Vacation Tips for Women! :)

I'm so glad I'm not the only one to do that. I hate how I look in most of my pics, and have been experiementing to find a better looking angle.:cutie:

Since I read this thread I have been trying this out and it works:yay:. I love it.:thumbsup2

Wow ,I just spend 3 days reading the 47 pages:surfweb: and I found great tips and learned a lot ( never heard about the diva cup,or LUSH)and I think almost everything has been covered.
My two cents.... Been a Florida resident and use to do WDW commando style (you have to when you are there only for the weekend)I learned the hard way that you need socks that dry quickly,I only wear my sneakers when I go to WDW and at the end of the day my feet are all sweaty and wet and rubbing in the wrong places. So doing my trip planning the last time ( oh yeah I do trip planning even when I go for the weekend)I was shopping for some supplies at walmart and I end up in the Danskin section. They have this anti blisters socks especially design for runners and let me tell you, they were the solution to all my problems, now my feet don't get wet , the socks are made of a material that absorb the sweat and dry fast and also a support in the center for the long runs.
Thanks again ladies for all the tips :grouphug:and I just find out they have a LUSH department inside Macy's at the Westfield mall in Hialeah .:cheer2:

Love this thread...honest talk about things women need to know. I've noticed a lot of women on this thread say that they learned things and asked question they were hesitant to ask. Bravo! I must say I have been wondering about continuing to take my birth control to avoid my period when I go for 10 days in January. I did a "test run" this cycle and it didn't work out so great  I ended up having spotting for 2 weeks and my normal heavy period for the other 2 weeks. I ended up going off the pill to "finish" my period and will go back on the pill on Monday. I have to go to my doctor to talk to him about getting something to help my nervousness about flying so I will talk to him about what to do about not having my period during my vacation.

Thanks for all of the info everyone and keep it coming!

Susan

That's terrible. I've started a new pill pack early in order to stave off a period for Disney/other things and have NEVER had this problem!

Just read all the pages, thanks everyone for being so open about all of our lady issues. I have learned a lot, and have some new idea to try out.

I wonder if men ever think about these sort of things? Probably not their periods :lmao: but manly men issues :goodvibes

This is probably a really stupid question. :confused3

I know weather is unpredictable and I should be prepared for anything ...

However, does it normally get that unbearably hot the 1st week of December?

I'm loving all these tips with how to deal with hot weather re: hair, makeup, deod, etc. Just wondering how much of them I'm actually going to use. :confused3

I've got myself all worked thinking I'm going to have to drench myself in deod all day and keep wet ones and cold face cloths with me at all times. :scared1:
If you can't tell, I hate, no I despise really hot weather but really want to get to see Disney which is why I was hoping it wouldn't be so hot in December.
There'll probably be a foot of snow on the ground where I'm flying in from (Northern NH) at that time of year.

Fine tips to share as I am newbie find it very interesting. These are worth following.

I'm loving all of these tips :)

Definitely need to invest in some Monistat... If I can find it here that is! The Evian spray is really good, I've found a few cheaper versions that work just as well.

I like to stock up on my Lush stuff too and also their sister company B -Never too Busy to Be Beautiful
Their makeups pretty good

I'm reading through all these pages, I wish I had found this board years ago!
I'll def be prepared this time around. :thumbsup2

December is an awesome time to go!! You really have to wait to pack and watch the 10 day forecast. Last year it was a mix of all temps- we started the week in shorts and ended up in jeans, and could have used winter coats. But it was a different cold then what we were used to here.

But as a curly hair girl- my hair has a mind of its own no matter what time of the year I am there.

What?!?!?!?!? LUSH has a sister company?? L McCafferty, where have you been all my life? Glad I checked in to see what was new :thumbsup2 Monistat - can you please remind me, is it a clear gel? What color tube do I look for? Thanks.

I am a huge fan of that Monistat powder/gel. Our Target carries it - it's over by the yeast infection stuff but it really has nothing to do with that. ;) I have extremely senstive skin (allergic to lanolin, of all things!) and this stuff does not give me a rash like most other lotions.

My MIL and my teen DD were blessed (cursed?) with DD+ bust sizes, and they both have gotten hooked on this stuff for the underneath-the-bra area that may rub, and the cleavage area that tends towards heat rash.

So we're multi-generational fans!

My 'under the girls' tip is this. I took an old bath towel, cut it up in index card size pieces and put one piece under each 'girl'. it stays put, absorbs moisture, is completely washable, no one knows it's there, no need for irritating powders that cake up, and basically free. Bring one set for each day and you are good to go!
My other tip is this: for panties, I wear cotton grannypanties and I bring my oldest ones on vaca and pitch them every night.. no need to bring home dirty panties is my motto. You can also do this for your husbands.. throw away old ones after a day in the park. How easy!

Great tips everyone!

I don't know if this was mentioned, but that Monistat Anti Chafing Gel can also be used as a make up primer. It really helps your makeup stay put! Apparently it has the same ingredients as an expensive primer at Sephora. I've been using it for a while now and it's awesome...can't live without it...and can't get it in Canada, so often I'll buy 2 or 3 when I go the States (wonder what the cashier is thinking) :confused3

The first reason I love this thread is the fact I AM NOT ALONE!!!

Inner thigh chafing is a huge issue for me and I am not overweight...just blessed with chubby thighs! Thanks mom!!

Some secrets I have are already here:
Bio Silk for satiny skin without the greasy feel in humid weather---can be bought cheaper at Sam's Club.

Deodorant under the breasts, down the center of the back and in the inner thigh area is good also.

I also wear men's brief-boxers for under the skirts but I prefer a spandex-type undergarment which stays in place when walking a lot.

I also wear boy shorts or a skirted swim bottom so I'm not worrying about the bikini line and all that entails!! I recently acquired Community Acquired MRSA from shaving my bikini line....which I never do. I usually use Nad's but now I'm scared to death to do anything!! I will have to overcome that battle SOON!!

For tired legs, I love the mint lotion idea. Will have to try that for work.

Keep the ideas coming.

As for skirts (and I know that question was posted in 2007) I wear the longer hippie style simply because they are breazy and not so confining as denim or capris. I like being comfortable, especially when traveling and dealing with eating tons of different food.

In my pockets or small over0the-shoulder bag I have pain reliever, a safety pin, travel size deodorant, tooth brush and paste, sunblock, debit card, ID, chapstick, GasX, and of course my cell!!

I am so sad that I have come to the end of this thread.....I have made my list...my baggallini messenger bag came yesterday. I need to order LUSH products...I need to go to Wal-Mart to purchase monistat cream...WOW I have a lot to do and only 73 days until we leave...happy planning girls!!!!

Hello Ladies... I am looking for a sun hat for the pool. I want one that's big and floppy. Where did you buy yours?
