WDW christmas parade overkill

Did anyone else find all the plug ins and advertisements kind of overkill during the parade? There's nothing wrong with showing off what you have to offer but I've counted at least 3 times they have mentioned the planning DVD and MDE. And almost every commercial break the first one is for a disney destination. They obviously have our attention. Am I just being a grinch?

The Christmas parade show has always been one big promotion for the Disney Parks and other Disney offerings. Doesn't bother me any more than the network showing the Super Bowl plugging every series the network offers.

I noticed too! It was really bad, I had to laugh. But my girls loved it! "Mommy, when can we go there? I looks like so much fun!" Little do they know the trip is already planned!

Being a Grinch. It didn't bother me at all. I know more than the average person about Disney theme parks and this was all a great tie-in and a way for them to advertise their brand to the casual vacationer or people who don't know a whole lot about the Disney experience, etc. I felt like they got catered to while also reminding me why I enjoy Walt Disney World of Disneyland at the same time.

Like I said in another thread...I found about 8.2 misleading things in that 2 hour infomercial.

Trust me in the fact that I love seeing the parks! But bringing in Samantha Brown was my limit. Love her and her disney shows but it's suppose to be about Christmas!

But you gotta admit, if you knew nothing at all about Disney it does look really cool.

That's why they go to the expense of producing it each year. Before Disney owned ABC, there was a disclaimer at the end that it was paid for by Disney, not ABC.

Walt Disney skillfully used the Wonderful World to market Disneyland. ABC/WDW are just following in the grand tradition...

Totally cool. It's got me smiling from ear to ear, especially because I have no Christmas celebration to look forward to this year. Our 16th trip is just over a month away and the 7 yo that's going for the first time has called several times to say "aunt Sam did you see that?!?!"

The ads don't bother me at all,the parade is what it is,a way to advertise Disney. What did bother me somewhat is when Samantha Brown is showing the magic bands and how you can get FP+ for every ride, she would go from MK to Epcot to DHS showing how you can get a FP+ for all the headliners.I was waiting for a fine print to at least show in the bottom of the screen saying only 3 per day and options may be tiered preventing certain choices.Millions of poor unknowing potential visitors are possibly in for a surprise.

My wife and I both found very obtrusive - especially when the plugged the Cruise Line and the Adventures - the ties to Norway were well done but it put me over the top. And the FP+ plug was crazy too. We got turned off and ended up stop watching..

We enjoyed the infomercial..eh, I mean parade!;) I managed to catch most of it and found the inclusion of Darth Vader fun. Another thread boo-hoo'd showing the Yeti moving (he's been frozen in time for years) and the mention of magic bands and the ability to pre-reserve a bit simplistic but the ads weren't meant to be a full and complete explanation of planning a DL/DW vacation.

The parade really set me thinking about our upcoming trip and put a smile on my face:hippie:

I liked all the Disney infomercial stuff. I'd have swapped the musical performances for more of them. :earsboy:

Didn't really bother me that much, but we made some jokes while it was playing. The singing performances were the part we struggled through during the program.

I guess I'm the odd man out, we always watch the Disney parade for those glimpses of Disney World. I'd take 2 hours of that over the performances any day.

It was a little annoying but hey- what can you expect? I guess with all the money they put into producing the parade we have to expect that they'll utilize it to advertise.

Me too! This was the first time I had watched it so I wasn't really expecting that, but it got me really excited about our trip next spring. The parade and performances were fine of course, but I'd much rather just see the parks.
