Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Hi POP experts!

I'm staying for my first time at Pop Century for 4 nights in November. This is my first time staying at a value resort. I am a fairly light sleeper and I've heard a few reports that the beds at the value resorts are "scratchy" and that there can be a lot of noise.

I am planning to bring a white-noise maker with me to help drown out sound, as well as a pillow from my own bed. Will that squash the problems do you think?

I've read on these boards that you can fax ahead of time with room requests -- as a solo adult, what kind of requests could/should I be making? King bed? (Do they have those?) What floor? What building? (I don't plan to swim on this particular trip.) I booked a standard room, as I am trying to do this solo trip for a little less $$.

Any advice for a comfortable solo stay would be very helpful! Thanks! :)

I am also a light sleeper and have never had any problem with noise at Pop. That being said I never stay in a pool view room for that very reason. So I think with a white noise maker you will be fine.
The beds of course are not as good as a mod/deluxe but again they are just fine and I suffer from back problems. I would say if you want quiet I would request a top floor lake view room. This is just my opinion.

Hi,

I've stayed at Pop 4 times, with my most recent stay of 11 nights in Room 3430, 50's building, 4th floor, Lake view. I am a very light sleeper and of all the times I've stayed at Pop I have never encountered noise issues (except for hearing the occasional powerful toilet flush). I've never once heard guests in the rooms next to us; perhaps we just got very lucky having quieter neighbors! I've even brought noise machines and have not needed it :)

I highly recommend the 50's section building 3, 4th floor, lake view for a quiet experience! And yes, I also recommend bringing your own pillows since the ones on the bed are thin.

Have a fabulous time at POP....I hope you love it!

Is there a timeline for when each pool will be undergoing refurbishment? DH and I are planning a Disney trip for May 2017 and are considering Pop, but I am wondering if the Hippy Dippy Pool will be closed during that time.

Thanks, everyone!! Love Pop and love this thread!

I have stayed at Pop many times (9 nights earlier this month) and I have rarely heard noise from other rooms or outside the room. I also recommend choosing an upper floor, lake view room.

I'm sure there is, but nobody outside the inner circle at Pop knows.

We have only stayed once but had no issues with noise. We were in the first building outside of the main building, left side, upper floor, poolside. Even at poolside, we didn't have any noise issues. We also didn't have any issues with the beds as we were so tired it could have been a cement slab (which its wasn't of course) and we wouldn't have cared. As far as pillow...if you're traveling solo you should have enough to stack them up if you need to. I stopped taking my own because I kept leaving it behind.

I've stayed at Pop 3 times in the past and I always request ground floor because it is just easier not having to deal with an elevator since we have a scooter and a stroller in our party. I've always found it to be very noisy, especially the toilets on the upper floors and doors slamming shut. If you want quiet, I would do what the other peeps said and stay in an upper floor cause I did not think the ground floor rooms were the least bit quiet.

This reminds me of our stay at Wilderness Lodge and one of the reasons I don't care for WL (people were loud talking and running in the hallways there as well). Our visit last May-June at the POP had little noise but we were in a top floor room.

That's what we thought too. And we can also have cheese and yogurts... We'll double check with our doctor before we leave. Thanks for the heads up!

Awesome! If they don't have it at Pop, we'll just take a walk to AoA :) Thanks for the tip!

That would be great. Have a great trip!
Sorry for the delay in answering. We've been getting in so late I hadn't been able to check. Pop does have 1/2 gallons of whole milk.

Just reporting in, having a great time. Saw the Star Wars fireworks tonight, they were awesome! The bus line for Hollywood Studios was super crazy this morning, so we jumped out of line and decided to use Uber as we were going to miss our 1st FP waiting. It was just 6 dollars, and so worth it as we were there in 15 minutes.

No handles on mugs, most bus boards working, clock/radio in room.

I will say we also had issues with noise our first stay (our second wasn't as bad). We too ask for ground floor due to strollers in our party. The noise was def. an issue and woke us up at times, but I think we also had really noisy neighbors to our right and also right above us, so I'm sure your neighbors make a big difference.
