And our daughter and her family arrive on Wednesday! It is exciting to have so many Dis-ers there at the same time.

If we came to the cabins with a large group (so needing 2 cabins), is it possible to guarantee neighbouring ones? Or, would they just put them in roughly the same area/"road"?

As I understand it, Disney's rule is that connecting/adjacent rooms are never guaranteed. But your odds are really good that you'll get it. (Me, I've only requested it three times, and got it all three times.)

Since you used the words cabin and road, I am wondering if you are asking about Fort Wilderness, not Wilderness Lodge?
Even Disney confused the two on one of our trips. We stayed our first night at All Star Sports and they accidentally delivered our luggage to FW instead of WL. We got a free mini-fridge ( back when they used to charge for them) for having to wait longer for our stuff.

Yippee! I changed my reservation from direct through Disney to through Orbitz and I now have a Woods Bunk + Queen for less than the Woods 2 Queens.

This will be great for my kids, I think.

Thanks to the PP who asked about noise, and the reply with the horns from the boats. I have to think about this. Not sure how this will affect sleep so I may opt for a south wing room request.

There are shower facilities at the Sturdy Branches Health Club located in the villas building near the villas pool.

Hello! We stayed at WL for the first time last May and loved it so much we're staying again in October 16th - 21st: can't wait!!!!

We stayed at the WL that same time last year and loved it. The weather was perfect, too.

I feel the need to clarify for new people reading this thread who aren't familiar with the WL and the Villas. If you are in a Courtyard View room you are not in a deluxe studio, which is a DVC villa. Those are in a separate building and have views of the quiet pool or woods.
It sounds like you are describing a Deluxe WL room, which is a hotel suite containing a wet bar, bedroom, and living room. Most of these are at the ends of the wings, but I think there are some midway down the wings on each floor as well.
Glad they were able to give you a nicer view!

My parents are in the Villas, and have a Deluxe Studio. They used our DVC points, which is why I was the one to do the requests on their room.

We have a regular Courtyard View and do not have a Deluxe WL room. We used our Passholder Discount on this room.

~New~ DISNEY'S FORT WILDERNESS RESORT & CAMPGROUNDS THREAD 2014 ~

The cabins are in a different area of WDW, not adjacent to the Wilderness Lodge hotel. However, they are a short boat ride apart, connected by a walking trail and a dedicated bus, so it is easy to travel between the 2 for dining.

You will need to decide if you are looking for a villa or hotel room (located at WL) or a cabin or campsite (located at FW). The 2 do not share pools or other common areas.

Woot!! I get to the lodge on Saturday also!! Weather is looking good! I'm working my packing list. Evidently our room is set-we need wheelchair access, and when I called last week they said it's already assigned.

I have 24 hrs to go...getting ready to check in for our flight and make our final payment on our room...

Not sure what you mean by a studio at WL but typically the studios in the villas are more expensive than the regular rooms in the lodge. The studios at the villa do have a queen bed, pull out sofa, and a Murphy bed that sleeps just one.

Have a great trip!!! We took the boat over for lunch at Whispering Canyon last weekend and everything looked great. Just some scaffolding on one side of the bear face, but that was it. Our quick visit for lunch really made us look forward to our stay in March. Really looking forward to your updates - enjoy!!!
