Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

Help! Our trip is in 2 weeks! We have booked a deluxe studio garden/pool view with our DVC points. NO CLUE what to ask for. We plan on primarily spending our time between Epcot and DHS and will likely be walking to both a lot so don't want to take forever getting outside to the walking paths. Would PREFER not to have to look at Pennywise LOL. I think we'd like a higher floor if possible...and a balcony (do all th studios garden view have a balcony)? What should we request? I'm having a tough time figuring out the room locater thing on Touring Plans. I THINK we would love the rooms that look out over the courtyard outside the lobby...5053 etc...

I'm considering booking BWI for free dining at the end of August because I can't get in to YC but I was wondering if there will still be lots of exterior construction work going on then because my hubby likes to sleep in and would be very annoyed to be woken up. Also we will be driving down and there is an advisory on the disney website saying that anyone with a car could be forced to use valet parking which would also make my hubby unhappy.

Also we will be driving down and there is an advisory on the disney website saying that anyone with a car could be forced to use valet parking which would also make my hubby unhappy.

The advisory regarding parking has been up for a long time. DD and I were there in August and December of 2015 and I am heading back next month with DH. We had a car in August and never had any problems parking. There were always available spots -- sometimes they weren't nicely shaded, but parking was not a problem. In December, we did not have a car, but I saw parking spots on the BWI side anytime I looked that way from buses, etc. Next month, my DH is driving and I'm flying. I'm not even telling my DH about the parking advisory because the advisory will honk him off and there is no sense in borrowing trouble. I've warned him that parking can sometimes be distant and that it will appear that there are lots of spaces reserved for valet, but there will be parking. I believe that, if worse came to worst, we can park in the CM lot across the street. That wouldn't bother me; might bother you.

As for the construction, there are many posts about that within this admittedly long thread. For the most part, people haven't been bothered by it. There is at least one instance where a guest received a phone message that hot water would not be available for a couple hour period, but it seems that construction noise hasn't been terrible and is during normal business hours. If your DH likes to sleep in until 11:00 or so and you have a Boardwalk view (I think most of the construction is on that side of the resort), that might be problematic. I'm not changing my plans for next month.

HTH

We wouldn't pay for a boardwalk view so it is good to know that most of the work is on the front of the building. One time when we checked in to YC they tried to give us an obstructed view room with a daybed facing the lake but there was construction guys working on the roof so my hubby said nope take us back and we'll wait for a different room. Also good to know that they always have up that parking advisory. I already booked savannah view at AKL but my teen has convinced her BFF to come along on the trip and they would rather be within walking distance of 2 parks than see the animals.

A few questions regarding our upcoming stay...

If we do online check-in and sign up for a text when our room is ready, are we able to bypass check in and go straight to our room, or do we need to stop by to get our band activated?

We will be switching to PO-R at the end of our stay. If we drop off our luggage to be transferred, is it customary to tip at drop off?

We will be staying a dining plan. Are credits are good until midnight of the day we check out, correct? (We have a separate RO reservation for POR, so it won't be connected to our package stay.)

I need to switch a non expiring ticket for DD13 from a child to an adult. Can I do that at the resort (this won't be a ticket we'll be using; I just want to do it before she gets too much older.)?

Well I went ahead and booked us from 8/23 to 8/29 at BWI for the first time. We have already stayed at BCV, YC and CR so I think it will be nice to try out a new deluxe, plus the teens are dying to walk to the two parks by themselves.

I would ask for Village Green, Near Elevators, High Floor. That would be the area you're asking about! Good luck. :)

In order...

- Yes! Very convenient.
- Yes, you should tip every time they touch your luggage.
- Yup!
- This one I don't know. You might have to go to Guest Services, which they have outside the entrance to all the parks. It's different from the regular ticket window.

Thank you! I called Member Services last night to put in that request and I think I made the CM's night when I told him we didn't want to be looking at the scary clown pool. He was laughing so hard!

Looks like you already made a request. Village green is a nice section. You may want to consider requesting quiet pool view. That side is closer to DHS. You may be able to see Star Wars Fireworks from your room, but haven't heard any reports from anyone yet. We could see them from the quiet pool.

60 days today! Made our FP+. It is cold and rainy here today so I'm excited to think of FL in late June. Crazy I know but I'm tired of wearing sweaters - bring on the heat!

Not crazy:)

So I may have ch-ch-changed my summer trip :duck:but I saved money and I was able to keep CL. I will be at Poly. I will admit that BWI CL is my first choice, but thanks to many changes I manage to change myself out of available rooms...My TA pointed out I am now booked at exactly the same place I was in the first booking :rolleyes1 But I am still here and staying here to read all about upcoming visits. @Blue Skies and @mexi BRING ON THE BOARDWALK PICS :grouphug:

May have = did = it's all good ;)

They're going to love it and I'll log your dates:)

I just wanted to say that my mom and I will be staying here from 10/27 - 11/1. It'll be our first time staying here and I'm super excited. It looks absolutely gorgeous!

Congratulations and I hope you and DM have a wonderful first stay:) and I'll add your dates, too.

We leave tomorrow for our first ever trip to WDW that has been in the making for over a year! It feels surreal. Or as our DD9 said this morning..."like a dream".
If you see a gal crying from joy in the BWV lobby tomorrow night with her DH shaking his head and our DD9 jumping for joy...that is us!
Thanks to everyone for all the tips! I will try to post photos and updates when I'm there.

Hi everyone! I'm still 80 days out today, but can't stop planning!

I am looking for some feedback regarding a few things if anyone is willing to chime in:
1. I have never done online checkin before, so I am wondering if I want to this time. I like going to the desk and talking to an actual person, but that of course means I have to wait to checkin at arrival instead of 60 days out. Does it matter which one you do? Is there a benefit for one over the other? Why/How is it possible to checkin 60 days in advance online?

2. I have never stayed at BWV, so what kind of room do I want to request, if any? We are in a pool/garden studio for ten days. We are never very particular with our preferences, so the only request we have ever made at a Disney resort is a king-sized bed (I know that is not an option at BWV). So, what kind of requests will get me a "good" room (knowing that a good room is matter of opinion)? If I don't make any requests, am I going to get whatever's left?

Thank you for your perspectives!

We don't do online check in. I like walking into the lobby at the resort. We also drive and I carry the bags to the room after we park.

I usually don't make requests either because I don't want to be disappointed. A pool request will you have you overlooking the feature pool and clown mouth slide which some do not enjoy. There is also the quiet pool which would not have the clown. Village Green is a popular request as it gives you a view of some nice green space at the resort. Another request is close or far from the elevators. Some complain about the hallways at Boardwalk, but I don't think they are as bad of a walk especially when compared to walks from building as value resorts to the bus stop. As there are only one set of elevators, some request far away to have more quiet or less traffic. Enjoy your planning and have a great vacation.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew if they still rent scooters on the Boardwalk. My wife and I will be staying there in 2 weeks and her mom is coming to visit for a day. She would like to rent a scooter for a few hours to see the Flower and Garden Festival. Also if anyone has any advice on a room request for a standard view studio. We have always stayed Boardwalk view but there was no availability. Thanks for any advice

Quoting myself because I ended up switching to Yacht Club.

LOL, quoting myself because I'm back at BW. I switched our dates around and no YC available so we are staying in a studio villa at BWV. Its standard view but I'm hoping a different view will open up and I can change it.
I read that all the villas have balconies, that includes the studios too? I'm so excited!!

Yes, balconies/patios for all rooms unless there is an oddity out there of which I am unaware. :)
