Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

We are using the DME with luggage tags for our cruise. I would like to bring alcohol on the ship, however I cannot pack it in my carry on for the plane. Is it possible to catch the checked bags at baggage claim remove the alcohol and give the bags back to the Disney luggage service?

I doubt it. Any bags tagged with DME tags don't get out into the public areas. I would post over on the cruise boards to see if they have a more definitive answer.

Question: My son and his roommate are meeting DH and I at WDW hotel resort. We live in Jersey and will fly down for Princess Marathon Weekend 2016, they live in southern Florida and are flying up. We have the room in my name and I have added the boys to the reservation, but this was after DH and I called to inform DME of our flights. The boys are airline employees and must fly stand by, leaving them unknowing of their flight home until the day of. Getting to resort is not a problem as they can just pick up their bags and check in at DME, board a bus and get to resort. How do they use DME to get back to MCO?

Well now...that's an interesting situation. Will they have any idea as to time? I guess they would probably have to head back 3 hrs prior to the first possible flight...then sit and wait for a flight. I doubt that they can just hop on any bus....you might want to call DME directly and ask them. Otherwise, it looks like a cab would work best.....it would prevent a lot of sitting around at the airport.

I did as you suggested and called DME direct. Apparently this is not an unusual situation for them and employees of airlines. The boys just have to call a day prior to them leaving and give DME the time of the flight the want to try and be on and DME will place them on their pick up list.

We have a long weekend getaway planned for December, staying at the YC. We'll fly down late Friday night after work with an 11:30pm arrival. I got a great price on the Hyatt at MCO which is cheaper than adding another night at YC and more convenient since we'll be ready to drop by then, even if our flight arrives on time, having been up since 5am. :faint:

So I know that we'll have to claim our bags and bring them to the Hyatt with us. I found some early morning flights to use to enter for our ME ride to YC but what happens when we get to the resort? We would then be tipping the driver for handling our bags and then we bring them in with us at check in?
Assuming our room isn't ready that early, 9am-ish, would bell services then deliver them to our room once it's ready, as we would otherwise get if we had a same day flight to MCO? That would be nice if we could check in then run to the parks and find all of our bags in our room when we return. Is this something I need to request at check in? Or do they do it automatically? Or do we have to call to have them brought to our room once we return?

Thanks!

I know I have read in the past that DME will deliver your bags when you are not in your room, but bell services WILL NOT. Not sure why that is although it may be because they want their tip? Or maybe they used to and had people say it wasn't delivered, wrong bags were delivered or something was missing. I really don't know, just guessing.

Your bags will get delivered to your room whether you're in the room or not.

If DME handles your baggage (tagged and retrieved at MCO), all tips have been taken care of. And the bags will be automatically delivered to your WDW resort room. BUT....if, for any reason, you claim your untagged bags at baggage claim, and take them with you, either to an airport hotel, or just to the DME bus with you, your bags will not be automatically delivered to your WDW resort room. Your bus driver will expect a tip for baggage handling. And if you get help with your bags at the airport hotel (coming or going) that person will be looking for a tip. Then, when you get to your WDW resort, if your room isn't ready, your bags can be stored with Bell Services (or Luggage Assistance depending on the resort). BUT.....when you are able to get into your room, you will have to call down to Bell Services to have your bags brought to the room. You have to be in your room in order for the bags to be delivered. And yes, that CM will expect a tip. Bell Services will NOT deliver bags to an unattended room. The only time that will happen is if the bags arrived via the DME luggage truck....as I said, those tips have been taken care of, by Disney. How, I don't know. I just know that that's what we've been told.

Yeah, I should've specified that I meant when you tag the bags for DME to retrieve at the airport.

My return flight does not leave until 8:35, but I have to check out that morning. I am assuming there is a place to put my luggage, but will DME get my bags or will I need to bring my bags to the shuttle?

If you're flying on a 'participating' airline you can check your bags right at your resort that morning...and get your boarding pass printed! The RAC counter (remote airline checkin) is open from 5am-1pm and is found right outside your resort entry doors.
If, for some reason, you can't use RAC, you can leave your bags with Bell services until it's time to leave. With a flight at 8:35, I imagine your p/u time will be around 5:30...give or take 15 mins either way. You will want to be back at the resort at least 30 mins prior to the stated p/u time. That way you can collect any bags you've left at Bell Services. Then be out at the bus stop, with your bags, 15 mins prior to pick up.
Your bags will be stowed beneath the bus and handed back to you when you get to the airport.

I'm flying Delta. Are they a participating airline? And how much time do you think should I budget to get from MK to All Star Sports before my p/u time?

Yup, you're good to go with Delta. I would plan on leaving MK no later than 4:00. Yes, I know that seems early. But, if you get to the MK bus stops and your bus to Sports is just leaving, you could be there waiting for the next one for 20 or so mins!! Better safe than sorry.
I like to bring my bags to the RAC counter as I leave for a park on departure morning. I stow my boarding passes someplace safe. Then, I return to the resort about 45 mins prior to p/u time so I can use the ladies room, get any carry on bags out of storage, hit the gift shop one last time and be at the bus stop 15 mins before my p/u time.

We leave in 6 days. I just added 1 night to the front of our trip at POP on 9/8. We already have luggage tags and DME booklet. When I booked the room the CM advised me to take a pen and correct the yellow tags (they currently have Poly with arrival date of 9/9) to have new date and new resort. Has anyone else ever done this? did it work?

Yes, it will work. Has the reservation number remained the same? If it didn't, there could be an issue. They are supposed to scan the bar code, which would bring up your reservation details. But, I truly believe that the workers merely look at the tag and see which resort it is and then send it to that pile. The bag may not get scanned more than once, probably as it goes into the baggage cage.
So, sure, just cross out the Polynesian and carefully write in Pop. If the number has changed, that's a different story.

The number has changed. I basically reserved a room only for the night before and asked if it could be put on same reservation, but CM said no and gave me new reservation number. We don't have direct flight so really don't want to carry on, and don't want to wait for bags. I guess worst case is the bags end up at Poly. Maybe I'll pack a carryon backpack with enough to get through the first night:( Just in case...
