I have A question about Disney background checks I Applied online about three weeks ago. They never asked me online about my background then. And I also did a phone interview with a recruiter about two weeks ago and he never asked me about my background either. I'm wondering if they're going to do it when I do my orientation or my onboarding I just gave my two weeks notice to my other job I'm just worried that I'm going to be out of a job completely.

What did you apply/interview for? Have you received the offer letter and a start date?

Background checks are done upon acceptance of an offer

Yes I got an email this morning saying that congratulations welcome to Walt Disney World you been hired as a full-time lifeguard and also stating where I'm going to work at. Then they also sent me several emails talking about on boarding and orientation and drug test appointments

What are you worried about that may come up in your background check? The application should have had something asking about any felonies etc. Then when you do the paperwork that accepts the offer somewhere in all that information it says something about authorizing them to do a background check. Since they are drug testing I assume your offer letter probably stated that it does not guarantee employment until after the test comes back.

I'm definitely not worried about the drug test I have no drug convictions. I have a misdemeanor for another crime that was non-violent. But I also don't remember them asking on my initial application about my background.

Complete the onboarding, and that is when they will file the background check, and employment is indeed dependent on the background check.

Doing some research, this is what I found as appearing on the application:

"Have you ever been convicted of, or plead guilty or nolo contender (no contest), to a crime (felony or misdemeanor) other than a minor traffic violation? Note: A DUI is not a minor traffic violation. If yes, where and where and disposition?

A yes response will not necessarily disqualify an applicant from employment. Failure to answer this question accurately could cause denial of employment or termination of employment. NOTE: having a conviction dismissed does not necessarily mean it will not show up on your criminal record."

If you answered this honestly, and your misdemeanor is one that Disney accepts, then you should be fine (but I'm not recruiting so obviously no guarantee)

Do you know if it matters if my crime was more than 6 years ago

Will completely depend on recruiting etc. If you are seriously worried you can call casting and let them know that you got your offer letter and want to accept the position but can't remember if you checked yes to the misdemeanor question and want to discuss it further.

OK thank you for your help

If you believe you answered honestly, I wouldn't go out of my way to bring attention to the misdemeanor. The issue will be if you unintentionally lied about it.

I'm currently going through the same process and would love to know more about your experience. I've now officially accepted my position but I had to do additional paperwork with a company called accurate backgrounds Inc. My misdemeanor is more than 6 years ago as well. It's for theft, also non-violet but does not look great. It was also sealed but I had to report it anyway according to the statements on the Disney website. Completely out of character and I was facing extreme circumstances at the time. I'm obviously very worried that I will be turned down and that I won't have a chance to explain myself and how hard I've worked to correct it. Please keep me posted on your journey. I'd love to know more.

This is what happen to me When you do your onboarding that is when you will do your background check. Make sure you be as detailed as you can on what happen the day you got aressted. Then a couple of days later they called me and asked for a court deposition and a police report which I faxed to them but I'm still waiting to hear back from them

No I'm still waiting to hear back from them, and yes at the on boarding/ background check I did have to fill out what happen when I got arrested. You can try to bring your court deposition and Police report with you. But I'm not sure if they will take it at that time.

Word of Note. If u had a dui no matter if it was 50years ago and dont disclose it u wont get the job, like i just happily found out. Dummy me got way to excited not knowing that i was suppose to disclose it beforehand, and then looking like a liar later.

And word of note. Good luck getting your dui expunged in florida. It stays on there forever.

What was the outcome? Im doing that now as I speak

Most states if all now you cannot ask about criminal background until after hire and in California you cannot use it as a marker for hiring.
