With the new limitations on the amount of beer you can bring on-board the ships, I thought it might be a good idea to get a good on-board craft beer list started so those of us who enjoy it can find it. Please, this is not a forum to debate the new rules, but a tool to help fellow craft beer drinkers plan their trip. If you have cruised on DCL in the last year, please let us know what ship you were on and what establishments had craft beer. Just for the record, I personally do not consider Blue Moon a craft beer, nor Beck's since they were bought out by AB Inbev. But hey, if that is what you like, feel free to share, other reads may enjoy it also. Thanks in advance for all those who share!

I read that they have a few varieties of Cigar City beers on the cruises leaving out of Florida. I am curious to hear what is available on the Alaska cruises.

Cruised on the Fantasy in November.. They had: Cigar City Jai Alai and Invasion in cans. (Cigar City date stamps on the bottom of the cans so you can check for freshness which is very important in Jai Alai.) Bells 2Hearted and Oberon in bottles. On draught near the pools was Florida Beer Company Sunshine State Pils (which IMHO was very good.) The bar on the other side of the pool deck had another Florida Beer company beer on draught, but I some how never made it over there in 7 days.... I think I saw a Sam Adams Boston Lager.. Past that.. It's a craft beer waste land.. I carried on a mixed six pack from Total Wine.. Drank a Founders Breakfast Stout while on the boat in port at St. Thomas.. #winning

I'll be back on the Fantasy in February, so I'll get a better idea of what exactly is there

Alaska usually had Alaska Brewing out of Juneau, I did like their amber. Hawaii cruises had several varieties of Kona.

they'll have a lot of InBev because Disney has a contract with them.

Thanks for the updates. Last time I was on board the best thing they had on tap was Michelob Amber Bock, so the additions of the Florida Beer Company drafts is at least some improvements. Hopefully greater demand for craft beer will encourage them to continue to improve their selection. Were they still offering the deal where you buy a cooler and get a 6 pack with it?

I have not been on the Alaska cruise, but I have been to Anchorage and enjoyed several of Alaska Brewing's selections. Thanks for the input.

I brought a sixer of Ten Fidy on board this last cruise. Drank a bit of Jai Alai. Not a huge Invasion fan.

They also have St. Stefanus available in the MDRs, but you have to ask for it. I've had it on the Dream and the Fantasy. This last cruise our Cove Bar bartender actually went and got it, as well as some really nice St. Stefanus goblets, for us. This last one we had was a 2012 bottling.

Not sure about that deal but on the Fantasy this summer they were offering a buy 24 get four free deal. You could mix and match six-packs of the available bottled and canned beers and for every six you bought you got one free. I had Two Hearted and Jai Alai; DW and DD had Blue Moon. They deliver the beers to your room and you can keep them cold in your refrigerator or exchange a warm bottle or can for a cold one at any bar that stocked what you had.

I didn't see anything about buying a cooler and getting a six pack..

Just got off the Dream. Currents had the following Craft Beer:

Bells: 2 Hearted (bottle)
Bells: Oberon (bottle)
Cigar City: Jai Ali (can)
Cigar City: Invasion (bottle)
Kona Brewing: Longboard (draft)
Kona Brewing: Castaway (bottle)

They also had the following "We call it craft but....."

Sam Adams: Boston Lager (Bottle)
Blue Moon: Belgian White (Bottle)
Shock Top: Belgian White (Draft)

Not meaning to hijack, but....I'm a massive Kona fan (Fire Rock IPA is my fave). Has anyone visited their brewery in Kona? Just booked us on a Hawaii cruise for 2017 (tacking on an Aulani stay at the end!) and Kona is one of the ports. Hoping to make it one of my stops that day. Maybe I'll post this over on the Aulani board too.

Anyone know the price of a Jai Alai on the Fantasy? It's the beer I would usually carry on, but now that there's a limit, I might bring some wine instead...

Is there a place in Cozumel near the pier to buy beer? We probably won't have a chance to pick any up before setting sail.

Thanks for the list Gruffudd242!

FWIW, most craft beer enthusiasts don't consider Kona to be craft, given that AB InBev owns almost a third of the company.

Phinz,
It is surprising just how much AB Inbev actually owns...Long Hammer, Kona, Goose Island, and as of last January, Elysian! The list goes on and on. But I reckon a Longboard is better than Budweiser or Coors light, any day.

It was 6.50 and with the auto-gratuity it was 7.58 on the Dream. I suspect the prices are the same on the Fantasy

Kona/Widmer/Redhook are all part of the same group, 1/3 owned by AbInBev... Recently we've seen Golden Road out of Los Angeles, Saint Archer out of San Diego, Four Peaks (I think) out of Arizona and in the last couple weeks Brekenridge out of Colorado all purchased by big beer afraid of the growing craft movement. Firestone Walker/Boulevard /Ommegang are now all owned by Duval Moortgat out of Belgium. Lagunitas sold half of their company to Heineken for a reported 400 Million and Ballast Point out of San Diego, was just bought by Constellation Brands (owner of Modelo, Corona etc) for 1 Billion...

Yup, and they've all dropped from my drinking list. I also don't drink beer from bullies like Bell's.
