**Tie Dye Mickey ears shirts directions**NEW NEW PICS LAST PAGE**

I can tell you that here we have a Tuesday Mornings. And they had the tie-dye kits for 3.99 that comes with 3 color bottles.. I was so excited since these are 7 at Hobby Lobby.

I just had an "ah-ha moment"!

Soda ash=sodium carbonate=Arm and Hammer WASHING Soda which I have in my basement all the time since I make my own laundry detergent.

YAY!!!!!!

Exactly! Sodium Carbonate is the same thing. I also use it when washing white clothes. :thumbsup2

Made these shirts tonight with the kids - we can't wait til tomorrow to see how it comes out!

Pixie,

Wow, I just checked out the Tutorial and you are amazing. Thank you so much for posting so many pics, I am such a visual learner that this made me feel like even I could do it!

Thank You,
April

Basted and soaked the shirts overnight. We'll be dyeing them this afternoon. Hoping they come out great!

They're all dyed :cool1: Should we wait until tomorrow night to rinse and wash them? I'm hoping we get less white than last time.

I always leave mine for 24 hours,it helps if the area is warm, the warmer the faster the dye reacts, you can put them on top of your dyer, or in your laundry room some where where is not too cold.

Your shirts are great! I've been doing them since Fall 2005. The tie-dye kits available at Wally World and craft stores no longer have the soda ash in the kit and have a change in the dye so that step is eliminated. I have done them both ways and I don't see a difference in color or anything.

The other great thing about this technique is you can use any image that isn't really detailed. I have also done a set of dinosaurs. I also keep meaning to try a Palm tree or Christmas tree.

Keep up the good work!

Jenn

How long should we rinse them- until the dye stops running?

Then do we wash them separately or together. Will the dye from the different shirts run together?

Thanks!!

OK, I have my shirts basted and ready to soak.
Question 1: How long should I soak them?
Question 2: The jar says I only need 2 tsp of dye for every 8oz of water. Do you need more for turquoise or purple?
Question 3: Will 8oz each of turquoise, magenta, yellow, and lilac be enough for 6 shirts (4 of them are kids' shirts)?
Question 4: How long does it usually take to dye each shirt?
Thank you! :goodvibes
