Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Hi everyone!! I am excited that we are finally going to stay at the BC! I just booked May 28- June 3, 2016. However, I am not too jazzed about the standard view room category. It was the only room category available through the travel agency we are using. It was a good deal, so I went with it. I'm trying to remind myself that the view isn't all that important; I plan to either be in a park or at SAB. :yay:

Can anyone suggest what sort of requests I can make as far as rooms go? I am not that familiar with the resort, so I am not even sure what we want. We are traveling with our 2 sons, ages 9 and 12. I think daybed is high on the list because they are wild sleepers and need their own space. Other than that, I do not know! Do we want to be close to the lobby, pool, or as close to the EPCOT entrance as possible? A full balcony isn't important to me since the view will be less that desirable. We plan to spend a good bit of time at the pool and EPCOT/HS.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

It is tough to suggest what the best room recommendation is since it will be different for every family, depending on what is most important.

I would prefer the location "close to lobby" over "close to EPCOT" because that will put you nearest to the lobby/Marketplace/transportation and Stormalong Bay. Plus, the walk from the BC lobby to the International Gateway to EPCOT is just 5-7 minutes, so I find that it isn't important to be close to that exit.

Possible wording for your room request would be "Daybed, please. Close to BC lobby, if possible."

We'll be there at the same time! We are booked May 29-June 3, also in a standard room.

I booked standard because it would have been almost $100 more per night to move up to garden view. I did already add full balcony to my request, debating about "close to epcot" and I'll probably add daybed. The CM caught me off guard when I was booking and she asked if I had any room requests.

Guess where I am?

This room has a great view, as you can see. Will post the room number when we leave. Asked for a full balcony on a high floor with online check in. Decided the day before we arrived that with such a short trip, we'd rather have the view because we really won't have time to sit on a balcony. So, we ended up with a Juliet balcony but the view is so lovely that we prefer it this way. In fact, I would ask for this room the next time in hopes of getting it again. Not close to the secret exit, but that's ok, too. I really need a nice view, I guess!

The rooms are so nice! Don't know why they'd put cream-colored sofas in them, though - ours has a small stain on it already from a previous occupant.

Loving our first time at the BC!

Thanks for posting Erika. I need a little Disney sunshine right now. My dad passed away this weekend. Even tho he was in declining health for a long time, the end was sudden & unexpected. It has been a hard week. My DH & I will need our WD trip more than ever now. My parents went to WDW several times, but only once with us, at the YC, the only time they ever stayed there. I have been smiling at those memories. It was in 2001-- I only wish I could remember every minute we spent there with him!
I am sorry for your loss.

Staying at Beach Club for the first time! Will be there at the end of November... Any "hotel musts" that I need to see or do while I'm at Beach Club? I saw the trick about being close to the exit for the walkway to EPCOT (head to room 1501). Any more tips/tricks I should know? I have a standard view reserved.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Posts 13 (FAQ) and 14 (Other Useful Info) on Page 1 of this thread have some interesting info, like spots to watch fireworks from outside the parks and quirky tips (like why you may want to take your refill mug into EPCOT)

Since the Yacht club refurb is just getting underway any guesstimates on when CL rooms will be done or when the lounge will be done based on how long it took them with the BC refurb?

Don't know for sure, but it should take approx. the same amount of time, or possibly less, unless there are issues we don't know about. I haven't heard if the lounge is going to be expanded by using the space from any guest rooms.

YC club lounge renovation started mid-Oct 2015

Historical recount/timeline of BC renovation

Oct 2014-August 2015 Early August 2014: Work on club level lounge commenced. BC Presidential Suite temporarily used for lounge offerings

September 30, 2014: Newly refurbished and expanded BC Club Level lounge opens

October 12, 2014: 5th Floor/Club Level closed to guests for renovation. Temporary lounge set up in one of the Suites for Deluxe, 1BR and 2 BR Suite guests.

early December: BC club level rooms available for guest occupancy.

First stay at YC Nov 6-9(October 31-Nov 6 @ CSR Business Class)! So excited and it is a surprise for DD(9) and DD (10). Best options for breakfast at YC/BC? They really love Mickey waffles but don't see them as an option other than Cape May Cafe and that is booked solid. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

:welcome:

Glad to have you here. I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Others have given some great tips about breakfast ideas.

:cheer2:

You will love the YC. If we need to grab breakfast you can either sit down (table service) at Captain's Grille (can be a walk up) or a quick walk over to the Boardwalk Bakery or even France in WS. You can also grab continental breakfast type of stuff at Ale and Compass along with coffee and soda, which is in the YC lobby. When we first jumped over to YC four years ago from WL and POFQ, we had to readjust from food court breakfasts but we just order breakfast items from GArden Grocer for our room and also do love the tables out on the boardwalk in the morning when we grab breakfast there. You will find the YC is sooo worth giving up a few food court breakfasts. Enjoy!

Great post! Thanks!

I am so excited to be staying at the Yacht Club for the first time August 26 for 8 nights! Our first time at a deluxe in years. We've stayed at POR and CBR the last few years because we're a family of 5, and even though I really loved them, so excited to try something new!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

I'm so sorry about your dad. Expected or unexpected, it's hard to lose a parent.

Teena - I hope you're feeling better soon!

We're less than three months from our trip now, which is sort of scary. So much to do and going on between now and then. And I still have to call and sign us up for the educational part of our trip. I think I'm going to miss being at the BC.

Dee just ate at Captain's Grille an hour ago and I can confirm that the eggs are able to be cooked your way from the buffet (omelet or over easy etc).

We tried to get into Beaches and Cream for a walk up lunch yesterday. They said 35 minute wait. We ate at Captain's Grille and we wanted ice cream afterwards. We went to return the pager we were given earlier and told a 40 minute wait for a counter seat. We got our sundaes to go. There was only one occupied booth, one table occupied and a second one got sat while our order was filled and the entire counter was empty. Not sure why the long wait. It took a few minutes to get our ice cream and only the one couple was sat. No one else was waiting outside.

Thanks for those reports!

How frustrating with B&C! I guess that is one of the problems now that they take Advanced Dining Reservations. But it is sad to hear that the restaurant was empty at the same time customers wanted to dine there.

DH was very frustrated with it. He commented on it again this morning.

So I am new to this board and let me say you guys are exactly what was missing from my life! I have been reading all these post for the past 3 days while the flood warnings are strong here in Texas thanks to Patricia!

My husband and I will be doing our first solo trip ever at BC from May 27-May 30 2016! This trip is very important to us for so many reason but I'll give you the cliff notes version:

We met when I was 19 and have been together for 13 years. This May is our 8th wedding anniversary! In the 13 years we have been together it has been a ride! We have a total of 8 kids: 2 from his first marriage 21, 18 2 we adopted 19,18, and our 4 10,7,3,2! Our lives changed drastically in 2012 when his brother passed away at 38. My husband stopped living. This caused a huge strain in our marriage. Fast forward 3 years and I had just had enough. We separated for 4 months. After a lot of tears and arguments and playing the blame game I called him to come to the house and looked him in his face and said "I have invested 12 years into this and I am not one to give up" I put his ring back on his finger and that was the end of that! But it wasn't that easy we still had a lot of work to do. in June my SIL called and wanted me to plan a last min. Disney trip for her family! Of course I did because planning Disney trips is my happy place! But I got to thinking that maybe we should join her so we did. Trip was a quick one at POFQ and we had 6 of the kids with us. And something happen: my husband and I reconnected in ways we hadn't connect in years. We were laughing, and playing and enjoying each other's company! It was what saved our marriage. And our children were over joyed to see mom and dad this way! My SIL and BIL were also moved by this and wound up coming home with a new addition to the family expected to debute in April.

Fast forward again: we decided to take a trip back to Disney on our own! As I said we will be there in May. We have a 2 day park hopper and a platinum dining plan! Staying in a Standard view room. I am really wanting this trip to be as magical as I can make it. Any pointers, suggestions, recommendation, ANYTHING is so appreciated! Thanks for sharing all of your stories and experiences! It was fun getting to know all of you!

Is it a long way to the laundry room from a standard room?

Can't really answer that- standard rooms are spread all throughout the resort (except on the first floor), so depending on where the standard room is, it could be close to the laundry room or it could be far away. Both BC laundry rooms are in the same general area. The rooms that are on the "Yacht Club" side of the lobby would be the ones furthest from the laundry room and rooms in the wing near to EPCOT would be the closest.

:)

Wow. I am so happy for you and your husband and that Disney had a "little" bit to do with this. Pixie Dust is magical!

There are dozens of great things to do, too many to list here! I think just being with each other in the parks and able to re-connect with no other disturbances around (read: kids) will be the best part of this trip for the two of you. Just hang on until then!
