BOG Dinner Question

I was surprised there were different days and times still available for ADR BOG dinner the end of July/August, after hearing how difficult it was to book, the menu is pretty limited, for those that have eaten there, what in your opinion, are the best choices. There will be 4 of us including dd17 dd20, pretty picky eaters.

Yes, I too was surprised that it was easy to get a dinner reservation in July! My favorite (and my husband's) is the shrimp and scallop dish, and my teenagers love the steak! It's a special place. I hope you enjoy!!!

Thank you, it is at 8:30 but for older teens, it wasn't a problem, there more than 1 time available on 3 different days, plus openings still at CRT, very surprised.

We ate their once on our last trip and both DH and I had the steak. It was good, but on our next trip I'm going to try the pork.

My boyfriend and I have had dinner at Be Our Guest 3 times over the past several years. Some of the items we enjoyed were:

Appetizers:
Assorted Cured Meats and Sausages
French Onion Soup
Seasonal Salad Trio

Entrees:
Sautéed Shrimp and Scallops
Grilled Strip Steak (we asked for it rare and it was done to perfection)

Desserts:
Triple Chocolate Cupcake
Strawberry Cream Cupcake
(Unfortunately, we are not fans of the "grey stuff").

We found the atmosphere (we love the ballroom next to the snowy windows, but have toured all three rooms) and service to be terrific.
Hope you have a blast!

I have never had a problem getting a BOG dinner at any time other than FD. We have had dinner there three times within the last year and never had a problem booking it significantly less than 180 days in advance (never been able to book it for FD time period, though).

Our favorites:
Potato leek soup (even my very picky 9 year old loves this)
Shrimp and scallops
Ratatouille

The kids steak and kids fish are also really good.

I had the lamb in December. It was amazing - especially with the wine our served suggested. My husband had the pork and loved it. We had an awesome time. Very much looking forward to going back!

Enjoy. It is a great experience.

I had the pork when I went. Very good. It was cooked medium. Some people aren't used to that, but it's perfectly safe and tastes great. Just be warned if you're one of those people who likes your meat overcooked.

anyone have the mussels there? they are pricey but look good :)

I had the mussels in August - SO GOOD! I had them as my main after splitting the charcuterie board with my hubby with a cupcake for dessert it was an amazing meal. Hubby had the pork and loved it too (I tried some and agree completely also very good)

My DH and older DS get the mussels every time we go, which has been 6x so far. They LOVE them!
whoa, you are a fan. I want the mussels and I want the steak and I want to not explode. Is that possible? lol. I might just split the grey stuff with my kiddo though, i'm not a huge cupcake fan and I am hoping to do this as an early dinner on MVMCP night, so other treats will be forthcoming later.

how was the cauliflower? I admit the lunch sounds much better than the dinner pork to me. But the lunch experience is much less appealing.

I don't remember the cauliflower specifically (although generally I'm a fan) hubby ate everything and he's not always the biggest veggie fan so it must have been pretty good. Everything we ate that night was delicious.

we have had the mussels, they are amazing. My husband thought the pork was his best meal on the trip with we first went the BOG, and we had deluxze dining on that trip , so the food was pretty amazing! The steak is great! And the atmosphere is nothing short of spectacular! Enjoy it!

Ha ha yes, we really do enjoy BOG dinner :goodvibes In fact when DH and I went w/o the boys in January we skipped BOG in favor of trying a number of new-to-us restaurants, and it felt weird not going there! Pretty sure we'll be back for our Nov. trip :thumbsup2

The mussels are a pretty big portion so if your DS will eat some, you can probably do them and the steak (which is my favorite entrée BTW). If the mussels will be all yours.......well, you may only be taking a small bite of the dessert lol! DH can certainly eat it all, my 14 year old DS has gotten 2 orders of the mussels as his app/entrée and finished all of them himself. I don't eat mussels but get extremely full if I order soup and the steak and find myself sadly leaving part of the steak, lots of fries and even some of the delicious green beans that come with the steak :sad1: On the other hand, being your first time going I'd just order what you want so you get to try it all.
I cannot be responsible if you explode, though :teeth:
ENJOY!!

I had the ratatouille and it was REALLY good...I'm not vegetarian, I just thought it sounded good that day and it was! My DD loves the steak. I also suggest the "Grey Stuff"....it really is delicious ::yes::

We are going there in August. Soooooo looking forward to trying it for the first time. All of these recommendations have been awesome.
