New Year, New Experiences! A January 2016 TR - I’m here at WDW! 3/25

Trying to get caught up around here!!! What fun times....and all the foood...and cheeese...and no, I don't think you can ever have too much!!

Beaver Butt lip balms or Moose Droppings candles or whatever they have in there

You're missing the whale blubber soap you know. 'Cause that is what we all use to bathe ya know. :)

The order you tackled Old FL seems about right! Pan is a must first off. Your little one is so darned cute! I remember the good old days when a carousel was all kinds of fun.

Fun morning so far!

What a great day so far! You all are really plugging along!

Calvin looks so happy!

How cool to get to MK that fast. The monorail is awesome.

LOVE Peter Pan! They do need a FP for it at DL.

I kept looking at the guy next to the bar and thinking, 'he doesn't look like an older gentleman?' Too funny.

You're making me want to go to MK right this minute!

OH alright here

600x600bb-85-jpg.196647

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: Perfect!

We have FP’s to use and baby parts to reveal!

Gorgeous shot! I love this angle.

Next up, since it’s right across the way, the happiest ride on earth and boy don’t we look ecstatic about it!

That's about how I look, too.

Yep. Directly behind the bar :rotfl:

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

DS really loved it and I enjoyed seeing him flinch and move when objects came out at him. It truly is the little things in life that bring me great joy:rotfl2:

Good for him! My boys still freak out in that one.

You and me both Kathy! I'm trying to catch up on everyone's but I'd like to get this one at least close to being done before we leave in under two weeks for Aulani! :scared1:

You're missing the whale blubber soap you know. 'Cause that is what we all use to bathe ya know. :)

Darn it, I knew I forgot something!

The order you tackled Old FL seems about right! Pan is a must first off. Your little one is so darned cute! I remember the good old days when a carousel was all kinds of fun.

Fun morning so far!

Pan is definitely a first thing! Ah, the carousel. That darn thing is going to kill me one day :rotfl2:

What a great day so far! You all are really plugging along!

Calvin looks so happy!

We try to go fast through FL before it gets crazy!

Um, yes you do ::yes:: no need to be modest.

Aw thanks Pam

The monorail is definitely my best friend!

We would ride Peter Pan so much more often if there was FP's offered for it at DL! We really never ride it unless we stay on property and can get there for a magic morning!

:rotfl::rotfl2:Yeah, i'm a terrible picture taker!

:thumbsup2

Gorgeous shot! I love this angle.

Me too! Looks so massive.

That's about how I look, too.

What I love doing is watching the boats come in after their journey. Everyone looks dead :rotfl2:

I think you need to give me a few pointers on how to take pictures. Even your kids could do better than me!

Good for him! My boys still freak out in that one.

Glad to know the flinching will stick around for a while!

I love your DH's sweater! Mind you, I'm a Sydney fan... but it's always funny to see Australian football represented in the USA.

Okay so the thing with the sweater is, DH swore we were having a girl and we were going to name her 'Adelaide'. Well, I couldn't stop him from getting it because that would give it away that it wasn't a girl so I pretty much had to let him get it! :rotfl:

Broccoliville!

Soon it was time for DM and DH to ride BTMRR….TWICE! So what do I do with all that time with a 3 year old?

And it was perfect for the 25 minutes that we waited

But it was tough to get him to leave this little area so we bribed him of course with a Pressed Penny!

By this time it was only 11:15am, but we were hungry! So we headed on down to Broccoliville (aka Columbia Harbor House) Big shoutout to @TheLittleKatie who gave it that phenomenal name!

We had never eaten here before but I was determined to this trip and I used the excuse that DS needed more vegetables. That, of course, persuaded DH to suck it up and eat here (he’s not a big fan of the menu)

I went with the Battered Fish Plate with Broccoli – I see you lonesome fry! Don’t worry I’ll eat you ::yes:: DH ordered the Chicken Breast Nuggets with fries

And they did not skimp on the broccoli and my strange son tore it up. Little fun fact: he also likes brussel sprouts! :hyper::faint:

And DM went with the Anchors Aweigh Sandwich

It wasn’t fancy food but it hit the spot! And not going to lie, it was nice to get just ‘plain’ park food. We’re so used to sitting down to nicer meals, it was great to just come and eat as we pleased with an easy menu to choose from. Also, upstairs was quiet and peaceful so it was a nice break!

What’s better than spinning round and round after lunch on Dumbo?! Seriously, that ride is probably as bad as the teacups for me :scared:

It took quite a while to actually get on the ride, about 40 minutes, but DS enjoyed the running around in the waiting area..for a little while. So the last time we waited here, DS got kicked in the face by an older kid while climbing – accident. And this time, DS had fallen off one of the bigger steps on to the ground and started crying. I didn’t see it, but according to DH he fell to the floor, nearly landing at a guys feet, who just stepped back and watched him cry. DH got DS and took him over to me and explained that he was a little upset that this man didn’t even attempt to help him up or ask if he was okay. That led to a discussion – what would you do if you saw a kid fall? Would you pick him up? Do you just ask if he’s okay without physically touching him? It feels like nowadays, you have to be super careful with kids and how you address/handle them. Perhaps this man thought he didn’t want us (as parents) picking up and touching our child, which would result in us getting angry (which obviously we wouldn’t but he doesn’t know how we would react to that situation). It’s all very iffy, and quite frankly, sad that we have to double think about helping somebody up. Sorry OT, but that’s what we talked about! Thoughts?

DH ended up going up some of the climbing areas with DS

But soon enough we were airborne and DS forgot about his fall!

Next was the Barnstormer!

You can see his little head poking out

The Verdict?

Thumbs up from Calvin!

Next up, Gender Reveal!!!

Okay so the thing with the sweater is, DH swore we were having a girl and we were going to name her 'Adelaide'. Well, I couldn't stop him from getting it because that would give it away that it wasn't a girl so I pretty much had to let him get it! :rotfl:

I just laughed out loud! I'm sure I will not be the first Aussie over here to comment. :) It's not a bad story to share, though!

(And I LOVE that name. I was going to name my daughter that, too, and ended up going with something else. Nothing that goes along with a footy team, though!)

Gender Reveal Fun!

The timing worked out pretty perfectly. As soon as Dumbo was over and he was in his stroller, he fell asleep. We had about 45 minutes until our meet with Mickey over at Town Square so we used this time to purchase our balloons – one pink and one blue. And let me tell you how excited DH was!

Forty bucks later :faint: we had two balloons and one of them would be useless to us!

I thought we should take some pictures with the balloons on Main street, since we still had time. The CM told us to leave the balloons with him while we took pictures but I told him what we were about to do so he came up with the great idea to take pictures with the two balloons and then to do each balloon separately so we wouldn’t have to come back after the reveal. Awesome idea!

At this point, I was nervous! More like anxious/excited for him. Let’s calm those nerves with a cake pop

And some caffeine

:rotfl2: I took this because his face shows it ALL! He’s definitely nervous and excited for what’s about to happen. Well, Starbucks coupled with baby news is pretty intense!

You darn tootin’! ::yes::

When it was about a few minutes till 2, DH left me in the dust :lmao: Check him out, on a mission with those balloons!

What’s it going to be? He’s thinking Pink!

While in line, we were talking to a family behind us and they asked about the balloons and they were thrilled for us!

And then it was time.

I explained to the handler what we were doing and she was so excited she pretty much screamed what was happening to the Photopass Photographer who was equally excited too!

This picture cracks me up! Love that Dan is covering up his ears because – one, he doesn’t want to hear ANYTHING and two, he’s deaf in one ear! :lmao::rotfl:

Right before I told Mickey the color to hand to DH

We took a picture with both

It's a.....

It was awesome and DH was BEYOND surprised! He for sure thought (and was honestly kind of hoping) it was a girl!

I posted a video about it here and to social media when we returned from our trip but I’ll post it again

We left and got to chat a little bit before meeting back up with DM and we thought it would be fun to do a mini reveal for her! BTW, DS was still asleep so he missed out on all the excitement! And right as we were about to do it, I spotted a Photopass photographer and asked if he wouldn’t mind taking pictures and that we were going to show ‘nana’ that she was about to get another grandson and he was over the moon about it!

He wanted me to take a picture with my mom

And this one does NOT

We all stood around talking about how it was another boy when I hear an, “Excuse me!” from behind us. It was the family that was standing in line with us to meet Mickey. He said, “I hope you don’t mind, but I was able to record a little bit of it and I can send it to you!” pixiedust: How amazing was that!

It was actually great timing because we were now stuck with a pink balloon. They had one little girl in their party. :teacher: We asked if we could give it to her and they were very grateful for it!

To that family out there, wherever you are, thank you so much for filming that special moment for us!

What an amazing story...and what an adorable way to reveal such exciting news!! Love it!!

:rotfl2::rotfl:

So next time (if there's a next time!:scratchin) we better have a girl or that sweater is useless! :lmao:

Dan is always thinking of names that are associated with sports of any kind - Calvin (Cal Ripken), Adelaide (for the team and because our last name is Crow!) and he was desperately trying to have Quentin's name be McCovey (for Willie McCovey, SF Giants) but I put my foot down on that one!

What an amazing story...and what an adorable way to reveal such exciting news!! Love it!!

Thanks Kathy! We were really hoping for both of us to be surprised, but I think it was more fun me knowing the whole time!

What a cool way to tell your DH and Mom! I don't know how you kept the secret for so long! (All 3 of ours were delivery room surprises.) Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

It was hard to not say 'he' or 'him' whenever we talked about the baby!

Can't believe you didn't want to know the sex for all three! I would have gone crazy :upsidedow

Oh my gosh it’s 9:30am and we’re still here!

What??? Get moving!!!

Why yes, yes we are. But I had already planned this since I figured we’d have a long night with Yachtsman and planned accordingly for late FP’s.

Oh. Well, okay then.

attempting our first family photo at Epcot and it was pretty much as I expected, with no one looking

But seriously, characters? Who needs stinkin’ characters when you have this to ride!

Yes....

And yes, I did ride while almost 5 months pregnant because my doctor insisted! Who am I to question her medical expertise?

You could have endangered the baby if you didn't ride it. You know. From the stress of... not riding. Yeah. Let's go with that.

Little did we know, we’d be purchasing a Traverse almost 6 months later!

Ha! Did your trying it out at that time affect your decision?

We found them still checking out cars and DS was clearly bored

Yeah, he looks pretty done.

So DH said he didn’t mind moving on to something else. What a nice guy. Me? Nope, would have gone on in a heartbeat :rotfl2:

:lmao: I like your style, lady.

Flash, whoops!

And no guys, not that type of flash

Dang it!!!

And solo shots  He got into it and tried to position DH so it looked like Dory was eating his head

but made a quick stop for a father-son picture

Nice. And in the most popular photo spot in WS.

Okay, I lied. Another quick stop for a picture in front of the fountain

Okay, I lied. That's the most popular photo spot in WS.

Perfect place to stretch out and people watch!

::yes:: A great hobby at Disney.

Is it possible to over-order cheese? Cause we did!

It's possible??? :faint:

And some Escargot, per DH’s request again

mmmmmm..... escargot.... mmmmmm....

Oh and the complimentary bread. I could NOT keep my mitts off of it! It was warm, crunchy on the outside and melt in your mouth soft on the inside.

You're killing me here.

As of now, we have saved a total of $84.52. We spent $150 for the card. Was it worth it? With 5 TiW restaurants still to go, we’ll soon find out.

I'm betting... yes.

I mentioned that we back track and start in Canada…per my request :teeth: ::yes::

Good choice.

oh, no reason.... :rolleyes1

I brought back this nugget to kinda share

Oh, man! I want one right now!

It used to be that I could hide my food fairly easy from DS, but he’s wised up and learned to check out our hands when we come back from somewhere

 You're going to have to learn new tricks!

I mean one can only have so many Beaver Butt lip balms or Moose Droppings candles or whatever they have in there :lmao:

One can never have enough.

Just sayin'.

Next up, the United Kingdom, where DM and DH had a fun impromptu meet with Tigger! They were looking at some stuff in the shop together while I was pushing DS in the stroller and the CM pretty much dragged them in since there was no line.

Impromptu is the best. Especially considering how much planning goes into these trips.

I saw Mary Poppins out meeting and pointed it out to DH who then proceeded to run over to the line but was rejected immediately as they had closed her line down.

Darn. Too bad. I bet your DS would've loved her.

As we were walking away from her, he shouted, “I still love you Mary!” Ugh, such a creep.

:lmao:

to purchase these goodies

You had me at chocolate.

DH asked the photographer if he could take a picture of him sitting down (he thinks she was supposed to be taking pictures of the UK Pavilion as the background) but she did it for him! He said the two guys had no idea what was going on

I present to you, The Beverly!

Shoot. At work. I'll have to check it out when I get home.

Alright we made it up to him and took him here. I realize that this may be a form of punishment to some of you, but hey there’s no line and we like it!

That's okay. When DDs were 4 & 8, this was their favourite ride in all the parks.

Sunshine Seasons for some Strawberry Shortcake!

Soooo good.

And of course, you can’t come in here without paying a visit to Living with the Land.

:rolleyes1

Well....... I may have done just that...

And DH hit a wall :lmao: Hey, Pineapples are pretty darn exciting if you ask me!

I think it's funny that he's out but your DS isn't.

Hello, Karamell Kuche!

Hello!!

I really enjoyed sitting there and just watching people be happy (for the most part ),

::yes:: (With the occasional "Do you know how much I paid for this???" thrown in.)

Every trip (well, this is the third time in a row), he seems to make it a ritual and purchase a new bag to take to school. So we now have a decent collection of Adidas bags happening at home.

Let him do it.
That way, you can keep going. "Isn't it time for a new bag?"

DM went with something different – Candele – candle-stick pasta, sausage ragu, polpettine meatballs, ricotta and mozzarella.,

Wow! That looks good! Wish I'd ordered that instead.

It was delicious! But this was a very filling dish so she only finished maybe half of it.

Looks huge.

But really, everyone comes here for the pizzas.

As did I.
And I wasn't overly impressed.

And you CANNOT come here and not order the tiramisu!

Again... :rolleyes1

It was time to start heading back home but couldn’t go past Spaceship Earth without a ride!

Probably a walk on?

He felt left out without having his hand over his chest, so he joined the photographer!

In case anyone is wondering, he’s not allowed to show his nametag in pictures and that’s why his hand is up.

Wonder why?

In the room, I decided to have my second round of dessert for the night :rotfl: Uh, the baby needs it. Yeah, that’s right, the baby!

Of course!

Back to read more later...

Sad. Sad that we've sunk that low that a crying child can't depend on adults to comfort and keep safe. JM2C.

Forty bucks later :faint: we had two balloons and one of them would be useless to us!

Are those things seriously that much!! OUCH!!!

ok, I held it together pretty well, until that video. I must have been allergic to it. ;)

Saw the video!

Will read the rest on the morrow.

Holy comments! :earseek:

What??? Get moving!!!
Oh. Well, okay then.

I always have a plan!...usually...sometimes...never.

You could have endangered the baby if you didn't ride it. You know. From the stress of... not riding. Yeah. Let's go with that.

Ooh that's a good one, i'll take it!

Ha! Did your trying it out at that time affect your decision?

It mainly nudged DH in the right direction. He was not excited about test driving these out, but once he was able to take it out on to the road, he really loved it. I have been wanting one since I was pregnant with our first DS but we really wanted to drive our old Volvo into the ground and boy did we ::yes::
:lmao: I like your style, lady.

I mean, come on! Who passes up Test Track!?

::yes:: A great hobby at Disney.

One of the best!

mmmmmm..... escargot.... mmmmmm....

Glad that there is a small group of us that enjoy this!

Good choice.

oh, no reason.... :rolleyes1

 You're going to have to learn new tricks!

Teach me!

One can never have enough.

Just sayin'.

You know from experience??

Impromptu is the best. Especially considering how much planning goes into these trips.

YES!

Darn. Too bad. I bet your DS would've loved her.

I'm sure he would have talked her ear off.

I think it's funny that he's out but your DS isn't.

:laughing:Right?! How the heck was he still up??

Wow! That looks good! Wish I'd ordered that instead.

Oh no. Not the pizza?!? You didn't like the pizza?!

As did I.
And I wasn't overly impressed.

:faint::eek::faint: Shocked.

Probably a walk on?

You know it, my friend! And how can you say no to a walk on??

Wonder why?

Yeah, very strange.

Sad. Sad that we've sunk that low that a crying child can't depend on adults to comfort and keep safe. JM2C.

I totally agree and it makes me sad too.

Are those things seriously that much!! OUCH!!!

I think it was like $15ish per balloon?? A ridiculous amount, but DS ended up loving it!

ok, I held it together pretty well, until that video. I must have been allergic to it. ;)

Sorry for making tears come out of your face:laughing:

Saw the video!

Will read the rest on the morrow.

I just hope the videos get better with each passing year!! :lmao:
