March 5, 2011 - Bushwacker Wild Wild Westerners

Thanks! Since we'll be out of our room from 6-9 a.m., will they still pick up our bags?

Russell is the same way which is why we chose DCL transportation this time. No worries....

Yes. They will still pick up your bags if you aren't there. (I usually leave our really close to the door, so they don't have to come in very far.) We are usually at breakfast. I would recommend leaving your stuff for your day bag further into the room.

I am staying at AKL the day we are done with the cruise and taking ME back the next day, should I have my tags for that soon or do they given them to me at the hotel?

If it is for a return trip to the airport, you will get them the day before you leave under your resort door. They give you the tags and the time to be ready to leave in the same envelope.

Boy, all this talking makes me in a packing mode. I was laughing with my mom the other day because she is thinking about visiting from MI for President's Weekend in Feb. She taught me to stage the trip stuff on a spare bed in the guest room. We laughed because I told her she couldn't sleep in the guest room because the bed would be taken up with our cruise stuff. She would have to sleep on the couch.

Thanks, Lisa! That sounds great!!!! :yay:

Oh cool! Since this is our first time DCL and WDW we were not sure what hotel to stay at. We decieded on CSR because of the rooms just being redone with the new beds.
Kassy..err I mean Kimberlayne LOL!! (I actually couldn't figure out why I couldn't post the other night, then saw that I was signed in with my son's name, and he wasn't ok'd yet:rolleyes1)
We have never stayed at CSR...but I have heard it's nice! We fell in love with POR the first time we stayed there! Love the boats to Down town Disney, and all of the trees and paths:lovestruc....Honestly I am not sure that you can go wrong staying at any of the resorts at WDW,:thumbsup2 but I think everyone finds their favorite sooner or later. So this is your first trip to WDW and first DCL cruise, or just first land and sea?

OK, so now I am feeling a little bummed that I booked CI&S for the night of the 4th! I kinda wish I would have found someplace within walking distance to the beach, or with my original choice the Raddisson.:sad2: CI&S looks ok, but maybe a little boring...I'd change the ressie, but I got such a good deal for that night!

Yeah, we are at the CI&S as well. It is just for the one night, so we are ok with it. I'm hoping for a room with a view of the port. It is our first trip to the area, so we might check out other places in the area for future visits!

We were originally going to go in on the 4th, so it really wouldn't have mattered much, but we got a better deal with the air and staying at AS sports comming in on the 3rd. We will be hopping around a bit, but maybe that will add to the adventure! We really wanted to ditch the car early on Friday, and just walk around the area, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen!:rolleyes:Oh well, maybe I should just stop complaining...We cruise in 35 days:cool1:

Hey folks! Been MIA since the power went out on Wednesday evening. So Thursday we checked into a hotel for heat and electricity. And internet of course!!! The power came on around dinner time last night but we were already at the hotel and swimming so we stayed until this morning and finally returned home this morning. Even though it was only two nights... it is so disruptive! We put the meat and other stuff from the fridge into coolers outside before we left, and most stayed frozen, but some defrosted so we're cooking that... and still need to clean out the other stuff that defrosted and refroze, and all the stuff in the fridge... what a headache!:headache::headache:

But... for now, I'm on my butt watching cake shows on TLC and just chilling out. Maybe that stuff will get done tomorrow. :rotfl:

Ciao for now!!!

It is our first cuise, as well as our first time to WDW. We live in California so have been to Disneyland a few times. Since we are flying all the way to Florida we figured mine as well do WDW. So my awsome hubby has been working some over time to have enough money for WDW. :lovestruc We are SO excited!:yay:

That's awesome! You're going to love it!:goodvibes How long are you in WDW? We have never been to DL, but are planning on doing that sometime...I have to go to where it all began!!!!:worship:

We stayed at CIS for our cruise last May and it was OK.. A little crazy in the mornings especially since when we were there only 1 elevator was working but we had gotten the priceline 49 deal so for that price I couldnt complain. I just found a coupon yesterday in roomsaver magazine for the Radisson so might be giving them a call. FYI....roomsaver.com pulls up the coupon also. Just wanting a place to sleep and park our car at this point! Im so ready for this vacation especially after this week. NO PHONE OR INTERNET FOR 6 DAYS(we will be making calls in Key West).

Thanks for the tip! I looked it up and called to check on it and they told me that it was a walk in deal, meaning that we would just have to show up there and hope that they had a standard room available and that we would get the $79 deal. If I were to prebook over the phone then the deal would be for $89 BUT, low and behold, the hotel is pretty much booked up. They told me that all they have left for 4 people were the suite style rooms which do not qualify for the good deals! I prebooked the Carlson Friends and Family deal like 3 months ago for CI&S and am getting that room for $77.70 total so its hard to just throw that deal away. It's too bad that I didn't book 2 rooms right away though then at least we wouldn't have to hotel hop when we get there!:sad2: Oh well, like I said before...I should just move on and quit complaining, We are taking a wonderful Disney cruise vacation after all!:goodvibes This will be our longest vacation yet at 11 nights!

I have a question for you guys...Have any of you made magnets for your doors out of the magnetic paper and then laminated them? I would like to do this to protect them a little, but I wonder if they will hang as well??? IDEAS??? I have lots of magnet strips and such, but thought it may be better to use the magnetic paper, so they were more flush to the door!
I know, I know I am probably way over thinking this....:rolleyes1
(I am currently hearing my family in my head chanting, Mom is a Disney Dork):upsidedow

Sorry, I can't help. I printed mine on photo paper, laminated them and have bought a roll of magnetic strips to cut and adhere to the backs.

I should probably just do the same. The magnetic papaer is pretty expensive! I already have magnet strips I could use!

What I did last cruise....
I used scrapbook paper to make our door sign, and then on the back of the sign, I stuck 2 long pieces of self adhesive magnetic striping. Top and bottom

Instead of laminating it , I simply just stuck it into a photo sleeve.
We didn't have any problems with it not sticking to our door :)
But to be on the safe side, to make sure it is going to stick ( and won't slide down), just hang it on your frig door for a day or two, that's what I did ;) and then if it is to heavy and slides down, you can just add more stripping...:)

Looks like our Cruise thread is defiantly getting into Cruise Mode:cool1::cool1:

That's awful, Johnna! After the ice storm we had 3-4 years ago, we had a hook up installed at our house so we can connect our portable generator. Russell's greatest fear was to be without heat...mine was how to keep the food frozen and cold. I figured we could always go to a hotel or someone else's house but what a mess it would be with 2 freezers and 2 refrigerators.

We have some wintry mix heading our way tomorrow and then 8+ inches of snow on Tuesday. :scared1: At least, we're seeing the ground between snowfalls. I hope this storm doesn't head your way too!

I usually print my door magnets on magnetic paper. They look nice and stay nice. I really don't think you would need to laminate them.

However, this year, I think I will just print them on photo paper, laminate them and use magnet tape as I have all of that on hand. Last cruise, I had a hard time finding the magnet paper.

We stayed at CSR in October and it was fantastic. We were there for a conference and stayed for 10 days. Never felt like we ran out of things to do at the resort and the restaurants there were really good.

Thanks Donna! We're just not used to "roughing it" in the Story house! We all need to be warm, and wired!!! You won't find us camping out anywhere...ever.

Good luck with the upcoming storm - we are supposed to get something Tuesday night and again Wednesday night, so it's coming our way... this winter is just wreacking havoc on my working!

Ciao... Johnna

I actually do ours on either photo paper or regular paper and laminate them. But laminating is really optional I think.

Then use the adhesive magnet strips - this way is so much cheaper than the magnetic paper I think. And ours have always stayed up. :yay:

I'm thinking of going a little more elaborate this year, but not sure if I have time (or talent!) to be that creative... we'll see...:rolleyes1

Happy Sunday everyone!!!
