Restaurant that others rave over but you think...really?

If I had to pick, I'd say Ohana. I've been there twice in two years so I feel at liberty to declare it nowhere near as good as it's popularity suggests. As people have pointed out, you're likely to get burnt, dried out meats.

I hate to say it but for us it was the Garden Grill last year:confused: It took me forever to finally get us in and the food was horrible:eek: It was cold, the meat was dry, and our waitress seemed rushed! We never got our drinks refilled either. The food was so bad we went back to CSR and ate Counter Service at Pepper Market:thumbsup2 The characters also seemed rushed and we didn't even get to see Chip and Dale. :sad2:

I have heard good reviews about this place so I was shocked:confused3 when we had such a terrible experience there!:sad2: I'm hoping we just hit it on a bad, busy night:thumbsup2...we were there in June. I would try it again,:goodvibes but my DH & Mom would kill me if I booked it for our upcoming trip.

For me it's the Wave. I love the lounge, but I find the actual restaurant's menu and atmosphere both completely charmless.

Crystal Palace! We waited over an hour WITH an ADR and walked in to a filthy place! Food was on the floor, booth and buffet picked over. The character rotation was poor since only one ever made it to out table. By the time we complained we were ready to leave. Disappointing!

Our biggest disapointment was Lecellier. I mean it was o.k. but after all the hype, it was a downer. The steak was O.K. and desserts were fair, but whats with all the hype? :confused3
We spent approx $250. for lunch, and we left thinking, why ???
I have also noticed a distinctly different "vibe" from the cm's who work at Lecellier. I have seen them treat guests rather rudely. Poor manager had to deal with several unhappy patrons while we waited for our table.

For us it was Boma - not terrible just okay. Glad we went once but wouldn't go back.

The only two restaurants we really hated (but they don't get rave reviews) were Tony's and Hollywood and Vine. NEVER AGAIN!

Le Cellier - not nearly as good as hyped, plus the server spilled a meal on me and that didn't help.

Sci-Fi - food was disappointing

Eating meat dishes at Animal Kingdom at any restaurant makes me uneasy and feeling bad with all the animals and birds around. I find it hard to eat a meal there.

Our two biggest disappointments would be 50's PTC, for any meal, and Boma for breakfast.

Crystal Palace- seriously. We went here in '07, and never again. The food from the buffet was just yuck. The only character that we loved there was actually Eeyore. He seemed to like making my son smile, which he did a lot.

Ohana- Our service was pretty poor and the breakfast was eh. We didnt get our fruit until the meal was almost over with (and I asked).. the waffles were like hockey pucks, and the eggs were pretty runny.

Again though, the characters were full of awesome.

We are going to try again this year to see if maybe we dont like the breakfast better.

Ohana's for dinner...I thought the service was lacking a lot & the food was dry (meat) and just not very good as was the other side items. Not worth it. I think it is a good value though to some people because you get 3 courses and some games/parades for the kids.

YUCK! Not very much fun, either. Soo disappointed in everything from the antics to the cocktails to the food. Dessert and shakes were OK, and that was a good thing!

Yea, we were so excited a couple of years ago to get a ressie here, had heard all the antics and we were looking forward to surprising the kids. We got the most hateful server and she got on to us for using our salad plates for our cornbread....then she didn't bring refills for our drinks, wouldn't let my kids order from the kids menu even though they didn't want anything from the adult menu and we were seated in the furthest corner behind a wall (30 minutes after our ADRs) and pretty much ignored for the whole meal....no fun ketchup antics, nothing :(

Cosmic Ray's. I do not understand how people can call those burgers food. They are disgusting.

Kristine

Funny story....when we first got married we were not rich by any means. We'd go to Disney and stay offsite and we'd usually treat ourselves to one meal (cheap) on Disney property in the MK (we didn't visit the other parks). For some reason the first year we chose Cosmic Rays....and ever since then we always go in there for burgers or something. Just a reminder of what we used to consider a 'treat' :)

Love all the oppions!!, I t shows alot of food lovers at Disney. I reall have never found a bad meal at Disney, now I have found favorits! and there was alot of my favorits that Dis fans found not good. Your always going to get a diffrent reaction to every place and meal. But what I love most about the diffrent in oppions Is getting to try them for my self and see. Thanks

Definitely agree.....some of our favorites are places others find yucky...like Liberty Tree Tavern and Garden Grill. We also love Sci Fi and make it a stop every year :) So it's definitely worth it to try out the restaurants for yourself and you never know what might become a favorite :)

So interesting to read everyone's opinions -- guess I've been very lucky with my dining experiences. With so many people not liking Le Cellier, why is it so hard to get ADR's there?? Anyway, my worst ever meal was lunch at Sci Fi -- it was just plain not fit to eat. Lots of times it just depends upon your expectations, I still take my DGC to Chef Mickey's and I only hope to find something hot and not too dried out. I can pretty much get full on a couple of items and if the kids are having fun, I'm more than OK. :)

CALI GRILL - Expect for my "snake in the grass" sushi app., I thought the food was horrible. My dad is a chef and he agreed.

I never thought I'd say this but after our lunch at Le Cellier yesterday, it's fallen right off the list. I was so disappointed, the filet was fatty and quite tough (the filet at Teppan Edo was much better). The cream cheese potatoes were blah. We've always had such good meals there and I've never understood the negative reviews. Now I do. We have lunch reservations for next Sunday and I'm cancelling them.

Hollywood Brown Derby - Expensive for what you get. Small portions and high prices. We were not impressed.

I've never heard anyone *rave* about Chef Mickey's!

We have been underwhelmed by: Le Cellier, Cape May buffet (both breakfast and dinner), California Grill, Flying Fish and, yes, 'Ohana the last time I was there ...

We rarely eat CS so I don't have much input there.
