I am sorry Remy is no longer there for your son to enjoy. We got to see him a few times and it really was fun for the kids. The food at Chefs is good and we had been there before Remy appeared but must admit that was mostly the reason we had returned lately. We've also had lunch there, I enjoyed it as well if you find that menu more appealing.

Other nearby "fun" ideas for your son might include reserving a table at Rose & Crown late enough to request a table outside and then stay there to watch Illuminations. It is a great close up view that our kids enjoy.

Also Teppan Edo is another they've enjoyed. They like watching the chef prepare the meal and some of the kids meals were served in a monorail-style plate. They're older now so not sure they serve them that way anymore.

Rose & Crown is just inside International Gateway, closer than France even, and Teppan Edo is a bit further than Chefs but not a long walk.

I also second the PP who suggested no earlier than 6 pm if you want to enjoy the CL offerings. Sometimes it might not open right at 5 pm, there will be others in line, time to enjoy the food/drinks, make your way down from the 5th floor, walk over to International Gateway, go through bag check and scan bands for entrance, walk to restaurant. Not trying to make it sound like that takes a lot of time, but don't want you to feel rushed and watching the clock when you eat/drink.

Hope you enjoy your stay at BC!

Thanks for the advice. I think that the Rose & Crown is a great idea!::yes::

Add us to the list please! June 7-13 BC garden view.

It will be our 2nd WDW visit. First visit was back in 2008 in the WL which we loved. Booked BC with recommendations from this group!

It will be me, DH, DD17, and DS11. I hoping they'll all love it there and love the pool.

Still trying to figure out rental car. We are flying into MCO and planning to take ME to the BC, but renting a car our last day because we are driving to Jacksonville to spend a couple days with friends there (and flying home from JAX). Would it be better to just rent a car the entire time or wait until our last day (I think there is a car rental agency on-site)? With EP and DHS being withing walking distance, the only places we'd be taking the bus is to MK, AK, and DTD (for dinner one evening). Would it be more efficient to just have a car? I hear nightmare stories about taking the bus to DTD and back.

Thanks!

Hey guys :) I'm having a YC/BC pout right now. :( I really wanted to find something for our spring break but the AP discount isn't showing anything available. So it looks like we'll either be at WL CL or BWI CL. That's the only club levels left. And we've got to have it for the boys, they need constant access to drinks and snacks (teenagers). I'm sort of leaning towards WL CL because we just did BWI CL last year. I'm not a huge fan of the WL, I was just telling Teena when we spoke a couple of weeks ago that the husband and kids were begging to stay there, but I wasn't interested. So I guess they will be happy. To me when I'm going to Florida for spring break I want palm trees and a beach theme. I can't blame anyone, I do this to myself, I always book too late. :rolleyes1 Maybe I should go right now and put a deposit down on BC for this summer. I need to learn to be an early bird! ;)

I have a question for recent guests of the Yacht & Beach Club. I never received a survey after our July trip. We were room only- not a package.

If you have stayed in the past 6 months can you make a quick post saying if you received a survey, if you were a room only booking or package and how the survey came (email or by mail)

The surveys are really important, and the managers at Disney do review the information closely. Please make sure you give your feedback about your vacation. What, or who, helped make your trip special? How could your stay have been improved?

Thanks!

UGH!!!:sad2: Why'd they do that?:confused3 I read so many fun reviews about him. Board of Health in Fla is really strict!;) Oh well, better to find out now. So,thanks Feckless the heads up. I'm wondering if we should still go there or not? Has anyone been to Monsieur Paul? Both restaurants proximity to the BC make me want to check them out. And we could use the "secret door" that I learned about here on this AWESOME thread:thumbsup2. I hope that it is at least still there! TIA

I've only been to the Rat place downstairs from Mr. Paul's, whom I have heard is VERY expensive.

You might want to try the All Ears site and check out the menus and prices to see what might be a good fit. Here is the link:
http://allears.net/din/dining.htm

I also want to throw out the idea that Spice road has opened opposite Morocco. It's a Mediterranean tapas type place that does not take Advanced Dining reservations (ADR's) and does not take the Tables in Wonderland discount. Here is a link from that site with all the ears that has the menu for Spice Road. http://allears.net/menu/menu-spice-road-table.htm

Ninja Mom is going on a family trip (Goddess help her!! :scared: ) in March and she can't wait to drop in and try this place out. It's also on the water so it might be a spot for illuminations if you get there early enough and you don't travel, ~ like Ninja Mom does~, with people that think the Golden Corral restaurant is the end all, be all, of epicurean dining. If it comes down to it I'm going to break from the pack and make a run for it and eat at Spice Road by myself!

Here is a review on Spice Road from the absolutely neutral, we would never say ANYTHING bad about Disney dining :rolleyes2 Disney food blog: http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2014/01/10/photos-and-review-part-1-the-new-spice-road-table-in-walt-disney-worlds-epcot/ and a link to part two because there is just so much more to gush about!! :crazy2: http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2014/01/12/photos-and-review-part-2-spice-road-table-in-walt-disney-worlds-epcot/

There is lots of food porn in those two reviews so Dee should probably get a room before she clicks on those links.

About the buses. We solely relied on Disney Transportation on our first trip in 2011 and as long as you allow 60-75 minutes for travel time to any of your destinations you'll be fine. We had many early ADR's from the BC in 2011 and we were on a bus by 7am-7-15am. Sometimes we were the only ones, which was neat, but yes buses do run early because of ADR's. We even were standing at the bus stop and had a CM come over asking how long we've waited (most of the time no more than 5-10 minutes) and them walkie talkie to someone about people waiting to be picked up at the BC.

We love Disney transportation. DH and I make a point to take every form during each of our trips.

Heh, Heh, heh.... Disney Buses. Let ol' Ninja Mom tell you that when it comes to bus service you get what you paid for. They make a concerted effort to do a MUCH better job with the buses at the Deluxe resorts than they do with say, the Values! I'm surprised they don't start transporting people from the values on the back of some flat bed tow truck packed 60 to a row. The new bus stops at the Magic Kingdom are configured to allow access to those accordion style double buses. Ninja Mom is practicing her Moo-ing for when she gets to ride in them. Did you know that Moo translated into Portuguese is "Mugido". I'm going to be a multilingual moo-er when I ride that double bus!

I think you need to price out what it would be to have for the whole trip or just a portion of it. I think you may get a better rental rate at the airport rather than picking up on site. Also you have the car just in case there is a bus issue.

OMG!!! No FISH LAMPS and now you are telling me no more Remy!! I suppose they are going to take away paper fast passes next....

Humph!

We ate almost every night in the WS restaurants during our last two YC/BC stays. We loved Teppan Edo, and we really enjoyed our Chefs de France supper in August past, not so much the year before. This time we had the coquille st. jacques and it was delicious - short ribs the year before were BLAH. LOL. Best part about Chefs de France was that it was SO close to the BC. Also the Biergarten is a fun choice.

We think not having to have a rental car is one of our favourite parts of being in the Disney bubble. If we have an ADR at a resort, we plan our day at a nearby park so we can get transportation to the resort, then get a taxi back to the hotel. We have never had any issues with transportation.

I got a survey after our trip in 2012 (a package). I didn't get one after our 2013 trip (room only, UCT tickets).

Keep checking ... you never know. And that's a good idea about summer!

I've always heard that canceled rooms don't go back into AP inventory. But I will definitely keep checking! :) Teena you know how I feel about the WL!!! :lmao:

Oh we experienced that when we stayed at ASMo in December. I agree the buses were definitely different then. But we still love the transportation Disney offers because it's just fun to ride stuff around. DH and I had a car on that trip and we really loved it, but we still rode buses to MK because we wanted the easy access.

Quick question,

As I said before this will be our second trip to the YC CL. My Mom is joining us this trip. This poor woman has been to hell and back the past two years. First with the passing of my father in early 2012, then she was diagnosed with Lung cancer later that year and had most of her lung removed. Then early last year had a bout with meningitis. Then had lower back surgery, then had BOTH of her knees replaced. She is a tough lady and has always been active and walked A LOT. She is now just trying to get back into shape as best she can but she is worried that between her decreased lung capacity and her back still giving her some troubles with pain that she may need some assistance while at the parks.

I have created a low to moderate park itinerary for our entire trip but it will include a trip to 4 parks and 2 trips to Universal Studios. But if she can't handle it what are our options? She really didn't want to use a scooter but she may be forced to. I want her to have the best time that she can and be as comfortable as she can as well while we are there.

This trip will kinda be bitter sweet. I planned out a trip in 2012 right before my dad passed away and at the time I was hoping both of them would have been joining us. :( In the end my Mom insisted that we go without her after losing my Dad so unexpectedly.

Thanks for the help!

Yippee! I will be at the Yacht Club 4/5-4/9 for a NP conference with a friend. The conference is at the Dolphin, but I wanted to be able to use Magical Express and have the ability to pre-book Fastpass + as most days we won't get to the parks until around 4pm. Very excited!

First, so sorry for the loss of your father and to hear all your mother has gone through in such a short time.

I completely understand your mom not wanting to use a scooter and how the thought of using one makes her feel ... I had to deal with this last summer.

After a couple of days in the park, mom realized she really was having difficulties walking. It took this for her to agree to use a scooter. I'd talked to her about it ahead of time and I know she did not want to use one -- at all. But she has been to WDW many times and she just wasn't able to experience it the same with her foot/knee problems. She'd gotten a shot before we left but it wasn't enough with all the walking required.

We ended up calling Apple Scooter and had one delivered to the resort that day. She may not have liked it, but it helped so much. She was able to keep up with us and keep a smile on her face. It may have hurt her pride, but at least it kept her pain free for the most part.

Good luck with your trip.

Here is what Ninja Mom, who has had a bout with cancer herself and is missing a part or two, has learned to do when going on a Disney trip....

1) Have realistic expectations
First of all try to convince your Mom that She won't get it all done in one trip! Nobody ever does and believe me people have tried. Just tell her that you are going to have a great trip, that you will do what you can do and that DISNEY will STILL BE THERE for the next trip. Don't be fooled into making this a race from attraction to attraction. Do some of the things, enjoy them and realize you have an opportunity to plan another trip so you can keep crossing off experiences at WDW. Think Easy and Enjoyable touring plan instead of Crazy, tiring, racing around the park touring plan.

2) Plan Ahead!
That being said, planning will be your best friend! Before the trip go to the Disney web site and have everyone that's going acquaint themselves with the things that they want to do at each park. We have a family meeting and everyone picks the top things that they want to do. We make a list where we target what we want to do and we use this touring plan http://www.easywdw.com/cheat-sheets/disney-world-cheat-sheets-maps-touring-plans-and-wait-times/ to tell us WHAT TIME OF THE DAY that we need to hit the attractions on our list.

3) "Zig" when everyone else "Zags" to avoid the crowds and spend less time waiting in lines
Here is another link to that Easy WDW site that tells you what day to go to which park: http://www.easywdw.com/
On the right side of the page there is a month by month assessment called January, Feb, March etc... Crowd calendar. It will tell you for EACH day what each park is going to be like as far as crowd levels. I LOVE the fact that it even tells you WHY!! :thumbsup2 If you read this you will understand which park to go to on what day to avoid the crowds. Yeah, there will still be people at the parks but there will be less people if you follow that plan. For example people always want to go to MK at the beginning of their Disney trip and since they travel on the weekends Sun and Mon are the most crowded days at the MK. You'll get the idea when you read up on that site. You probably already know that but I'm putting that in there for all the lurkers that are reading this and may have the same concerns...

4) Go EARLY at park opening, LEAVE at Lunch time and go back to the hotel for a rest. Go out again for dinner and an evening of more attractions.
Most older people only have the energy to go to the parks for about 4 hours. If you follow that morning/lunch rest/ dinner and a few more attractions plan you will be satisfied and not over tired. There is stuff at the hotel like the bed for a nap or the pool or the HOT TUB that really helps to reinvigorate a person and give them the energy for a beautiful evening. Follow that schedule whether you have a toddler or a two hundred and something year old ;) and you will be in good shape with fewer burnouts and melt downs. If you are going in the hot summer months you will avoid the hottest, sunniest parts of the day! Play/rest/play while at Disney.

5) Start walking now
If you can with the crazy winter weather, see how she is making out walking around now. A scooter or other assistive device is perfectly reasonable so tell her no worries. There are so many people using them that she won't feel self conscious after the first 5 minutes. Most people walk between 6-8 miles a day while touring the parks and it can be exhausting! If she is not able to get up to that level she needs to understand that a scooter will help her conserve her energy so that she can ENJOY the parks and that it will be no trouble for her to jump on and off as needed. The BC/YC is the perfect resort for scooters because you are a quick boat ride or a walk away from 2 parks and the buses are equipped to handle the scooters for Animal Kingdom or MK. Using a scooter is not a sign of defeat, it's a wise use to conserve her energy and allow her to enjoy the parks with out wearing herself out! She will probably get further along in her recovery and in the future not need the scooter, but for now, the two of you need to be honest about where she is in her physical recovery and err on the side of conservation of her energy if necessary, especially since touring Disney parks can be such a physical grind.

To sum it up, most of us go Disney crazy and try to run around like chickens without heads when we see all there is to do. If you go in with a plan and reasonable expectations you won't be disappointed. All that stuff that you are not getting to do will still be there the next time, and hopefully Mom will be in better shape as here recovery progresses. I personally use my Disney trips as an incentive to work out and get in shape. It took me a while after my cancer to get my mojo back so to speak and I had to come to terms with the fact that the old gray mare just ain't what she used to be. So I got smart and I got more patient with my limitations and I learned that if I kept swimming, so to speak, that I can adapt and find different ways to accomplish my goals. It's all about coming to terms with your new "abilities" and not getting frustrated with your limitations. So GO to Disney and ENJOY it. Be smart with that touring plan and take the time to smell the roses and don't be afraid to slow down and take it all in on the slow track. I just love the way that Disney also has so many things for people who don't want to be on the theme park death march. This is your trip. You are going to have a great time! All you have to do is realize that it's going to be great just being there. The rest is gravy!!!

Good luck with your trip. Tell mom not to worry if she has any set backs as they are bound to happen. Just tell her that Dory says to "Just keep swimming" and she will get there. No worrying either... it doesn't do any good and all the stuff you worry about never happens anyway.

Right next door! I would call and tell them your scenario:

NATIONAL & ALAMO CAR RENTAL DESK

Disney hotel guests can enjoy the convenience of on-site car rental service through National & Alamo. Located in the guest services area of the Dolphin, guests can make arrangements for automobile pickup and drop-off right at our door.

Contact National Car Rental at 1-800-CAR-RENT or Alamo at 1-800-GO-ALAMO.

Yep Dee. Between our November trip and our January marathon trip we stayed at OKW, BC CL, Pop, VWL and BCV's. The only questionnaire/survey I received was from our one night at Pop.

OKW, VWL and BCV's were DVC point stays and Pop and BC were room only……. :confused3

:cool1:

I have never rented a car at Disney, and others have given you great advice, but I did want to mention that it is usually better to take the bus to MK rather than drive or even taking a taxi. A bus will bring you right to the main gate, but if you drive, you have to park at the TTC and either take the ferry or monorail to the MK.

The ride to DTD is usually not too bad, but the ride back is a nightmare. We either take a cab back to the Beach Club or we take a boat to one of the DTD resorts and then hop to either EPCOT or HS when we are done at DTD.

:thumbsup2

Hey guys :) I'm having a YC/BC pout right now. :( I really wanted to find something for our spring break but the AP discount isn't showing anything available. So I guess they will be happy. To me when I'm going to Florida for spring break I want palm trees and a beach theme. I can't blame anyone, I do this to myself, I always book too late. :rolleyes1 Maybe I should go right now and put a deposit down on BC for this summer. I need to learn to be an early bird! ;)

So sorry! :worried:

I hope something opens up for you. If not, have a great time at WL.

 to your mom and your family. That is an awful lot for you all to go through.

Again, others have given you good advice. One of the best things about the Yacht & Beach Club is that the location is very convenient. If your mom needs to go back to take a break, part of your group can easily get back to the resort while others continue on, if that is what you choose to do.

:)

Yippee! I will be at the Yacht Club 4/5-4/9 for a NP conference with a friend. The conference is at the Dolphin, but I wanted to be able to use Magical Express and have the ability to pre-book Fastpass + as most days we won't get to the parks until around 4pm. Very excited!

:welcome:

Great to see you over here on this board!!! Are you following me???

;)

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

I am DYING to try Spice Road. Fortunately, my daughter is curious, too, so it's on the list for our August (Beach Club!) trip. I don't know if she'll actually like the food (I think she more likes the *idea* of the food), but that's good enough for me!

Anyone know what the waits are like? Is it crazy because it's new?
