Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

December is always unpredictable. When we were in WDW Nov 30 to Dec 5, 2013 we had weather mostly in the low 70's. We went swimming a couple of times during the high of the day, but mostly it was a little too chilly during the rest of the time.

Thank you! I just want to experience it at least once. My daughter will swim no matter what....and not admit she's cold either :)

Has anyone who has stayed in early December comment on what the weather will be like for using the pools? We were at CBR in early December once and my hubby and Daughter swam, but it was too cold for me. I didn't know if that was normal or not? I had friends there last year at that time who said it was hot. This is our first stay at BC so we are hoping to be able to use the pool.

Yup, lived in the area for years too. You can plan on it being anywhere from 35-75. :)

20 days until I'm home!!!!!!!!!!!! I did book the Star Wars dessert party on our arrival night because WHY NOT?? Thank you to my SAB buddies for posting about it. FYI I was able to book with a gift card but I had to call to book. I cancelled Beaches and Cream that night since I am sure to eat lots of junk ;)

I just want to express my remorse and sorrow for those staying at the YC/BC/BCV this weekend. They have to pay full rate yet they lose one hour of their vacation tonight. It just doesn't seem right, does it? You think the Mouse would do something like open all parks one hour earlier on Sunday. Only seems fair.
Katesdad
We still have 2 weeks to go here in the UK. I've just realised I loose an hours sleep the night before we go on a road trip to Oxford.

There were a few when we were there last, but not sure if they "belonged" to someone or not? We just purchased the kids meal at the pool (comes in a bucket with a shovel) so we had our own :)
We saw parents forwarding them to others when they were leaving to return home from vacation. Same thing with some pool noodles.

Oh please. This is such a stretch. Losing an hour over the course of 8 days is just so trivial. If you have to complain that you should get a discount because the clocks moved forward, maybe you need to rethink your finances. Just saying.

Wow, it's been quite a while since I've been here! So much has changed, both here and in our lives, that everything feels new and exciting again!

We just celebrated an early St. Patrick's Day dinner with my wife's family and talk started to turn to another Disney adventure. This would be a pretty large trip, with approximately 12-15 people going, along with our nephew, our soon-to-be-here niece due in early August, and most importantly, our own Disney Princess in late August! I often find myself holding back from talking about our growing family simply because we had gone through soo many struggles to finally start a family that I don't want to jinx it. Having said that, these are huge reasons to celebrate, and I can't wait to get back to my favorite place on Earth!

A couple of logisitical questions...I know I could probably get more answers on other threads, but I genuinely like this place the most!

1. We're looking to head down in early May 2017, so I'll have just over a year to prepare everything. We are DVC members, but I am looking for at least 2 2BR villas to accommodate everyone and we'll need to rent points to have enough to secure this size of a reservation. Can I use one of the DVC rental sites to transfer points DVC owners are willing to rent out to my account so I can make the reservation myself?

2. How likely is it that we would be able to get 2 2BR villas next to or close to each other? I' figuring we would share one of the villas with my brother in law and his family since we would be the ones with the kids that need to run around without causing chaos around everyone else. However, I know Grandma and Grandpa will want to be around a ton, so I want to keep them close, especially on those nights when we want to head to Jellyrolls to let off some steam!

I know I'll have a ton more questions, but I'm glad that my Disney fix is getting stoked again. Great to see everyone again!

And we were there those exact same dates in 2015 and swam almost every day!!

I know you said you liked it here best and I understand that, but you may get the answers to your DVC questions better answered on the DVC forums.
We are DVC owners too. But I do not feel like an expert in transfer questions. I don't think most of t he rental brokers deal in point transfers though
As far as 2 2 BR Villas being near each other that would be a request and like any and all other requests it will depend on availability at the time of check in. Which resort(s) are you looking at. The bigger the resort - OKW & SSR - I would think the easier that might be. But you can not count on it.
Congratulations on your expanding family and have fun planning

If anyone gets a newly done BCV room, please share more photos. I love the new decor.

:welcome: to the thread!

I second your request for more photos!!!

:cool1:

I am currently in a studio in BCV on the 5th floor. It looks like they may be done with the wing on this floor. There is no construction wall blocking it off, and you can see the new carpeting as you walk by.

Thanks for letting us know what you are seeing during your stay. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

:goodvibes

Got checked in yesterday (friday) at 11am. We did on line check in, but never got the email or text for the room. However, when I went to the desk, our room was ready right away.

The room condition is awesome. Never would one suspect a refresh is scheduled later this year. We got a high floor as requested, and our "garden view" is overlooking the yacht club quiet pool and a side view of the tennis courts.

We hit SAB yesterday for a few ours to relax after check in. Water was cool but refreshing. Not crowded at all. SAB is open until 10pm this week.

We hit EPCOT and I would judge it as a 6 in crow level. Had FP+ for Figment and spaceship earth, and didn't use them. Standby was no wait. Test track wasted, but not uber crowded.

Tepan Edo was dinner and we enjoyed it.

That is about it. I will post some pictures tonight.

Thank you so much for your report. Glad things are starting off well and hope the rest of your trip is great!

I know a few have posted here saying that weather in December is totally unpredictable. I'll edit in my post from the FAQ section on Page 1:

My trip is in December (November/January/February). Will it be warm enough to swim in SAB? That depends. Where are you from?

The weather and temperature in Florida can vary greatly in the winter months. One day you are bundled up in coat and wool hat. The next you are in shorts. You can have extreme conditions in the same week.

The pools at Disney are all heated. The problem is usually not when you are in the pool, but it is the air temperature when you get out. Make sure you have a towel close by.

There is certainly a chance that one or more days of your vacation will be warm enough for swimming. As Scar so eloquently sings in the Lion King "Be Prepared!"

Pack your swimsuit and hope for the best!

Trying so hard to add a night at BC, april 28. Man, resort availability is getting scarce!!

Wishing you luck as you keep trying!!! Availability changes all the time, so keep looking.

Going to YC CL for the first time on our honeymoon in May :) I grew up staying at the Beach Club with my family, so I'm excited to try a new place!

I Love it KatesDad! Thanks for being such a positive, helpful member of this thread!!

In keeping with this train of thought I also could see the annual pass going up during the next leap year. If scientists agree to add another second to the atomic clock that would be yet another opportunity for an up charge. The bathrooms are ripe for tiered pricing but I really think farts should remain free.

On the dining front it would be BYO utensils unless you wanted to pay extra and could a special 4 ounce refillable mug be far behind for Food and Whine?

Now we get to the rooms! Remember when we were kids and they used to have the mini bars in the hotel rooms? Well it's time for them to make a comeback. Who here would be powerless if they stocked the mini bar with 1 ounce bottles of $14 Sunken Treasure drinks. Heck! With this group drinking them ALL of the debt from Shanghai, Disney Paris, Pandora and the Magic bands would be wiped OUT! Could the return of Oreo Bon Bons positively impact Disney's financial bottom line? You betcha, especially at the low low Disney price of $9.99 per tiny oreo. The fact that one has had too many of those 1 ounce, mini bar, Sunken Treasures is sure to boost the Oreo Bon Bon market share.

With Anna and Elsa getting long in the tooth I think it's time we introduced the newest Disney characters, "Nickle and Dime". We could follow them on their adventures as they destroy a beloved theme park in their quest for ever growing profits. They would be minions of the evil Mr. Greed who's motto is "Give 'em less and charge 'em more".

Of course we would never get to do a character meet and greet with Nickle and Dime as that has been discontinued as part of the massive entertainment cuts, but we will be satisfied that their presence can be felt all over the parks and resorts everytime we have to open our wallets at WDW.

They have a very nice room in the villas building called the Drawing Room which has a billiard table. They also have the Solarium in the Beach Club which might be considered a community hall.
Are Guest staying at BC allowed to use the billard table at BCV?

Hi all, I am a long time lurker of this thread. We stayed at YC GV last August for 2 weeks and I've been suffering from post-Disney depression since we got back (we are from the UK & as we got engaged on this trip:lovestruc we need to save for a wedding, so I don't know when our next WDW trip will be- hopefully a Disneymoon!) so I've only just been going through the photos recently. I took a couple of pictures from our balcony for Dee to add to the YC room view thread if it would be helpful, as I read so much helpful advice on here when we were planning our trip that hopefully I can contribute these to future planners:) our only room request was for a quiet location, and we got room 3012, I think. It was in the very last wing of YC, closest to Swan/Dolphin, and our room was right at the end of a hall. As I said, we booked GV and straight ahead we had a view of a bit of a canal and some large trees, but if we looked to the left we had a partial water view of Crescent Lake & a bit of Boardwalk :) we were able to see some of the Frozen fireworks from our balcony too. When we checked in I asked if there were any 'secret exits' by the room and the CM gave me a bit of a funny look :rolleyes1 but said there were exit stairs right across the hallway from our room. We used this entrance/exit most of the time as it was a lot quicker and more scenic to walk along the waterfront than through the winding hallways- unless we were really hot & then we went with the longer internal walk for the A/C! Anyway, here are the links to imgur where I have uploaded the photos, hopefully they work :) http://imgur.com/7MhDoEP & http://imgur.com/nNB8bYa
Thank you to all the contributors on this thread who make this such a fun & informative place to hang out :worship::thanks:
