unlikely that you'll have a room but you can do the process. And I think you have to in order to access club level.

I'm flying overnight too, from Seattle. Arriving at 7.

Whats everyone wearing for the races?? I haven't given it much thought because I told myself I'd just stick to my regular running gear (capris and tank top) but after reading so many blogs and looking at photos from years past I'm thinking I want to jump on the sparkle skirt and tiara train! I know its late but I think I can throw something together last minute. Any suggestions of any shops that have quick shipping?

Charming Charlie's has nice tiaras.

Do you mean a sparklY skirt? Or a skirt from sparkleskirt? (They also have sparkly skirts but that's not what most people mean when they say "sparkle skirt")

if you mean sparkly, sparkleskirts' design is subtly different than sparkleathletic's. I prefer the look of SA. Others prefer SS.

Hey there Princesses! I have an expo question for y'all.

I remember hearing that last year the expo was like something from the Hunger Games - can anyone who was there confirm (or even better - deny) that? The only time I can get to the expo with enough time to get everything and do some shopping is right when it opens on Thursday, but I'll be alone with a 10-month old and a 4-year old. The kids are troopers and won't mind hanging out, but I don't want them getting trampled. If it's really a nightmare, I'll go another time and just grab my bib as quick as I can without any shopping

If it were me I would pick the 5:10 or 6:40 just because it seems more like "normal dinner time." :confused3 And sometimes it takes me a few hours to feel hungry again after a long run.

Info on last year's expo here...there's no guarantee it'll be like this for us, buuuuut...

I'm planning on getting to the expo sometime in the afternoon on day 1. Hopefully it'll settle down by then.

I just got a call from Disney. My mom and I were scheduled for POR. The CM said "Because of an error in our inventory system, would you be willing to switch to AKL?"

Um, I'm not sure I could a handle such a terrible downgrade. :rotfl2:

So, it's not the CL that I think @courtneybeth got, but I never thought I'd get to stay in a Deluxe! Very excited! Of course now I have to reschedule everything, since Boma is right there tempting me with breakfast...

This is awesome! I'm interested to know when you booked your stay at POR. We were at Coronado Springs until about two weeks ago and then suddenly rooms at POR (and others opened up) and I was able to get a military discounted Standard View. I wouldn't think twice about it but this late in the game and military rate standard view? That's crazy! I wondering if they had an inventory mix-up or something because the next day POR was completely sold out again. Very strange. Maybe I'll be getting a call? :rolleyes1 We love POR but I wouldn't pass up AKL again!

This is after the half, so I'd want to stick with a protein dinner to help with recovery. The 5:10 coral reef (fish) or San Angel Inn (meat) at 6:30 would be my best bet. You'll probably eat breakfast at around 10-11am, so maybe stick to the later time and grab a snack at EPCOT to tide you over. France has that nice little bakery place in the back or you can get a Croque Glace there too.

Pizza and beer (if you drink) sounds like a heavenly meal after burning all those calories!

YIKES! I am glad I am going on Saturday. I'm not sure I wanted to read that!

I think you and @Ariel484 are right. My original reservation was for San Angel Inn because I've never been there, but Coral Reef was my favorite restaurant as a kid and I haven't been back for a long time. We might eat at Blaze in DS on Friday night, so I think I'll cancel the Via Napoli.

Found this link in 2016's thread and it's SO funny. Warning: not exactly PG... https://sargentspeaks.wordpress.com...-marathon-as-told-by-the-emotions-in-my-head/

@disneydreamer23 has a good recap of the half...I'm having trouble finding which characters were out last year but her report has them for the half! http://runjennyrunreports.blogspot.com/2016/03/131-magical-miles-february-2016.html

Thank you for sharing!!! The Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust one cracked me up--it's like she has been living in my head taking notes.

@HockeyMomNH you are a saint. :worship:

OMG for sure "all of the photos" here!! :yay: These are photos I cannot get on courses at home and like you said, it's not like this registration was cheap. Allllll of the photos!! :teeth:

On the second Princess Report, she has great pictures with Fairy Godmother and Mickey in his princely tights. Where does this take place? I must have a picture of this MM outfit.

I'm a bit annoyed that they are limiting the early entry to only Thursday. That really stinks for folks that aren't arriving until after that time. I think I'm going to email them and make a complaint. They should have early entry for all expo days.

Oh yes, we got the weather yesterday and last night too. It's 47 here right now, feels like summer! We are not supposed to get as much here tomorrow as you are. 3-6 inches, I think. It's fine as long as we don't get any bad weather on 2/22 when we fly out. Then I can snow all it wants! haha!

Are you right in Boston? My DD17 just got accepted to Berklee School of Music, so it looks like I might be spending more time in the city. :-)

Congratulations to your daughter!!:cool1: That is not an easy school to get into. She must be very talented, and you must be very proud!

FGM looks like mile 12.5ish
Mickey is at the finish. They don't really like people stopping at the finish but I sure as hell will is Prince Mickey is waiting for me!!

Via Napoli is actually one of my favorite restaurants at Disney. I am going on Saturday. The pizza is really good.

Mickey is at finish sometimes....they rotate so it could be Goofy or Donald. Just depends who's out when you finish.

I was there about 2:30-3pm on that first day last year, and it was fine. We had to park really far away and walk about a mile (no joke) in to the expo, but there were no lines and no crazy crowds.
