How will it be when transferring an existing reservation made onboard with 50% deposit? - will we now need to pay the full deposit amount? Ouch...

Yes you will need to pay the full deposit if you booked from 9/24 on even if your original ressie has the 50% deposit.

What cruise have you booked for you first Disney? What cabin type?

We are on the 11/14/09 special Western (2 stops at CC) in a Cat 5 (which will be a 5A under the new deck plans).

I've gotten someone to get me a quote on the 8/23 cruise putting myself and my DD in a 5C with DH and DS in an 11b, just so you know the children are charged as adults. THe prices are as follows:
Cat 5C 4109.26
Cat 11B 2249.26
So total is 6328.52

Also, based on other pricing listed on page 1 of this thread, I can extrapolate out to 2 ad 2k in a cat 5c, cost for that one is 6538.52 All of these pricing is for 8/23/11 cruise

Thank you so much Jel! That's not as bad as I was expecting.

Boy- I hardly ever saw my teen Niece and Nephews since they were having such a great time w/friends in the teen area on Radiance in Alaska in 2006.

We were on the Serenade and have heard since that the programming varies quite a bit been the ships. Beautiful ship, but several things were lacking.

Well this kind of stinks. I only booked my Nov. 2010 date while on board b/c Nov. 2011 wasn't out yet. I'm not changing itineraries - I just cant cruise in 2010.

I spoke with a supervisor on Tuesday who told me if you have the 1/2 price offer on a reservation that you are transferring, then you still get the benefit of the 1/2 price deposit when tranferring your reservation on Monday. So...for Alaska, we paid $125 deposit. Alaska will be $600, 1/2 will be $300, so Monday we have to pay an additional $175 per person. That's what he confirmed, but seems like you always get different answers depending on who you speak with at DCL.

I sure hope this is true, but I'm not holding my breath.

Earlier this week I booked:

8/16/2011 to Alaska

Cat 9B 2A 2K, 8 & 6

No air/ins

$5258.52

I received a reply from DCL regarding the 50% deposit offer. They confirmed that as Silver CC members, we will not be able to take advantage of this offer. :sad2:

I really grudge giving DCL $1800 on Monday (for a vacation almost 2 years away ) considering I still can't even book my flights yet for my TA cruise in 2010! :scared1:

However, I'm sure, like many others, I will probably book anyway to make sure I can get on the ship so I can cruise in Alaska with Mickey.

I have a question about booking online on Monday. Should I log into my DCL account before 8 am? If I'm on the website before 8, should I just keep hitting Refresh around 8 to bring up the new booking options?

Even when transferring on-board bookings?
Thats the real stinker to me. I'm not even trying to book one of the specialty cruises - I just want my Nov. 2010 eastern to be a Nov. 2011 eastern. Its stupid that I have to pay more on my deposit to make that happen. Its not even about parting w/ the money (although personally this isn't a good time for us), but I should be able to move my "dummy" booking without forking over extra $$ to do so.:confused3

This is also what I have been told.

I'm on the 5 am West Coast caffeine train as well :jumping1:

Same here...last week I waited till the next day, instead of the first AM because was debating on if I wanted to cruise to Alaska without going through GB....but did and have our ressi.

But a friend from Iraq e-mailed me and wants to go and cant tell me till Sunday by e-mail what date. So if cant go on the date of my ressi is for I will need to pay a higher price, deposit, and be on the phone at 5am. O'well....

Caffeine here we come.....Luckely DH and I can go anytime that the kids are out of school. So we are open.

July seems to be the most expensive but from what I understand is also the warmest.

I haven't been paying that much attention to the Alaskan cruises because I thought we weren't going to try to book one, but that might be changing. So, I have to admit confusion about something in the first post between 5/3 and 5/10:

Other info on Alaska cruises:
All the 7s on deck 7 are booked, 1 cabin now left on deck 6 and they had about 9 7s on deck 5.
For 6As, they are only booking GTY status.

Is this for all Alaskan cruises? Does it attach to 5/3 or 5/10? :confused3 Please help! Thank you!!!

Question about Alaskan Cruise

Hello everyone :) (I'm using my DD's account by the way)
Our family is looking into going on our first cruise 2011 we are thinking Alaskan cruise for numorous reasons
1) DH really wants to take a cruise to Alaska
2) We gave the In-Laws a Alaskan cruise for their 50th anniversary this year and that make DH want to go even more
3) We live an hour away from the border so we could drive there and skip the night in a hotel and the flight cost which brings the cost down ALOT
4) DD has been dreaming of a Disney cruise for the past 2 years and the next year after this will be her Senior year (YIKES) and so we want to take her on that cruise before she graduates
5) We are not casino fans and no casinos on DCL

We have a family of 4 Me, DH, DD (15 will be 17 when we cruise IF we cruise), and DS (17 will be 19 when we cruise IF we cruise)
We don't plan to book for awhile for a couple of reason's
1) Wouldn't know if DS could come till about 6 months before the date due to college
2) DD has a lot of things going on that Summer, (Trip to France with French club, Trip to New York with dance team, and most like missions trip to the Phillippines with Church) and we wont know the exact dates of those trips till about 6 months before hand
3) Going to Vancouver 2010 for Winter vacation this year so got to pay off that before booking cruise, and Hawaii for Summer vacation so we need to pay off those 2 things before booking a cruise

So my point is do you think the prices will go down as time goes on like I know there are some deals out right now. Also are there any chance of WA state resident discounts as we live right by where the cruise will be leaving from (Only 2 hours away) Also would we need 2 state rooms if my DS can come? Also what would a first time cruiser want to know, and would this be a good first time cruiser cruise?
Thanks so much for all the help!

I tend to doubt prices will go down. DCL prices increase as the ship fills. The more popular the cruises, the more expensive the sailing. So far the AK cruises have proven to be very popular, and I'll be curious to see myself how much prices have increased between 9/21 and 9/28.

I cannot help you with WA state discounts, sorry. I suppose anything is possible if the sailings aren't filling.

Did they offer CA resident discounts for the MR sailings?

Except for this past year, prices for DCL cruises have mainly gone up and not down...especially when the cruises are popular and book quickly.

I seriously doubt that there will be any WA discounts. The ship is not cruising out of that state and when it has cruised out of CA the past two summers there were no discounts offered to those residents.

You don't have to have two staterooms if you can all get along for 7 days in one room. You could get two staterooms and with the kids' ages you won't have to worry as much about them being right next to yours so that is an option too.

I am sorry but I have searched both this thread and the forum for the DVC threads and cannot find that post. The person who posted that gave numerous quotes for DVC points for Alaska. I believe this was the info that DVC gave her for all of the summer Alaskan cruises.

its on your first post to this thread and it is typed right between the list of prices for the 5/3/2011 alaska cruise and the 5/10/2011 alaska cruise. i was wondering that too as if i remember correctly one of the dates was noted that all cat 6 and 7 cabins are booked already.

5/3 C04A 2A1K 4 $8080.89 [w/ ins]
5/3 C05? 2A $4349.26
5/3 #6616 3A $5683.89
5/3 C00T #8590 2A $9868
DVC:
5/3 C07A 2A 273 points pp/$1913
5/3 7A 290 pt each adult or $203
5/3 9A 249 pts ea or $1743
5/3 11A 173 pts or $1213

Other info on Alaska cruises:

5/10 C07? 2A $3809.26 [no trns/ins]
5/10 C05C 2A1K 3 $5323.89 [1&2 $1959, 3 $1119, T&F $286.89]
5/10 C10A #5020 2A $2967.26
5/10 C11C 2A $2287

We really wanted to book Alaska and love DCL but are going back and forth about the $600 deposit (looking to book 12 people in 5 cabins). Part of the reason is that apparently Silver CC members are not as valuable to DCL as Gold and Platinum.:confused3 I understand DCL giving more to those who have sailed more often and even the opportunity to book early but to not extend the 1/2 price deposit to all CC members really makes me stop and think!
And just putting it out there but I wonder how long it will take the parks and resorts to start rewarding those who frequent them.
