Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Hello!
My husband and I just booked a little Labor Day weekend at the Beach Club without our kids! We are super pumped. We had the pleasure of doing this last year and it was amazing.
We have stayed at the Boardwalk, Contemporary and Poly several times in the last few years and are really excited to try a new hotel.

Looking forward to working my way through this thread. :flower1:

I was wondering the same thing. Anyone done the one at YC or GF? We want to do a couples massage and I was looking for opinions so we can pick one of the three spas.

At one point I thought I had read that it can be a little noisy at YC spa since it is next to gym the busy SAB pool complex. The spa at GF is in it's own dedicated building so that might lend itself to a more tranquil setting.

My wife had an 80-minute massage at YC spa in March and really enjoyed it (and thought the place was nice). I know the GF is the premier spa at WDW, so I am sure it is nicer, but she didn't mention anything about it being noisy.

JUST A WEIRD RANDOM THOUGHT. I sent a communication to DVC about a month ago with some observations from an April trip to the world. This is an exact quote from my letter. I was referring at this point of my letter to the VGF to begin with.

-The Villas also had a wonderful area to grill, beside the spa, near the Villas building with big beautiful gas grills. We didn't use them but the area was a huge upgrade to the metal open charcoal grills in the little tiny spot surrounded by high grasses at the BCV, which we have used before. I wish they would consider upgrading the grills at BCV and making the area a little larger by cutting down some of the tall grasses. It kind of creeps me out. Always afraid a snake or gator or something will come out of the grass.

I had a follow up call from DVC who had asked us to keep them posted and report back on our experiences from our trip in June which I did. We both agreed my comment was kind of creepy given the incident at the GF this week and she said she would surely make a note to have this addressed.

I'm not sure the movies will be inside except for weather

Poly has them set up on the faux grass near Captain Cooks

This is what the June 2016 Activities Calendar says:

Movie Under the Stars
Join us at the Solarium Sunday,Tuesday, and Thursday or on the beach Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday for your favorite movies!

I don't know what changes have recently been made for the beach location, but it looks like the Solarium had already been a scheduled location for Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday showings.

Interesting. Thanks. Maybe they will install fake turf where the useless volleyball court is

Disney Visa discount at Cape May Cafe and Captain's Grille.

I just saw this posted on another thread and the information may already be posted here. Disney Visa cardholders receive a 10% discount at Cape May Cafe and Captain's Grille.

Never was aware of this.

They have had the Dusney Visa discount at Captains Grille for a long time. But it was never available for Cape May. I hope this is true. :)

We're booked in a BC lagoon/pool view from November 29 through December 4. For the first time ever, I got a UOC via snail mail...so even though we decided not to Disney this year, we're going  . I stayed at BCV years ago and YC three trips ago. Looking forward to the new rooms at BC and (hopefully if weather cooperates) SAB!

Got most of my ADR hopes too, so we are stoked! pixiedust:

Thanks for the heads up. Do you know if it is all meals? As Wood Nymph mentioned, Captain's Grille has had the discount for awhile, but it was only breakfast and lunch initially. If I remember, I'll look it up on the Disney Visa website and post the info on the Dining Post (Post 7) on Page 1.

::yes::

The Disney Visa website does not specify if the discount is only good for either breakfast or dinner so I assume its good for both.

Here now. The movie is outside at the volleyball court (closer to the beach than the hotel) on the non-Solarium nights. Campfire (in June it's Mon. Wed. Fri. Sat.) is at the usual spot between the entrance to the pirate ship slide and a wall next to the beach (ETA: the usual spot per a cm at the movie tonight (this is my first stay so I didn't know for sure)). Free bag of Pop Secret popcorn at the movie (apparently a sponsor - the brand name is printed on the movie screen, below the movie).

Pool slide access is not impacted by beach being roped off (and patrolled - always a cm nearby). Friendship boats seem to be running as usual to me (those I have used before). No change to the walkway to HS - easily accessible to walk to and from there. So, basically only alligator impact to me, a first time BC guest, seems to be The rope along the edge of the beach and a CM smiling at you at the rope. (I haven't stayed here before so veterans I could imagine would see a loss of atmosphere, not going on the beach, if that was used a lot I'm thinking.)

Oh - they have cm led games on the grass, like parachute and balls and stuff near the volleyball court at 5pm. Just easy elementary school age stuff. The movie cm tonight said it was new, just started a few days ago. 9 kids participated today.

Also eta: good view of the HS Star Wars fireworks from the movie! So, you see a tiny bit of Epcot fireworks when the movie starts at 9pm, then the HS fireworks at 9:45pm. The music isn't piped in for the SW fireworks. But good view - they are mostly high ones, unlike epcots.

ETA yet again (DS just returned from the movie): the popcorn was a 4.5oz bag (pretty good size) of Pop Secret kettle corn, with Star Wars theming. They are playing that SW movie tonight and Wednesday here. I wouldn't be surprised if it's free popcorn just for this licensing tie in. But no clue - just guessing. (I wouldn't want someone to tell their kids free popcorn at the movie, and then be sad.)

HTH someone.

This is from minutes ago: Star Wars Force awakens playing bottom right, Star Wars fireworks same time.
The volleyball court is center, closer to camera, to left of movie screen.
Oh: the movie screen faces the right side of my photo - I.e., I'm looking at the back of the screen. You sit on the other side, away from the volleyball court, towards stomalong bay.
