We have 26 more days until we leave for Disney! We will be there the week of Aug. 21. We are planning on HS for Aug 25, which is the birthday of our DS! He will be 11 yrs old. On his actual birthday we would love for him to participate in the Jedi training. I have read it is a first come, first served basis and there is a sign up. I'd really appreciate good, DIRECT directions to the actual sign up area once you get into HS. Since we won't be able to be there for RD, once in the park, we'd like to be very sure of where we're going and get there quickly to hopefully make it in time for him to be included on a list! Appreciate any and all help!

Until Robo comes along with one of his maps, here is one in the meantime:

I believe the sign-up takes place between #5 (Star Tours) and #3 (Sounds Dangerous). Maybe someone who has done this recently can come along and confirm this?

The Jedi Training takes place just to the left of #5.

Don't forget to send someone to Toy Story Mania to get FPs for everyone while you and DS go to sign up for Jedi training!!

The Jedi Training fills up quickly. We were there at RD last week. We were one of the last families signed up for the 9:15 show and there were A LOT of people behind us, waiting to sign up.

Before I went, I did not know the sign-ups were in a building. So, don't look for them outside. They are in the Sounds Dangerous building. Sign-ups are NOT where the training actually takes place. You have to walk over next to Star Tours for the actual Training.

We were there at RD last week...

Before I went,

1- I did not know the sign-ups were in a building. So, don't look for them outside.

2- They are in the Sounds Dangerous building.

3- Sign-ups are NOT where the training actually takes place. You have to walk over next to Star Tours for the actual Training.

1- That may or may not be the case every day.
2- This well might be the new "permanent" sign-up location, but, OTOH, it may not stay that way.
3- Maybe.
That's the problem with these things.
Nothing is done "always the same way" at Disney.

Anyone remember how late the Jedi training is done? If we can't sign up for the 1st show, I'm hoping we can sign up to do it much later in the day around 4pm or later (after coming back to HS from a water park). Thanks.

The sign-up is not done on a "schedule" (with a formal end time.)
They sign up kids on a first-come, first-listed basis.
They just keep signing up kids for all of the shows as long as there are kids are in line.

But, after all of the positions are filled for all of the shows of the day, that's it.
(Just like FP's running out.)

I would not count on still being able to sign up at 4PM.
Very unlikely.

This is from Steve Soares' site

20-minute shows
Sunday & Tuesday-Thursday at 9:15, 10:00, 10:50 & 11:45am, 12:40, 1:30, 2:20, 4:00, 4:45, 5:45, 6:40, 7:35 & 8:30pm
Monday, Friday & Saturday at 9:15, 10:00, 10:50 & 11:45am, 12:40, 1:30, 4:00, 4:45, 5:45, 6:40, 7:35, 8:30 & 9:15pm
Space is limited, and participants must be present to register. Please see a Cast Member at Sounds Dangerous - Starring Drew Carey early in the day to make same-day reservations.

It's been noted that the kid must be present to sign up. So if you send a party member to get fastpasses make sure the kid goes with whoever's headed for the Jedi Training signup. There've been lots of questions like can the parent wait in line and sign their child up while the kid goes on rides? Which should be cautioned against, because the child has to be present for the signup.

Pretty sure you can't choose which show your child will be in. The child will be placed in the show that is filling at the time he or she signs up.

If you arrive at DHS late, the odds are that all slots for the day will have been filled. They will keep sigining children up from the time the park opens until they have filled all the shows.

Thanks... I meant... could we go at rope drop and sign up... but put DS's name down for a show to occur later in the day... instead of the next available one. (Edited -- I see from post 12 that the answer is likely no...)

If we got an early show between 9-10am, that would be great... but we plan on leaving around 9:30 or 10 to go to Blizzard Beach then come back to HS later around 4pm.... Our goal in the morning is to have breakfast at Hollywood & Vine, sign up for Jedi Training, ride Toy Story and get some FPs to use later when we return.

Thanks again!

Last week, when I signed up, I tried to get a later show and was told by the CM that unless I had meal ressies or some other appt, I had to take the first slot available.

So, I say, ask them! If you explain the situation, they might let you sign up for a later time.

I wonder if you could keep letting people behind you in line pass you by until they reached a show time that would work out for you. Anyone tried this?

I wonder if it depends on how busy the park is that day too. Last year we went a week or 2 after SWW. We didn't arrive at HS until around noon, but had no problem signing up for the 2:20 show. Actually, now that I think about it, it wasn't the best weather and rained on and off. Maybe that's why it wasn't as crowded.

Could be. I think it might also be because the new procedure wasn't as well known then as it is now.

Off the top of my head, I can't recall exactly when they instituted the new procedure, but from what I have read recently, the word has gotten out that you need to arrive early if you want to get your child signed up for the day.

One good thing is that Steve Soares' site this year has reported several more shows daily than there used to be (running well into the evening). I think this reflects the increased demand as news has spread.

They are doing night shows because of all the nights with Fantasmic. It's possible once they stop doing Fantasmic nightly, the night shows of JTA could stop as well

Wow....thanks so much to everyone for all your help....this board is the best....appreciate the maps and all the detailed info. Do any of you know if, generally, mostly the really young kids participate, or do 11 and 12 year olds also join in?

Ah, thanks for the information.

Just curious: why would showings of Fantasmic make evening shows of Jedi necessary/desirable?
