What was best total splurge money you ever spent?

Now that football season has started, I was thinking how a couple of years ago when I bought our family four tickets to the Auburn Alabama game and we got to see Auburn run the ball back from the end zone with one second on the clock to win the game....was the best total splurge money we had ever spent! And each ticket was incredibly expensive, like $400! But to see that game in person, wow! That game ending has been spoken of as one of the most sensational moments in sports history. And we were there. Best spent splurge ever!

You?

Probably our vacation home in Florida. We decided to do it way too quick and I wonder if we'd have made some different decisions if we'd have slowed down a bit.

This past April: Les Miserables on Broadway, Second row, center. The tickets weren't ridiculously expensive, but we could have paid a lot less if we were further back. We had all seen the show multiple times before that, but this one took the prize. It was amazing! Worth every single penny.

Our trip to Japan. Definitely a once in a lifetime trip. Except, after having miso soup 3 times a day for 3 weeks, I've developed a lasting aversion to the wretched stuff.

I own a very fancy toilet and it's worth every ridiculous penny I spent on it. It's got a heated seat, washlet, and a motion activated lid along with other features. Love it!

A daytrip to White Island, a small active volcano off the coast of New Zealand. It was expensive and unplanned but absolutely unforgettable.

Volcanic vents spouting high pressure sulphuric acid fog (you need a gas mask to explore), crazily colored pools and landscapes, and amazing wildlife (so many whales investigating our boat).

VIP package 2nd row seats to the Who in 2012. Our favorite group playing our favorite album, Quadrophenia. We got personal attention from both Keith and Roger. Trip wise it would be Club Level at BWI and Butler Service at an AI in Jamaica.

Ocean view room at Aulani. We rented DVC points, but it was still $700 for 2 nights. DH resisted strongly, and only relented when he realized we would be allowed to use the facilities on check-out day (and our flight was at 10PM). After the first hour, he was hooked.

Another splurge that was pretty fun, is that we bought 2 VIP tickets for the professional cycling race here in Colorado. What is keeping it from being the best splurge was when the day came, I was pretty sick.

Weekend at Lake of the Ozarks with DW. We hadn't had a whole weekend away from the kids in years & we did it right - nice place with a spa, couples massage, iced champaign & rose petals in the room, nice dinner and a shared dessert. DW was going through major stress at work with a new boss & it was spilling over into home life. This didn't cure everything, but was a major attitude adjustment for us both. Dropped close to a grand including meals over 48 hours, but so very worth it. :)

I moved heaven & earth to get DH a round of golf at Torrey Pines during a vacation in San Diego. It was one of his "bucket list" things - I don't regret it a bit (but I'm not likely to ever do something similar again :rotfl2:).

I'm planning/hoping to buy Sorcerer's Tickets to D23 in 2017. That will be my first ever "this is absolutely ridiculous" splurge. I splurge sometimes but not to an extent of a couple thousand dollars for a weekend.

My trip to Disneyland 2000. I tagged along on a friend's trip. I spent money like it was going out of style. Hands down one of the best trips I have ever had. I fell head over heels in love with Disneyland. I had grown up going to the Disneyland, but this was my first time going more than one day. There was so much to do! I spent probably close to $1000 if not more. Worth every penny!

whole house generator thats tied into electric panels and 1000 gallon propane tank.

may not seem exciting or memorable-but when everyone in your neck of the woods is without power, worrying about how they are going to keep all the food in their fridge and freezer from spoiling let alone how they will get water from their well to so much as flush their toilets, keep their homes warm (when it's below zero) let alone cook something to eat............it's the splurge that keeps on giving.
