Looking for Control Freaks & Worry Warts - Part 4!!!

Hiya Stace -

of course you're welcome.... some stay a little, others linger longer - some of life's friendships have been made on this board!!! Funny how it's easier to talk to strangers about the planning dilemmas!!

With that level of pre-packing, I reckon you belong here. Where are you staying, made any ADRs??

Tessa

Stace - WELCOME!!! Check us out on facebook too!!:yay: We welcome you and ask that you please be prepared to open your stressful soul up to each of us sitting here with open arms!!! LOL!:dance3:

So proud of DD10 she's earning her Bronze award, Leadership pin and bridging to a Cadette next week! :sad1: They grow up so fast!

The best news this week was when my GS co-leader told me that she doesn't want to focus on badges next year. She wants to ask the girls what they want to do and if those activities fit into a badge, great, otherwise oh well. I'm not especially happy about that. I enjoy stressing/planning all summer over the badges and then planning out the year's calendar with activities, only to have her rip the calendar (metaphorically) in my face.

I need a vacation. Oh did I tell you DH agreed to go to OH this summer!! We're spending one weekend at Cedar Point! I know it's not Disney, but it's WEST!! I've been trying to get west for 10 years! Taking our trailer and I hope to get some letterboxes while we're there too! :yay:

Hi girlies, we're baaack hahahhaa
Had a fabbo time as am sure some of you have already seen the piccies!! Nothing compares to WDW but Dlp does fill my Disney craving for a while. Although i have to say the one major difference still ticks me off (we're here so no swearing hahahha)
Hotel was lovely, food was lovely, weather could have been better but we're in Europe so as long as no rain it's a plus hey :rotfl:

Welcome Stace :flower3:

Tina .. For the non Americans i am assuming OH is Ohio by any chance??? :confused3 :)

Hiya all -

Lisa - have seen some darkish vids over on youtube - but best of all was the description on the WWoHP Dis board... was a walkthrough of the ride - it DOESN'T go upside down and is smooth ish - wooohooooo - but sounds quite intense with dementors and spiders spitting at you, and smoke and snake bones and a horizontal lay back or 2. Some are film effects, some animatronic and in your face. It's going to be busy!!!

Hiya everyone - nice to see there's a few of us left....

Tessa

Tessa i cannot begin to explain how very JEALOUS i am of you getting to go to WWOHP, pleeeeeeeeaaaaaase can you squeeze me in your suitcase?? Not Cj just me???? Hahahah yes i am a mercenary

Hi Ladies and Welcome Stace! 75% packed, huh? It sounds like me. :) Suitcases out and whatever I can get in them well in advance. The family used to think I was nuts for doing that but they've learned to live with it. The test drive in the stroller is too funny. Sorry to hear it didn't go well, no doubt there will be better things for her to see at Disney than at the mall. Maybe she won't mind strolling so much there. :thumbsup2

Tessa, thanks for the info. I read a few articles today and it sounds great. So glad to hear it doesn't go upside down so sissy me can ride it. I'll have to have a look at the Disboards and see what everyone is posting about it. I don't think the spiders will bother me... but, the thought of a dementor popping up next to me when I least expect it....let's just say I better go pee before I ride this. :rotfl2:

Erin, you and Chloe are two lucky gals to have just gone to DLP and to be going back in August. I laughed out loud when I read the part about Tessa stuffing you in her suitcase. :lmao: I don't think you'd be in there 5 minutes tho before you'd be missing Cj....or atleast until she'd come looking for you! hahaha

Tina, bummer on the GS change of plans. I just came back from Ohio! My husband is from Marysville, a little town about 30 miles south of Columbus. We had some friends we visited also that were camping in Oak Harbor. I think they told us we weren't too far from Cedar Point. You know this was the first vacation we'd taken in 3 years that wasn't to Disney so I wasn't very excited but I did enjoy myself once we got there. It was kind of exciting to be packing and planning for a trip. Keep us posted on the plans til you go.

Tammie, hope your cold weather is gone now and your veggies flourish! I miss having a garden, especially when I have to go to the grocery store and pay outrageous prices for the things we always grew. I miss my squash, bell peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers. I like the ticker for the cruise, that is so awesome!!

Hi Ladies! So great to be chatting over here!

Welcome Stacey! We would love to get to know you! We love to help each other plan and obsess! Don't forget the ziploc bags while you pack - it's a requirement here! :rotfl2: Maybe with so much to look at, your daughter will be okay in the stroller! She will probably actually nap there some of the time.

Erin! Welcome back! Can't wait to hear about your g-r-r-r- moment:confused3 Glad you had a good time!

Tina - us control freaks have a hard time when others don't fit in to our plans - try to relax and appreciate the help, and maybe there are things you can compromise on! Have a glass of :goodvibes I've heard Cedar Point is a great place - sounds like fun!

Hi Lisa! Hi Lydia!

Hiya

no way Erin - we travel light - no room - though you do look rather skinny (no offense intended - i know some folks feel bad to be called skinny, just like I don't like being called fat!) , so if you can squeeze into hand luggage who knows!! Staying in a villa means we do laundry overnight, so we take only 2 med cases (and a small hand luggage each) between the 4 of us.

I cannot WAIT for our trip 133 days to go!!! you will hear the squeal when we hit 99....

Universal is going to be on our middle Sunday/Monday with a Sun overnight stay for an early start....WWoHP had better live up to the hype!

Stace - normally we just do the Disney stuff with a side order of Universal- but Harry Potter is one of our kids favourite book series - so we are looking forward to the new stuff big time!!!

Tessa

Hahhahaha i think the latter hahhaa she'd be fighting me for space believe me!! :lmao:

Erin! Welcome back! Can't wait to hear about your g-r-r-r- moment:confused3 Glad you had a good time!

Thanks Tammie, oh the grgrgrgr moment is same as always when we go there, the Europeans are so mannerless and it drives me insane, we try not to go for characters as it is just too much to deal with, adults physically pushing kids out of the way to get their child to that character. They just have no idea of personal space or lining up for things and taking turns, it's ok to shove in at the last minute at a parade and things like that are the things that i cannot deal with, i struggle with rude and pushy. So we rarely queue for charcters, only if there's noone around them or someone we don't have really.

Hahhahahah thanks for the skinny comment, it has been a loooong time since anyone called me that, but i have lost a stone and a half so woohooo hahahaha maybe if i keep losing i will get into your hand luggage after all :lmao:

tessa - are you renting a car your entire trip or just on the day you're going to Universal? I'm thinking by the time we get down to FL on our next trip the Harry Potter thing will have died down, but I really don't want to rent a car and I know DH doesn't want to drive down again.

Stace - did you say you booked your ADRs yet?

Tammie - my gosh you like to cruise!! The Vancouver one looks interesting! My parents went on an Alaskan cruise and my dad put his bear foot on a glacier - very exciting moment for him - we're so proud.:confused3

So today I'm chaperoning DD7's field trip to the Zoo and then I'm coming home to work on those patriotic skirts.

DD10's been looking a little tired lately - I think her strep throat she had last week really did a number on her, she still has dark circles under her eyes!!:confused3 She says she's fine, but this AM she asked for cough medicine - not a good sign. I'm going to keep her on the couch this weekend!

What's everyone else's plans for the weekend?

So I wanted to show you guys this.

So I've decided to make a patriotic skirt for DDs. Here's the fabric I'm going to use.
IMG_1883.jpg

The Pledge of Allegiance square will be the front piece with a board around it and the red, white and blue stars will be the ruffles down the back. The ruffles are either going to be double of each color or red, white, blue, white red. I haven't decided. I think I'll do another smaller patriotic piece at the butt and then the blue with fireworks as a ruffle around the bottom.

Not much planned for the weekend. Gotta vacuum out the pool, I'll no doubt be looking over my shoulder the whole time I'm out there. When we got home Tuesday our neighbor called and said to be careful, there was a bear in the neighbor's backyard, 3 houses down from us. I saw a picture of it in the local paper online. I am afraid to let the kids out by themselves now until they catch it. They have also spotted them in other very populated areas around town in the last week. Our local authorities and the Wildlife Commission said they had no intention of relocating them, that they usually leave on their own. I sure hope they are right and it leaves soon. I would never have thought a bear would have crossed 7 lanes of traffic to get to our neighborhood to begin with.

Lisa - that doesn't give me a comfortable feeling!!! Stay safe! I've just googled "Natural ways to repel a bear" and got nothing - sorry.:confused3 Yeah I wouldn't let the kids out alone either.

So I was going to work on the patriotic skirt, but I hit the library on the way home and picked up "The Lion among Men" by Gregory Macguire - the third book in the Wicked series and I can't wait to get into it!! I'm hooked on this guy! I've already but holds on Mirror, Mirror and Lost. Sorry girls I'm sitting outside with some ice tea and a good book!!

Hmmm, my daughter has Wicked, maybe I should give it a try. I love being able to go online, check off the books I want and then have the library call me when they've pulled them off the shelves for me. Wish they'd have done that when I was a kid..lol. Yeah, the only way I could think of to repel the bear was the shotgun but they said we weren't allowed to harm them.....unless of course they were attacking someone. That made us feel much better. ;) It's just scary they are coming out in very populated residential and business areas all of a sudden. They are doing lots of construction around here though, so I guess they are being pushed out of their natuarl habitat. I think they should relocate them because of that fact alone.

Sounds like perfection Tina, i have just put clean bedding on and we have showered and into clean pj's another idea of perfection in our house

Erin, that sounds great! Unfortuantely, it is 3:31 pm here and I have yet to cook dinner and still waiting on the mail to come. I am tired....but no pj's just yet for me. :sad2:

Ahhh i have done all of that for one day now it's 9 here cj is on her way to bed and i will be lying on the sofa for the evening

The series is very unusual. With that said I think Confesions of an Ugly stepsister was AWESOME! The Son of a Witch was interesting, but they are very political and so far A Lion Among Men is about the same. I've requested Mirror, Mirror (which is is Snow White) and Lost (a woman who is being haunted by Jack the Ripper).

I love to read during the summer, but I'm having a tough time finding an author this season. I've read so much I'm having problems. Who's your favorite author?

So my nice relaxing afternoon turned into DD7 and I digging and raking dirt and sand for the pool. It's always my nemsis every year getting the sand flat for the pool. This year we're digging a hole in the middle and pulling the sand to the sides. Lots of work.

you'll laugh at me Tina. My pool is listing a bit this year. I broke down and picked up a 10ft x 2ft pool. nothing spectacular but enough entertain the troops.

im partial to Vince Flynn...a suspense writer from MN. they are all political/spy thrillers.

How did everyone's Saturday go? DD10 got a little sunstroke after playing outside at a party. Did a little raking at the pool dirt - man I need to get the pool up it is so hot! Did not work on the ruffle skirt - man I have to get that thing done.

Got a PIN in the mail today 40% off, so I called - I had to find out if it was a good deal. 10/24-30 with dining for the four of us at an All Star was $2300 - hello that isn't a deal! 8/22-28 with free dining for the four of us at an All Star W/FLIGHTS was $2700. That's not a deal!

Hi Ladies! I love hearing about reading in the yard, putting up the pool, etc. I'm glad someone is having Summer!:rotfl2: Actually, I think we will have 75 and sunshine tomorrow finally! I had a hard morning - got down about my hard time with DS and DIL. Then I went and trained some new consultants at a party in the afternoon, tonight we walked to the store and got some buns and chips, grilled brats and watched The Princess and the Frog on PPV, then America's got Talent - loved Michael Grimm!!!!

Church tomorrow, then I hope to get some housework done, spend some time outside and make some calls for a Monday night event.
