My understanding of the previous post was that this couple, Di and Walt, have canceled their WBTA cruise - not that the entire cruise has been canceled. Sorry that you will not be joining us - hopefully in the future.

I am planning to book this cruise while on our WC cruise next week but I am starting to have doubts! I expect fewer kids on a TA cruise but I'm hoping there are enough for my kids to play with! My DD will be 4 1/2 an DS almost 2 :).

DH will be deployed and I planned on taking the kids to Barcelona for a few weeks when I saw this cruise and thought it seemed like a much better way to get home than flying ;). I'm just hoping there will be enough little ones to make my kiddos want to go to the club/nursery!

Honestly, having fewer kids makes everything much more manageable and personal IMO, in that they will have way more CM attention and your kids are so young they won't be as affected as, let's say tweens/teens, in needing friends to hang out with. They will totally have fun!

With everyone posting about their ticket finds, I have to ask.
I have been looking, figuring out ways to meet up with my father on the east coast somewhere and fly to BCN together. My Dad and niece are coming from Dulles, us from SFO.
Then last week my sister threw in the wrench. She suggested she may fly to BCN and have a vacation with us before the cruise, as she can't get the time or money to cruise. If she does this, Dniece would probably travel with her, leaving my father to travel alone? Or spend the week in Barcelona with her???

It is now all up in the air!!
I can only hope flight prices aren't too much different in the spring.

We have not booked our flights yet either ... The flight to Barcelona is not expensive and I am comfortable leaving that till later, but the flight from San Juan back to Germany is the biggie - I keep checking the affordable flight and getting nervous that it may end up being sold out. We will probably be able to book it in January, and then I can finally relax :)

DI and Walt cancelled the cruise. :(

Thanks ::yes::

Walt :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear you and Di aren't joining us - you will be missed, there's always next time. Keep Healthy xx

My niece will be nearly 2 so looks like there will be at least 3 of them in the club! On the 2010 TA our cabin was next to two couples who both had young children that were doing the same as you are planning and they never said there wasn't enough for the kids to do, so fingers crossed the little ones will be spoilt rotten and royally entertained. :cheer2:

There will be plenty :) Just not everyone posts on here or other message boards - you will meet several who will share they have never posted. My kiddos will be 8 and 4, and on our past two DCL transatlantics there have been more than enough kiddos to play with onboard. :) And yes- a much better way to get home! On WBTA 2011 we had a couple moving back home and they knew it was going to take that long for their belongings to make it back anyway, so it worked very well for them to tie a vacation in with their move.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Welcome, new folks!

Making progress down my "to do" list. Atlanta, for all it's a hub and a huge airport, seems to be one of those places where "you can't get there from here" to Barcelona. After trying probably a dozen different scenarios, we ended up with a ticket - Atlanta ->Charlotte->Dulles-> Iceland -> 2 days in Iceland then ->Barcelona. Under $700 each. I am satisfied. We don't fly enough to earn miles.

Acquired a hotel in Reykyvik, and a plan for two tours on the days we are there - Blue Lagoon and whale watching.

We'll be in Barca a week before the cruise, so I found a tiny apartment on VBRO, only a couple blocks of Placa Catalunya.

Is the group doing the Hard Rock Cafe meet this time?

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Hi Linda! Catching up on posts - we were onboard Princess last week. You will love Blue Lagoon!! Plan on at least a few hours. Your hair will feel funny afterwards but your skin marvelous! We incorporated Iceland into our return home from EBTA / Med cruise this summer and loved, loved, loved it!

I do believe the Hard Rock is still a "Go" again this time. :thumbsup2

Hey Everyone -

Well it has been a LONG time since I have posted, and I haven't even been keeping up with this thread. We went on the EBPC cruise in September on the Wonder and had a GREAT time. I would say it is my 2nd favorite cruise now, after the WBTA in 2011. But it wasn't looking like we were going to be able to go on this cruise, so I didn't want to compound the heartbreak by reading/posting here. But things are looking good...so good in fact, that I went ahead and bought our tickets from Raleigh to Barcelona today. In the words of the Haunted Mansion ride "There's no turning back now!!"

The tix were a little higher than I wanted to pay - $750 each. The last WBTA I saved a little money by buying a ticket from NYC to BCN, then buying a different ticket from RDU to NYC. I ended up saving maybe $100 and I spent HOURS with my kids and mom and all of our luggage at JFK, unable to go anywhere. Then we were routed through Madrid and had a delay of several hours there ALSO. This flight is on Lufthansa with 2 stops - Washington DC and Munich. Total flight time is 14 hours. That should be about 10 hours LESS travel time than in 2011. The layovers are only a couple hours each, so that shouldn't be too bad (knock on wood). And because the flight leaves later my kids will only miss 2 days of school instead of 3. We'll get into BCN Thursday night around 6pm. Just enough time to get our bags, get to the hotel and crash.

I still have to book from San Juan home, but I am waiting for Jet Blue and Southwest to come out with their schedules as I think it will be cheaper.

I noticed DCL doesn't have excursions up yet. I am so excited to start planning those!!

Sorry if I am "sharing" too much, but I haven't told my husband that I'm going on this cruise yet :scared: so I can't talk to him about it, and of course I am keeping it a secret from the kids still, so I need someone to vent to!! I've been talking to my mom about it, but she just doesn't get excited enough about it for my tastes! I'm having a hard time not jumping up and down with excitement!

We recently went on two long haul flights on Lufthansa and were very pleased. One international flight had a layover in Munich, and the other in Frankfurt. The flights were punctual, and we were pleased with the in-flight meals and service. Plus, during the flights, they offered snacks in the galley, including Toblerone chocolates. Yum.

Just checking in :) We couldn't wait all the way until next September so we booked a 4-day cruise on the Magic next month. We have not been to Castaway Cay during the holiday time, so figured that was a good enough reason (plus get to see all the magnificent new features of the Magic everyone has been posting about! We don't plan to tell our two little ones until somewhere... maybe on the flight but hopefully just until they see the Magic at Port of Miami. Not sure if I can conceal my excitement :goodvibes

For two cruises?

Scottishwee35

No just for this one. There are 9 of us travelling at the last count if all goes to plan. 2 need to fly straight home from San Juan while the remaining 7 are hoping to spend a few days in Orlando on the way back. Booking so many flights is a nightmare. Plus some can't confirm until the very last minute, eg. our stepson is hoping to be working in USA again next year so he may be flying from USA to Barcelona and then taking the cruise back. I anticipate major headaches when it comes to booking it all.
