Does Club Level have applesauce for kids and soy milk? My son has food allergies and am just wondering if he will be able to eat anything.

I would get in touch with the concierge at BC Club level to see about applesauce and soy products. They didn't have any out when we were there but I did ask for milk for my little one in the evenings and they always brought some out.

Slightly off topic...

Anyone else hate "back to school"?

School for us has been back in session a whole 2 weeks and already both my girls are sick!! Oldest DD, 20, started first: congestion, ear infection, cough, etc.. Youngest DD, 16, upper respiratory (croupe - yes, she still gets it) and has been having a pain on her right side for the last few days that won't go away...already did bloodwork and now waiting for pediatrician to call with next steps. Praying that it's not her appendix .

Trying to keep my mind off things and really want to get excited for our anniversary trip which is now just 4 weeks away but dear Lord, it's always something :sad2:

ok, I'm done venting now...sorry for the interruption!
Hope everyone is on the mend and feeling better :goodvibes
We have stayed at both. Hard Rock was our favorite! Loved the vibe there and the location can't be beat. I have lots of pictures of both resorts in past trip reports. The resorts sections are at the beginning of the reports and I have the chapters indexed in the second post.

Portofino (July 2011) was the Welcome Foolish Muggles report

Hard Rock (July 2013) was the Hijinks and Shenanigans report

Spoiler alert- we may be heading back to Hard Rock in Feb.

:goodvibes
Lucky ducks :thumbsup2
And...

Ben's 8th Grade Disney trip is in June (All Star Movies)

:cool1:

I need to get going on some tickers.
:scared1:How did Ben get to his 8th grade trip so quickly :confused:That certainly snuck up on everyone :confused3
Thanks .... so excited! It's raining here now but forcasted to clear up around Noon. Just say prayers it is nice on Friday (our Castaway Cay day)!!!
Fingers, toes and everything else crossed that the sun comes out to play on Friday. Have a great trip:goodvibes
Come on up!

Our 7th grade goes to Canobie every year.

I went before my town's School Council Monday night as a parent/chaperone on a past trip while the principal and teachers presented about the trip. Our middle school has been doing the Disney Y.E.S program for 13 years.

:thumbsup2
I need to move country-trips to local bakery/zoo/farm are just not cutting it :lmao:
It does seem like just yesterday and I'm not sure the scars have all healed yet. :rotfl:
Armour up my friend -I got your back :scared1:
I may be MIA for awhile, or not, :rotfl: having my knee replacement surgery next week. So after I get over initial post surgical pain, I may be here a lot, :rotfl: as I'll be home recovering and prob bored to tears!!!
Good luck with the surgery and best wishes for a speedy recovery :goodvibes

We are here now (sitting at SAB as I type)... I was really hoping for a full balcony..and we scored! Got upgraded to CL and the room is huge. I have to say tho my one complaint (minor) is the coffee... Lol it's terrible and you have to wait till 7am to get it! Lol early riser here. MK was a lot more crowded than 2 years ago when we came... I knew Epcot would be and boy is it! Food has been great- raglan road was our fave so far! Beaches and cream- ice cream to die for...
Couldn't do the kitchen sink... It's day 4 of 6 and it's going way too fast!

We stayed at POR in 2012 and the food choices (and coffee)... Oh and bus service were all much better! Do love it here; think the pool is a tad over-rated... Would stay here again!

Thanks for checking in with your comments.

OK- the comments about coffee caught my eye as I am a very early riser as well...

:surfweb:

Is the coffee in the lounge not available until 7? And terrible? Once the work on the lounge is open, I hope they have it available earlier than that and have a decent system. It may be too late for you, though :(

I think you can get a cup of coffee in the Marketplace starting at 6:30 and possibly from the Ale & Compass lounge in the YC lobby even earlier (6 am I have read)

I know that can be a bit of a haul, but I love walking the resort early in the morning. So peaceful and beautiful!

Enjoy the rest of your stay.

Restaurant and Food Allergy Info

Ok now since we have our trip planned I need to start looking at places to eat. We will do 1 character meal and then probably do 1 or 2 table and quick the rest. It will be me,wife, mother and 16yr old son with special needs so will need wheelchair access. We have been to Disney once 4 yrs ago thru Kidd's Kid's organization and we went unprepared.Need advice on the best places to eat or any other info please. Thanks

Great suggestions from others about checking out menus and posts in the restaurant section of the DIS- one of my favorite things to do when planning a Disney trip.

But the folks here do have lots of experience and helpful info.

A couple of questions for you. For a character meal, are you planning on breakfast, lunch or dinner, and do you know what type of experience you want (Classic Disney Characters- Chef Mickey's, Garden Grill, Cape May breakfast), Princesses- probably not, Winnie The Pooh (Crystal Palace). I hear the characters at Park Faire at Grand Floridian, especially Cinderella's Step Sisters, are a riot but we haven't been to that one.

How about food or other interests- what does your family like to eat? Do you have any special interests? I have two teen boys and they love the Sci Fi Café at Hollywood Studios- it is set up like a drive-in theatre and there is a big screen showing short clips from 50's B movies during the meal. Food is ok, especially if you stick with burgers.

I haven't seen either of these items, but as suggested below, contact the concierge (IPO- Iterinerary Planning Office) as soon as possible to see what your options are. Do you have the email address? I have it posted in the club level post on Page 1 of this thread.

:)

This website might be interesting for you.

There is an email contact - don't know if they can help you.

I do know that WDW is very sensitive to those dining with allergy concerns.

Thank you so much for posting these! I am trying to collect information about resources for Dining at Disney, and particularly the Yacht & Beach Club with food allergies or other food restrictions, and I have added the AllergyFreeMouse blog to the resources I have at the end of the Dining Post (Post 7?) on Page 1.

:thumbsup2

Club level has coffee starting at 6 by the elevator. But it's just coffee, no tea which is what I drink. I had to wait till 7 which didn't make sense. As far as allergies go, hubby has a seafood allergy & we were disappointed in how they handled it. After day 3 we gave up & he didn't have any hot apps.

I also came across http://www.glutenfreedairyfreewdw.com/ , which has good resources for those dealing with dairy and gluten sensitivities, while at WDW.

There is some very useful info posted, such as http://www.glutenfreedairyfreewdw.com/dining-resources/menus/ , which displays restricted-diet menus available at some resorts and parks.

Good news is, soy milk is available very easily through-out Disney property. I would guess based on our AKL CL experience that BC would have the same policy. The allergy items are kept in the CM area - just ask and you'll get them. But, as suggested, I highly recommend contacting concierge as soon as possible to let them know. I'm hoping they'll help me with our dietary restrictions this time. I have specific menu requests at certain places but so far special diets has been less than helpful. Though special diets is really good at letting you know about counter service foods around the WDW property. Contact them as well, and put your allergies in all ADRs.

And, in case special diets doesn't tell you, they didn't tell me :( AK has a special diets kiosk just passed Flame Tree BBQ House - they have Gluten-free beer, baby-cakes and other gluten-free and dairy free offers. They can also let you know about allergy friendly offers around the park - the more people who use it there, the more likely the other parks get their own kiosk.

Great resource on so many levels.

Thanks, again! I'll add these to the dining section for guests with special food concerns.

I think I have mentioned it before, but a friend of mine has a Facebook page: Gluten Free at Disney where she posts pictures of the various options available throughout the World (and other area theme parks as well)

Just read on FaceBook that BCV evacuated due to a fire. Lots of smoke on first floor.

Thanks for all of your hard work Natebenma!! Started back to school (teacher) Aug. 11th and haven't had much time...glad to have some reading to catch up on and something to look forward to!

Just wanted to comment that we were at BC for the first time this past August. It is now our favorite resort! We really loved being so close to Epcot. Watching Illuminations was a joy just knowing I was steps away from being "home". I fell in love with the decor. After having BC withdrawal tonight, I looked thru the first FAQ page and realized we only skimmed all there was to do at SAB - guess we'll just have to go back.

We will be there in a week for the first time! I'm so excited! Totally ignoring the weather reports because it always rains just a little!

It said rain with high percentage every day for us! We go home today and it rained 1/2 day Friday and 1/2 Saturday. Didn't ruin anything! Have fun!

Dee,
When you get a chance could you please add me to the BOG list . I will be there from June 20 thru the 5th of July 2015 :cool1::beach: Thank You.
