OMG Fellow book lovers....

Just last night, I was on a wikipedia knowledge spree....and I decided to look up Ray Bradbury just to see if he was still alive. And I was like "OH NEAT! HE IS! THAT'S GREAT!"...

I just logged on to facebook and my friend posted 5 minutes ago that he died today.

I think I might have some magic author killing gypsy powers.

Seriously, how weird is THAT.

Just finished Same Kind of Different As Me. I liked it, evangelicalism (is that a word?) aside.

I loved that book  I'm agnostic and even though it was a pretty religious book, I just adored the story.

I'm sort of reading Ender's Game but I haven't picked it up in weeks.

R is for RAY

Some really good books that I recommend are:

Handle with Care - By Jodi Picoult
The Fault in Our Stars - By John Green
Perks of Being a Wallflower- By Stephen Chbosky
The Lucky One - Nicholas Sparks

I am really excited that my book made into the top twenty of the New Ebook rentals in Central Jersey EBOOK system.
It is called Cemetery Girl, by Joseph Cognard. If anyone is interested it is in a couple of other library EBOOK systems as well.

Wow, that is strange!

I also have to say I saw the link in your signature to your Rapunzel and Flynn Rider costumes. I love that movie, so I had to go take a look. Your costumes looked AMAZING!!!!

Just finished Lisa See's Shanghai Girls. Loved it! If you like historical fiction, you'll probably like this one.

I  that book! Now you have to read Dreams of Joy. It continues the story of Pearl and May. Dummy me, didn't know there were two books and read Dreams of Joy first. I enjoyed it so much I had to read the book that supposedly came first. :rotfl:

Right now I've just begun 11/22/63 by Stephen King. Definitely not starting out anything like I would have expected.

I definitely want to read Dreams of Joy! I just started a different type of book, Pillow Talk. It was a free nook download. After Shanghai Girls being so wonderful, I'm having a difficult time getting into Pillow Talk. I may just break down and download Dreams of Joy now. :goodvibes

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I am already thinking about starting my costume for this year, although I don't know what it will be yet :) And no MNSSHP this year for me! I might do Effie from The Hunger Games which relates to this thread since she is a book character :)

I've finished both "11/22/63" by Stephen King and "Silver Girl" by Elin Hilderbrand since my last update. Enjoyed both of them for very different reasons.

Now I'm reading "Nobody's Fool" by Richard Russo. It's an e-book lend from the county library that I just happened to see when looking for something else. It's an easy read and I'm enjoying it.

I looked everywhere for this thread yesterday and couldn't find it. I re-subscribed because this is how I've found some of my favorite books - from all of the recommendations here! I'm a very eclectic reader so I like to try all kinds of books.

I just finished Gone Girl: A Novel by Gillian Flynn which was a really good mystery story and hard to put down. I have some of her other ones downloaded to Kindle also to try.

I also finished Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman which was spellbinding. I'd never heard of him but came across a commencement speech that he did recently and found him very interesting. I have his American Gods downloaded to read also.

Someone was asking for mysteries and I recently found a newer author, Theresa (or T.R.) Ragan who wrote Dead Weight and Finding Kate Huntley which were both easy reads.

On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves was good but I had a difficult time with the age difference of the characters.

I keep looking at Night Circus, I'm going to try it based on recommendations here as well as Tanglewood Plantation. I'm saving Elin Hildebrand's new book, Summerland, for the beach the end of this month.

Looking for more fluffy escape beach reads if anyone has any!

Just finished Elin Hildebrands "Summerland" I Just :love: her!
I will be reading
The Giver and The Diary of a Young Girl, both of these Iwill be reading with my daughter, she isnt a fan of reading and I want to get a jump start on her 8th grade reading!

Donna,

I REALLY enjoyed "Night Circus". It was unlike any other book I have ever read. Quite different indeed! If you're an eclectic reader, I have no doubt you'll enjoy it.

For beachy escape type stuff, you know you can't go wrong with any of Elin Hilderbrand's books, but I also enjoyed Nancy Thayer's "Moon Shell Beach" and "Beachcombers."

Cell (Stephen King)

So far I would give it a 4 out of 5, but I have read mixed reviews about the ending, so we'll see.

Finished The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella a while ago. Yes, two completely different books. LOL.

I'm now reading Chasing Perfect by Susan Mallery on my nook.
