Requesting hotel Pixie dust?

What's the best/most polite way to request a bit of birthday pixie dust for your hotel? I know it's not a given and perhaps nothing will come of it, but I have to at least make the effort. :goodvibes

I've searched, and it appears that emailing is the best way...do I email the hotel (Disneyland Hotel) directly...and to whom?

We're celebrating 2 birthdays, my son and husband who are only a few days apart (but we'll be there for DS's actual day)...any suggestions on the best way to word it? I don't want to come off demanding...but I'm hopeful. pixiedust:
ETA: I also meant to ask, can you also request a room? Perhaps something with a bit of a view? Or is that asking too much? Lol

Thank you for any help! Much appreciated. :)

They have various things you can request for in the room such as balloons, gifts etc but you have to pay for them all.

Email the hotel.

My husband emailed NPB before our August trip and apparently he had asked for a nice room if possible and some pixie dust for "his girls" because Rosebug had been a bit poorly. We got nothing in the room; but an awesome room and a very magical bit of pixie dust!

After 9 visists with nothing extra I emailed the hotel direct with a genuine request and happened to mention our reason for celebrating in the email. We got chocolate coins on our pillows each night and some bottled water in the room. A nice touch:)

We have been very lucky. When we were on honeymoon at the Disneyland Hotel in 2004 we mentioned it when booking, we were given a lovely large room with a king size bed and VIP Fastpasses for the duration of our stay.
In 2006 we stayed at Newport Bay and fir no reason were given a free upgrade to the admirals floor lakeside room with breakfast in the captains quarters each day and a box of chocolates in the room.
In 2010 for my 10th visit I mentioned it at the time of booking and received a Mickey Mouse mug filled with chocolates in the room at Hotel New York and in 2011 at New York I mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and we received a free upgrade to a lakeside room over the ice rink and balloons and a sign in the room.
In December we are going back to the New York, it will be my 13th visit, our 10th wedding anniversary and our first trip with our little boy who will be 18months old. I'm hoping for a bit of fairy dust again fingers crossed.

We've had some pixie dust. DS had a lovely happy birthday slip with balloons, a plush & a stocking filled with sweets, two bottles of water and coins at turndown every day plus a voucher for a balloon. I had sent an email asking about adding an AP holding adult at check in & I had mentioned how excited we were to spend a few nights in the HNY and that my DS was turning 4 while there and just a bit about how excited he was. I had hoped for some pixie dust but was genuinely overwhelmed. I think if your letter seems genuine and don't sound grabby or greedy it goes a long way. I found writing my email made me excited to go and excited for my DS and the little surprises i had planned and even if we hadn't received a thing it was a positive experience just putting those thoughts down.

Never had anything, even when we went for my sons birthday and they knew that!! This time it's been mentioned it's a big birthday trip, but I know there will b nothing lol we've never had anything at all, in fact, have been when friends had been getting water n chocolate, and still we got nothing!! Lol
Very likely this will b our last trip, so wud b nice to go out on a high, but doubt it lol. Hope u get sum pixie dust!!

You can request a card and balloon arrangement for free, we had this at HNY in February so Im sure Disneyland Hotel would do it too. Forgot to mention it before. Everything else we had to pay for but they did offer this free.

It's all very random we have got some wonderful pixie dust through the years upgrade to admirals floor at NPB. Soft toy at DLH for youngests birthday. Balloons for my big birthday last year at Hny. Best ever was an upgrade to, empire state, balloons and a Disney mug filled with sweets for eldest girls 18th!!! Like Kizzabelle said a short email outlining reason for trip and how excited everyone is to be celebrating the event at Disney to guest relations is all we have ever done. Go expecting nothing then anything will be a great surprise!

Thank you all so much! :goodvibes

I'm not expecting anything, but a little pixie dust would be so lovely. I have a very grateful kiddo, so I know that if Disneyland were to acknowledge his birthday, it would stay with him forever. :lovestruc

I'll be sure to update should we be among the lucky. Thanks again! :thumbsup2

Also meant to ask....for those who have had success...did you ONLY email and leave it at that, or did you also mention it at check in? I have a bit of social anxiety, so that's not an option for me.

But the email should be enough?

Ive only mentioned it in an email, successful once out the 2 times of asking

I've phoned and they makes notes on your booking. We had Pixie Dust in the Sequoia Lodge and in the Cheyenne (the latter without asking and the former was because of a bad trip previously, even though they'd already made up for it).

I feel cheeky asking for pixie dust for myself for my birthday trip, think I'll just have to leave it to chance!

I sent an email last year when my parents went for their wedding anniversary and they got some pixie dust, made me so happy when they messaged me from there saying how lovely everything was (I was at home animal sitting!)

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Just e-mailed guest relations never followed up have always been lucky!

I also just email Guest Relations, or call the booking line and ask them to add a note to my booking. I also never follow it up, some times it works some times not.

I've mentioned it when booking by phone this time but I'll also send my email before we go as I'm adding two guests and I also want to enquire about a few bits. We'll be arriving on my birthday so fingers crossed!
I normally just emailed though so this will be only the 2nd time I've done both (call & email). The last time was for DD's birthday and we received a birthday note and some gold coins as well as bottled water.
An email alone should be fine.
You know about the birthday call and sticker in City Hall?

I didn't know about a birthday call? How does that work? :)

I'll email guest relations (it's hotel specific, right? I have to email the DLH?) and keep my fingers crossed. :cheer2:

How far in advance do you usually email them prior to your stay. We are going on the 16th of February. Would it be too early to email them now or would it be better to leave it until nearer the time?
