As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Wookie, really tough week and so sorry to hear about all of it. Many hugs to you. Such a sweet doggie. Is she a beagle? When/if you're up for it, I'd love to hear more about her.

Great news on the extra night - always love when we can make that work!

AW wookie so sorry to hear

dmndgal here's a  for you..teething..moving....:crazy2:

pixarmom AoA....hmmmmm I will stay tuned :hourglass

pixiedust: packing time for Ginny :cool1:

Krystal hope you get good news soon :flower3:

And another :grouphug: to all. Yesterday was a shared birthday of my DS6(now 6)...Poly and Epcot..how cool is that :goodvibes

Wookie - :( What a sweet pup. It's just not fair.

Pas - I noticed you guys are hitting the gulf coast. May I ask which beach you are going to? I need ideas! We're doing something similar in September. P.S Happy 6th Birthday to your little man. It's amazing how fast time flies!

Krystal - Hope you hear something soon! The waiting is hard!

Nothing really new to report for our trip. DD has been a nightmare this week. She's not eating and throwing these massive tantrums. She definitely has hit the terrible twos already :sad2:

Oh, and the new pup we took in right before the trip is doing really well. He had worms in his feces (TMI) but we've got that cleared up and he's gaining weight nicely. He is still a bit timid but he loves DD and does better each day. No one has come forward still. He will officially be ours March 6th!

Time does fly too fast, he's my baby :sad1: We love the Clearwater Beach area, haven't done Clearwater Beach proper...but we've stayed at St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island a few times and LOVE it there! Next summer we might venture a little further south on the Gulf to Siesta Key or Anna Maria Island..time will tell ;)

I think we're going to stay at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort. It's pretty much an all inclusive resort and it sounds like if we don't leave the property, there is plenty to do. It looks beautiful as well.

I think we might just fly in and out of Tampa. I'm sure car rentals there are more $$, but I don't want to drive after a flight from Orlando.

Just thinking out loud. :) If anyone has a better idea, speak up! ;)

I was actually was looking at that resort today LOL, it's a little pricey for us and we preferred the condo to a hotel. Just to have the W/D and all. We were able to get a 2Bd/2Br condo beachfront for under $900 for 6 nights. You could walk to lots of places, Publix, Walgreens, ice cream, Mickey Ds....I don't know if that would appeal to you. :goodvibes As far as Tampa, LOVED the airport. Much better pace than MCO, and the flights are usually cheaper. You can get a great rental on Hotwire usually too!

Hmm, I didn't even think about a condo. It would be nice to have a W/D for us especially with Disney thrown into the mix. Off to do more research...

We stayed at Surf Beach and Sunset Vistas on Treasure Island, both really nice.

Also at Alden Suites in St. Pete Beach, just meh...plus no in room W/D there

Thanks y'all. She was such a sweet. She had a love of licking people's toes and ears. When I puppy/ house sit for my sister to go out of town, she always slept between my knees and snored.

I'm really thinking this franchise thing is the right thing to do, because this was a week of just piling more and more crud on.

Title of this thread is currently the title of my life right now! hahahaha! I've literally went through every resort scenario for our Feb trip- I booked WL wood view- wanted standard but none available, looking at other close contenders would be switching to POR and save about $700 which is obviously a lot of money- it's in the budget to stay at WL but I'm a saver and love the idea of spending less!! :lmao: and so here it goes around and around and around.....never ending,
I'm also "justifying" the price of WL as only $470 more then I would pay at our fav mod CBR (want to try new resort this time) those numbers don't seem so scary- ugh you guys understand right?? Grace

:welcome:
I totally understand. The first trip we stayed at the CBR (pre-pirate renovations) and love it. Then for our 2nd trip, we stayed at the WL. Some things are just not all about the logic and more about the feel. If you like the look of the WL and it's in the budget, I would keep it. It's a beautiful resort. Plus the boat ride to the MK is wonderful.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-anges have been abundant around here! My mom and I were cranking out numbers and because we want to spend an extra week in Florida, we decided to change to the Pop Century resort MYW package. We are ditching the dining plan all together. It's just way too much food for her and I and we felt a bit constricted at dining times. This way we can eat what we want! :cool1: We are saving over $500 and we'll put that elsewhere. ;)

Yes, the rooms at Pop are small, but DD will be 2.5 and we won't be using a crib. We will make it work. :thumbsup2

I'VE FOUND MY PEOPLE!

So this trip has been in the works for a while since it's for my 30th birthday. When we talked about it, we always planned on staying deluxe and going all out. We stayed off site in May for the first time and loved it, and even though it is my birthday and a special trip I just could not justify staying on site. Well somehow I changed my mind. We are going to be there 9 nights, so I booked 3 nights at the Beach Club since I've always wanted to stay there and then 6 offsite. But I just wasn't excited about it and the biggest appeal of the BC is SAB and what if it's not warm enough to swim those 3 days? so back to offsite. Plus over $1000 for THREE nights seemed insane when I could stay all 9 nights offsite for that. Then somehow I ended up with 2 nights booked at the GF (the 3rd wasn't available) but that was somehow okay since it was the same price as 3 at the BC. So 2 at the GF, then 7 offsite. But that meant we were checking out of the GF on my birthday and that didn't seem fair. So we were going to do 1 night in a royal room at POR. Eh, for one night it didn't seem worth double offsite costs, plus we'd lose our 7 night stay discount so cancel that. Then I realized I really wanted to stay on site one more night for my birthday. So I booked BC again. I was apparently okay with not swimming at SAB on my birthday. $150 was too much for one night at POR but $300 wasn't too much for one night at the BC. Am I insane? okay probably at this point. Well all along I kept looking for a room at the GF for the third night. A few weeks ago an AP rate opened up for nights 2&3 yay! But that put me in a different room category for the first night. The first night with the fall discount was still almost $500. After realizing today that I would have to switch rooms while staying at the same resort, I didn't like that. If we have to change rooms, we might as well stay somewhere else. A standard room at the Polynesian with a AP rate was open, so I booked that. I had considered the Poly before we booked the GF (let's not even talk about how many other scenarios we talked about that I didn't actually book) but because of what I've read about the refurb, I decided against it. We will be in Disney next week so I have plans to see the Polynesian and if it is as bad as I have read, then I still have time after we get back to book a different resort. Of course all the while I will still be checking everyday for the room I really want at the GF to be available. Since I couldn't make up my mind about where we were staying, I didn't even book our offsite stay until last week (luckily Disney gets me and gives me up until day 5 before to cancel. Offsite people not so much) trying to pick that condo was a nightmare and I think my husband was about to lose his mind (no that couch doesn't look comfy. eww I don't like the color of those counter tops. That decor is terrible!) At the rate I'm going, who knows where we will actually stay. I gave up trying to change my signature every time I rebook LOL.

Hello and welcome! :welcome:
Yes, we understand resort indecision here. Sometimes it takes a little bit of changing before the fit feels right for many of us. What fun it will be to celebrate your birthday at WDW! :cake:
Fingers crossed the room you want at GF opens up. pixiedust:

I agree, wookie! My logic for our upcoming January trip is . . . suspect. I'm somewhat influenced by the Disney Visa discounts, but it's also because I'm looking at the plans and just can't let them be. I won't admit how many times I've called - switched BWI to Poly for the discounts, added an extra Poly night, took away a GF night, added back a GF night and took away an AKL night . . . Our youngest will now be spending his bday at Poly instead of GF (moved that earlier in the trip.) His response: "OK. I can have a birthday Dole Whip. What does a birthday Dole Whip look like?" We'll see how this all ends up when they release the general public discounts on Thursday.
