Worst Room View Pics Thread

So in everyone's opinion, do you think it is more advantageous to request certain preferences through online booking or when you first make reservation?
Which do you feel gets better results?:confused3

Request notes all go into the same notation field, and all rooms are assigned in advance about a week in advance, working with the requests as much as they can given availability. There is no advantage to either method.

If you are assigned a bad room and are willing to swap rooms the next morning there may be a better chance of getting a view you desire. I've done that at Kidani when we had a savanna view with only a view of native bunny rabbits and fencing (I sat on the balcony for 3 hours waiting for anything to wander by, LOL.)

What you do not want to do is give them a request less than one week out (I'd make it two) or worse, decide at check-in that you want a certain type of room. They just can't do it without jumping though hoops.

We had the best/worst of both worlds during our November, 2015, stay. Look to the right to see the demolition of the quiet pool at the WLV:

...but...look to the left for this gorgeous view:

I wished I took a picture of my view from thanksgiving 2015 at the dolphin: the loading dock where the service workers unload the trucks and take smoke breaks.

The "French Fry" Room...we're Annual Passholders and stay frequently and BC and YC. On our Nov. visit to the BC, we asked to be as close to the International Gateway as possible...no rush...we were going to the parks and could wait for a good room. When we checked in, our room was the absolute furthest from the IG as possible. It was on the 3rd floor of BC with a view of the YC. It was a large, corner room (yeah?!) but the view was of the roof of the BC which had the vents from the kitchens spewing fried food smells that even permeated the closed windows and door. The noise was annoying and the smell was disgusting. I complained to the manager and she offered to change rooms but at this point we had already unpacked for a one night stay, so we declined her offer. We just had one or two extra cocktails at the Food and Wine Festival to ensure a good night's sleep and checked out the next day. Have been there many times (before and since) and NEVER had such an awful room! Have had plenty of awesome upgrades so didn't want to complain too much...

In Boardwalk Villas now. Our pool/garden view is a huge tree. The branches are up against the patio! The birds and I have morning conversations!! Room 3094 . We are DVC so I will be quibbling with customer sat people in an attempt to get points back. According to BWV cast members, these very mature trees are creating many view issues like this. I took a closer look around the pool/garden views and can clearly see their point. Guarantee Disney will tell me a tree is part of the "garden" ! I'll post a picture when I return home.

Yup.

2014 flew from Seattle to Orlando over night. Finally got to Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, checked in at the front counter and the cast member stated you have a accessible room with 2 queen beds. Wife and son walked & I rolled across the resort and when we opened the door, there was only one bed and it was not an accessible room. I called the front desk and the person I talked to told me to look under the bed for the other queen bed, then she told me that the ottoman opens up to a queen bed. I explained to her that she was mistaken and that they need to find us the room we paid for. They had to send a cast member to look at the room and see if she can find the other bed. (I'm not making this up, this really happened) After 2 hours and the cast member made numerous calls on the phone and radio, she then had to go back to the front counter to talk to them. We left the door opened and the head of "Mousekeeping" walked by and asked if there is something wrong. I explained what has happened and that we have been waiting for over 2 hours for someone to find us the room we reserved. I also explained what the person on the phone told me to do, "look under the bed for the other, then the ottoman", she looked at me with a puzzled look and then she kind of smiled. She made 2 calls, and then grabbed our luggage and said follow me so she took us to another part of the resort and got us a room. It was not wheelchair accessible, but it was a room. We lost 2 fast passes due to the time we wasted trying to get our room.

This was a cute disboards find - now that I know it's out here if I come across any "non-views" I will take a pic and post here lol. I've been lucky in that I've learned to request specific areas in advance and most times have been fullfilled to the best of their ability at the time. It does make it easier that I now put in the request for "whatever" at the time I book, but all in all, even when I do it same-day it's mostly worked out for us :).

We had a lovely view of the air conditioner at the Beach Club...but then we discovered we could see fireworks at night, so not bad in the end.

My sister had a similar room in May, how was the noise from the AC?

I have not stayed there but I was a rooms control CM at the BC and we called most of the rooms on the 3rd floor standard views pebble beach. I think it was the same area the pp mentioned about kitchen vents. It was the roof over the back end of the resort and it has rocks to make it look more "beachy"(?). Sorry but one nighters on a busy week would get pebble beach. But it was a game of chance cause the one nighters could also get the Presidential suite - loved booking ppl in that one, pb not so much ;)

Wilderness Lodge, Club level. I don't remember the room number though.

My absolute favorite thing to do at AKV is to watch animals while sitting on my balcony for breakfast in my room. Last June, we splurged for a CL room at Jambo. If one sat on the balcony, the thatch roof overhang covered about 60% of the view. So, you couldn't sit and see animals. I didn't take any pictures of that. If I leaned over the edge of the balcony, I could see a people pen over to the left, part of the building to the right, and one of the cul de sac savannah areas in front of the room. Not horrible, unless you consider that I used as many points for a studio as I usually do for a savannah view 1 BR at Kidani. Free food was nice. The files of pictures I took are too big to post here, but, you get the idea.

Kidani was by far the worst room view we've ever had. Can't complain though...we were lucky to get anything. DD decided 3 weeks before spring break we should go to DW! :scared: The one and only time we've done "spur of the moment"...

I don't think we took a picture because it suc.... WL standard room. Open the curtain and you see green roof. I mean right in your face green and nothing else. I joked we could use the slots for the roof as a slide to go down.
