Your best Disney fact or insider story...

I second that! Just read it myself about the snow outside the window in BOG and got snow blinded by it! If there was an award for the best fact on thread I would give it to the this one!

Agreed!

DD & I sat there forever marveling at it last May... (we were seated right next to it) ... kept saying over & over how eerily similar it was to the movie & how it added to the overall feel of the Castle interior because it felt like we were IN the animation.

I was told there are 5 employees at WDW who have worked there since 1971 opening day. 1 is either the Fairy Godmother in the afternoon parade or the Evil Stepmother (I forget). She was Cinderella in 1971. Another works at lost and found in a resort

We are hoping to do BOG in September for lunch when we come so going to look at this with new eyes! We saw it before it opened in the preview last November. I bet re you and DD! I would not have wanted to move :-) nice they are added BOG lunch to Fastpass+ now.

Another BOG fact - the cherubs painted on the ceiling depict the imagineers when they were babies. A CM there told me they used photos of themselves when they were young to model the cherubs on.

Great facts in your post - but THIS one is AMAZING!!

Thanks guys!!! My mom and I sat there marveling at it in January too. We sat right in front of the windows the first time we ate there (then we relocated to the West Wing, which quickly became my favorite room princess: ).

I feel like there are more fun facts and we've yet to discover and I was so happy to share what I've learned.

Oh and Also, the suits of armor in the hall on the way to the counter service ordering area at BOG actually have hidden Mickey's on their weapons at the top. and there's a hidden Mickey in the fabric hanging from the ceiling in the West Wing.

My favorite currently is when you sit in the West Wing and it thunders, look to the Enchanted Rose and watch a petal fall. And then when the CMs start freaking out and saying "LOOK AT THE PAINTING!!!" Do it. It's a VERY cool effect. :wizard:

Great! When you have lunch in BOG do you get to see the snow or is that the room for the dining in the evening only do you know please? I love the petals falling! I hope we sit there long enough for that to occur :-)

I've always sat in the Ballroom but I think I might have to try the West Wing next time and see that!!

What an awesome list! We are leaving in 5 days and I am going to put it all together and give a copy to each!
Thanks

What other tours go backstage and allow under 16s on them? I honestly don't know.

As for the age, I don't expect it boils down to the legal definition of adult, but rather an age that analysts have determined is "safe" versus "unsafe" to allow--whatever that means.

We did the Animal Kingdom Trek 2 years ago when my younger DS was 8. We were pretty close to some unpredictable animals! :ewok:
I would have thought that AK was less "safe" than MK ..... but on the other hand, MK is definitely more magical. pixiedust:

I think I'm a little late in posting my fact, but I got my Dad to confirm this, and I found out that no changes can be made to the Morocco pavilion without the King of Morocco's permission. I heard that rumour a while ago and got in confirmed about two days ago, and decided to post! Sorry if it was already posted!

Makes you wonder if the King of Morocco has more important things on his plate than to worry about a pavilion in a theme park in Florida!

That is a cool contribution. Thank. The king of morocco sent his artisans to do the work, so why not.

Great thread! I have learned so much and cannot wait to here more. Let's keep it going!!

(sorry I have nothing interesting to add :rolleyes1)

Don't know if this was mentioned but on Tom Swayer Island CMs hide brushes with whitewash on them each day and if you find one you can bring it to a CM and get a free fastpass for splash or thunder and use it at any time :cool1

;)

Well, I got a bunch off the internet over a year ago to make my mother and I each a "countdown chain"...only it's an adult version so instead of just plain paper rings like kids would use, our rings have trivia. I have 7 pages of it and so I'm not going to post it all here but I'll share a few and if you want me to email you the MS Word document, PM me!

Towering four stories over DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Dino-Sue is an exact replica of the largest Tyrannosaurus Rex ever discovered.

Three of the original Adventure Land attractions that opened in 1971 are still operating—the Swiss Family Treehouse, Jungle Cruise, and the Enchanted Tiki Room—Under New Management.

Walt Disney World had to obtain approval from the U.S. Congress to place the Great Seal of the United States on the carpet in the Hall of Presidents.
