Hello all! Let's put our tween girl gift ideas here!

My daughter is NOT into any of the younger girl stuff....no princesses, no toys, no dolls. She does like clothes, card games, crafts, loves to watch National Geographic Channel (especially Brain Games) and Nat Geo Wild.

So far I will be getting:

Kinetic Sand
PJ'S
Hair accessories
Nail polish
Lava lamp

I need suggestions please :)

So far, mine is getting a gymastics hoodie, a pair of black combat boots (to match the brown ones she loves) and fleece sheets for her bed.

I'm also putting together a package with some of the crowd from work: we're getting out tween-and early-teenage girls a cupcake decorating lesson with a local baker. It will cost $50 per kid for the 2 hour class-- I'll book it for February break and make up a certificate for my girls to open. (Last year we did a makeup application class at a local beauty school for the older girls, and they got a huge kick out of it.)

Not really sure what else yet. There are no big gifts on the horizon (though, now that I think of it, my 11 year old really could use a new bicycle... hmmmm......)

Your daughter loves crafts... does your local Michaels or Joannes offer craft classes?

If she likes crafts, would you consider a sewing machine or a cross-stitch kit of some sort?

Any shows/events on the horizon that you can get her tickets for? For my daughter's February birthdays last year, I got them tickets to the summer Paramour/ Fall Out Boy concert at Jones Beach. (They DESPERATLEY wanted to go to a concert.)

Last year my daughter loved her Clarisonic gift.

This year she wants a lighted make-up mirror. I signed her up for an Ipsy monthly subscription and he is so excited to receive her first bag.

She usually has a very long list but I am scaling back. She isn't home right now or I could give you more idea. She is 11 and in 6th grade so no toys for her at all. I buy so much throughout the year that I told her Christmas presents are going to get smaller.

My tween niece just requested a volcano making kit, Jurassic Park 3 dvd, and a beanbag chair for her bedroom. It's a tough age and I think they are all different in their likes.

We're going to WDW for Thanksgiving this year, and on a DCL Baltic next summer - the trips, along with a rather expensive souvenir from Aulani (dubbed 'Christmas in July'), and DD12's been informed that she shouldn't expect anything from us under the tree this year! :rotfl: Fortunately, so far, she's okay with that - apparently because Santa will still bring her gifts! :rotfl2:

She will get PJs, because she always gets PJs. She'll probably get some iTunes gift cards and some Marvel-themed stuff. She still likes American Girl, and is a huge reader, so we'll probably pick up some kind of AG box set at Costco as well as some books for her (she prefers dead tree books over ebooks, mostly because she can take them to school) in her preferred genres, as well as perhaps some travel-themed books for our vacation next summer. Overall, a much smaller holiday, but hopefully she's getting more out of our travel than having yet more stuff around the house that eventually gets shoved in a closet! :thumbsup2

DD will be 10 the week after Christmas, and is more like a 16 year old than a 10 year old.

So far, since Santa always brings three gifts ... we're thinking a new computer, minecraft and the Sims 3 (maaaaaybe a few Sims extras, depending on the sales since Sims 4 just came out)

From us, we're talking about a few of the everyday cosplay dresses from Heruniverse. I'm trying to talk her into the tardis dress for Halloween, so probably the 10th and 11th doctors for Christmas? We're thinking of the boxed set of Percy Jackson, the first part of the series ....

Other than that we haven't figured anything out.

With her birthday the week after Christmas we're probably giving in and doing Universal (we're local) She's been asking to go to Universal for about two years, and she just hit the height requirement. Not to mention, it's her year for a birthday party ... and she wants a Yule Ball. :scared: Needless to say, we've got a nerd over here ... lol

I am looking for some non toxic make up that is geared towards kids. All the fun sets are made with horrible ingredients :(

One of my nieces is 11 and I am having a hard time on ideas for her this Christmas. So far I just have a hoodie from the GAP.

I would advise taking the tween to a real makeup counter, I prefer Clinique for the middle school ages, and getting sone real makeup along with an application lesson. Anything geared toward kids and dress up in frankly, crap.

Some ideas:

pillow pet (Disney is best!!)

funky/fashion heated throw

bedroom makeover w/bedding, curtains, rug, etc

gift card to Claire's, Justice, Bath & Body or where ever she loves to shop

Boots, sheepskin slippers/mocs or Toms

start or continue a collection (snow globes, ornaments, etc)

diamond ring soap (on Amazon...have money soap for the guys too)

I have 3 nieces to buy for, ages almost 10, almost 11 and 13. They are each getting a set of Jamberry nails. The younger two are also each getting a "Wreck this journal" and the 13 year old a small crossbody purse.

Ok my daughter is only 8 but she's at that point where she's outgrowing a lot of stuff. It's hard because she still believes in Santa. She wants the Harry Potter movies, fashion design stuff, and books, books, books... oh, and an iPad. Urgh.

and that's why I use Bare Minerals

DD has sensitive skin and Bare Minerals is the only makeup she was able to use for years that didn't cause redness or break outs!

My 11 year old will be getting clothes, James Avery necklace with soccer ball charm, a couple of board games, pj's, Bath & Bodyworks, a few things for soccer and probably a bluetooth speaker for the bathroom. The girl loves to listen to music while she is in the shower. I love these posts. I get some great ideas from here.

I use mineral fusion powder and also have their lipstick. It is so expensive though and they don't have a little kit where a girl cam try different thing.

iPad, case, giant stuffed cheetah, pjs, shirt, winter boots (the last 3 she would get anyway...just want her to have something to open with the iPad).

She will probably end up with some movies...maybe the corn dog maker on Amazon (I never buy them, but she loves them and can make her own without frying and with better ingredients).

Her birthday just passed and she got a shark hat (looks like a shark chomping down on the head...quite funny), phone, phone case, Dr Who stuff, stuffed llama (every holiday involves a stuffed animal!), cat wall stickers, and some Harry Potter and The Mummy DVDs.

I use Bare Minerals and have started my girls with that. I started with it through QVC, but if you have a store near you, they usually have a great Black Friday deal. They let you reserve it, too! Last year, I think I bought a kit for $49 that included 50 items. I split them all up and had gifts for my own girls and my nieces and some items for myself as well! I ended up spending less on all my nieces that way.
This year, I don't know what I am doing. I have a 13 and 15 year old and I miss the toy days.

We are redoing DD's-12yo in 6th grade, room for Christmas, got her a new comforter, new curtains, gonna paint the room, new chair to play her Xbox in her room. Things to decorate it. She already has an IPAD, Iphone, and a computer in her room, so no need for electronics this year. :thumbsup2 She is hard to buy for, no toys, a bit of a tomboy, so maybe some clothes. She has requested a new bike, but gonna let my mom get her that. Need some more ideas, she isn't into makeup or hair at all.

My kids aren't getting much for xmas this year. When I go into their rooms and see all that they have, I cringe. We need to purge!

I like the idea of giving them experiences rather than things. Thinking about getting DS some sessions with an athletic trainer. Maybe DD will get concert tickets.

And we always do a winter vacation which is a gift for the whole family. I'm planning it right now... debating about returning to Disney or doing a cruise.
