Mom/Daughter Disney Duo: Road trippin in the South (Disney's HHI & Savannah GA)

After about an hour's drive from Savannah, GA, we arrived at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort! We were so excited about this portion of our trip. This would be our first visit there. I just couldn't believe we have been missing out on this place, as we live in SC, but it's about a 5 hour drive from us.

Making our way upstairs, there was Shadow's dog house! How cute!

There's a neat back story to Shadow the Disney Dog and his handler, B'Lou.
From what I understand, the dog, as a puppy, began to linger around the resort as they were building it in the 1990's. They "adopted" him in, because he stuck around and wouldn't leave. B'Lou became his official handler (not sure how this came about). They make regular appearances throughout the resort with many activities, such as story telling for the kids, and outdoor game activities. Sadly, we didn't get to meet Shadow, but we did get to meet B'Lou, and he was a really sweet guy!

As we made it to the second level, where the resort office is, I just had to get a quick pic of the gorgeous view from upstairs!

We checked in, and received our Disney "Keys to the World" cards, which is very similar to the WDW cards, that open your resort room door and you can put your charges on there.

We arrived fairly early, around 12pm, and was hoping to get early check in. So the cast member checked us in and said they would text us when the room was ready. So we just walked around the resort for a bit enjoying the gorgeous-ness of it all!!

And just an hour later, they texted and let us know the room was ready.

1pm check-in time works for me!!


So excited, we rushed out to the porch for a quick pic, before exploring our gorgeous room!!!

Room pics!!


When I was looking into booking this resort, it was kind of last minute, so there wasn't many room options left to choose from. We got a 2 bedroom, which has a ton of room, that we definitely didn't need, but that's all that was available.

So, this was a splurge for us, as we usually just stay in a double-room when we travel.

We were just in awe as soon as we stepped in! And I couldn't help but take a ton of pics!


I was so excited to get in and check the room out, I never did get a good pic of the outside of our building, but most of them look the same from the outside, so I'll have a few pics of them later.

When you walk in, there's an entry way to the left, with a coat rack and a bench, which is a great place to store extra stuff! (and luggage)

You can see the pier from our porch! And that's where the quick service dining, gift shop, pool, etc is located!

This bathroom is attached to the master bedroom, which includes the jacuzzi tub and a huge sink area with a closet.

And as you go out from the sink area, there's a doorway to the bathroom, which includes a shower:

They had DVC info channels, and a channel for the resort, showing activities, schedules, etc...

We explored around the resort a little more!!

(There's a phone by the bus stop here, and the beach house, so when you're ready, you can call and let them know! But we didn't realize it till after the bus driver told us, so for the first bus trip, we just sat there till he arrived! But it wasn't too long!)

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year!

One of the highlights of our Christmas, was my surprise for DD.
She picked out most of her gifts as we shopped together but on the day before Christmas Eve, I gave her an early, surprise......

tickets for us to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, ON Christmas Eve Day!

The only showing I could go to was on Christmas Eve, which would be my only day off because of my work schedule. (I had to work on Christmas Day)

Even though we couldn't take photos during the show, we had to get a few that we could.

It was a rainy day, so I didn't get any pics outside.

And here we are, getting ready for our Christmas get-together, and DD wearing her new shirt from the show!

We arrived at Disney's Beach House!!

As you enter the gate, the first thing you'll see is the pool area.

But more from the beach house later, cause we were wanting to get to the beach, quickly!

We came across several of these along the beach: washed up horseshoe crabs (poor little fellas)

So then we headed back to the beach house, to get a bite to eat, before returning to the beach.

As we got ready to head back to the beach, I had to get one of my favorite Disney desserts.......A Dole Whip!!!

What could be better having than a Dole Whip on the Beach?!

We saw lots of "family" birds, with little babies. Aren't they the cutest?!!

And we got a little excited/crazy on the beach, and decided to do some fun pics!

Well, my jumping pic didn't look as glamorous!

We then made our way back to the beach house, to lounge around and play a few games.

We took a shot at this game, an air hockey game, and ping pong (didn't get a pic of those). It was really fun!

We then made our way to Surfmen's Station, an indoor area of the beach house, with games, lounging areas, and a TV.

We decided to head back to the resort, and waited just a few short minutes for our bus!

And again, we were on an empty bus!!! (not the best pic though)

That's one thing we really noticed about this resort..., not a crowded feel at all!!


The bus, pools, even around the resort area, was just so "not-crowded"!!
But later as we talked to a CM, she informed us that the resort was in fact, almost fully booked!! But I loved how it has an "empty" feel to it.
There's just so many things to do, around the resort, the beach house, the beach, around the island, that it never felt crowded, anywhere we were!

And to top it off, when the CM bus driver, took us back to the resort, we were talking about how we were surprised that the inside check- in area didn't have an ATM. And that we needed to find one. So she circled around to where the bus stop was, and since there wasn't anyone waiting there for a bus ride, she offered to drive us to a close-by ATM location !!! Now that's DISNEY SERVICE!!
