Most Overrated things people rave about at WDW

LOL at all the zebra dome references. The adoration for them several years ago would drive me crazy. Maybe it's because I rarely frequent the dining forums anymore that I have completely forgotten about them.

Be Our Guest - McAlisters at Disney
Space Mountain - Would be one of those rides at any Six Flags that you ride when you want a short line
Downtown disney - go to City Walk
Free refills cup - Disney knows I'm not walking 2 miles for a free refill and back
When you get upgraded to a "better" room by way of pixie dust. You paid $240 for a $80 hotel room with exterior doors.

TSMM
Be Our Guest
Dole whips
Disney resorts (I actually love a few but those prices!)
most character meals
the upsell events

Despite what I just wrote about the resorts I have the complete opposite thought as you. If I am paying to stay on site, I should take advantage of what the resort offers. If not, just find a junk motel on 192 and save the money.

I think that is one of the biggest mistakes people make when planning a Disney vacation. Not taking time to enjoy what they offer other than the parks. So much to do and see. Some of my best memories are going to Ft Wilderness and just having fun. Campfires and movies. Yeehaw Bob. Bike and boat rentals. Disney is So much more than the parks.
We love going to Fort Wilderness but it's easy to do even when you stay offsite. We really enjoy eating and just spending time there.

Halloween and Christmas parties!!! Did both and can't believe people think these are so great. I don't get it.

I am probably in the minority here but: All Disney Food is overrated in my opinion. We approach our trip differently though than a lot of people and value the attractions, rides and experiences over spending time in a restaurant which we can easily do at home (for better quality food). I would much rather take a break back at the hotel and lay in a pool or lazy river than spend hours in a sit down restaurant, but that's just me. I don't think I'll ever get used to making a dining reservation 6 months in advance... I've done it based on demand (Disney planted demand) but how can I know what I'll be in the mood for 6 months from now? Luckily we have better restaurants here at home that we like to sit down and relax at, but not when I've spent money on a park ticket! With that said... I'm sure there are some really great restaurants out there and we've been to some of the nicer ones in the parks, but our priority will always be with the rides :)

To each his own for sure!!! Some of the mentions here are snoozers for me but I love them because my son does and it's fun to see it through his eyes which makes it magical and not overrated :)

Fantasmic!
Table service meals
Disney transportation
All the fireworks shows
All the parades (except AK's - I loved that one)

Dole Whips. BOG lunch. Peter Pan's Flight. "Designing" your car on Test Track. TSSM, to some extent.

I love Mickey ice cream bars for some reason.

With the exception of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, I believe wearing an elaborate outfit in an attempt to resemble a Disney character to a Disney park is overrated.

I live in Florida, I experience the year round summer and 90+ degree weather. Why would anyone want to wear a costume and endure an average of 7 miles of walking under the hot sun, sweating bullets, clothes (or costume rather) sticking to your body and eventually developing, the inevitable, body odor?!?!

I've seen young women in tights (pantyhose) and heels, all to achieve their adored character! Seriously?

It's cute on the little ones (for a couple of hours), but Florida is just too hot for this overrated craze.

When people say something is great it raises your expectations, you also have to remember that people are coming off an emotional high just coming from Disney. But everyone should be able to find something they love at Disney. I love the safari go every trip.

1. No Way Jose sundae at Beaches & Cream - its just OK. Not OMG wonderful. Not worth the hassle of getting an ADR in this tiny restaurant for commercial ice cream and toppings you could ladle on at home
2. Mickey Bars
3. Dole Whips
4. Sleepy Hollow waffle savoury sammies. Love the theming here but sadly their waffles were soggy & doughy. Have tried x2 now & never again.

I can do campfires and movies and bike & boat rentals at one of a dozen parks within 30 minutes of my house. Why would I travel to WDW to do that?

Well said! I refuse to plan my entire vacation around dinner reservations made several months in advance lol. I'll get a cheap (by Disney standards mind you, not by real world standards) QS meal when I'm hungry. When will I be hungry? I'm not sure. I certainly can't tell you when I'll be hungry 6 months from now. If I'm in the park and see a snack that sounds really good, I'm getting that snack for sure, which means I might not be hungry for dinner until later. Or I might not see any snacks I like so I'll be hungry for dinner earlier. Or I'll see a bunch of snacks that I like and not need dinner at all. Can't say for sure.

Plus like you said, I might want to keep riding rides and not want to leave the park I'm in just to make it to a dinner reservation. I like to have flexibility.

1-Illuminations for sure...the build up and first minute or so are fantastic, and thennnnnnn...........nothing happens.
2-Parades in MK.....all they do is block up Main St and make it hard to get around the parks....can't stand them.
3-Vinalmations....nonsense
4-MGM/Hollywood Studios.....so incredibly sub-par it's embarasing and an insult to count it as a Disney park.
5-Frozen......everything about it. Makes NO sense to me.

BOG - did not like it. Not sure why people do
The Christmas party and Halloween party - too expensive for not much
Dole whips- again, I just don't get the excitement

I do not get Peter Pan either. Yes it is a cute ride, but I feel the Fast Pass system has to be looked at on this ride. There is no reason that ride goes to a 90 minute wait in the stand by line. The CMs do not make FP people wait at all, if they see you walking up, they allow you on. 20-30 people on standby could get on the ride, if they would make FP people wait even a minute.
