Thanks Jen
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo! - I was hoping you'd say he'd outgrow it! Dont tell me he'll be like this as a teenager too
How do you cope? He drives me crazy with his lack of interest and enthusiasm I'm the total opposite, I'm a speed freak and perfectionist so you can imagine how frustrating it is to have the slowest child in England who doesnt give a hoot about the presentation or quality of his work. I'm going to be in a mental institute before he's 12
Seriously though - does it cause friction in your family? I'm so embarrassed sometimes of his handwriting that I make him re-do a whole piece of homework (his writing is lovely when he takes care and barely readable when he doesnt). Even the teacher commented in the report that his homework is of a much higher standard than his class work - (thats only because we make him do it properly though).
I just wish she'd have higher standards and would turn round and tell him its not satisfactory. Unfortunately, because she has a lot less able children to sort out, he slips under the radar and she doesnt expect better from him, even though she knows he can do a LOT better.
Have you resigned yourself or do you just keep pushing? I feel like I spend my whole waking day telling Ellis to speed up and get a move on.
thanks for that info steve!!
i'm thinking free windows for everyone!!!!
Ok... is anyone else depressed today. I wanna replay the last 2 weekends.
Better yet...let's have another dis meet. Where shoud we have it...Texas, Canada, California or Virginia (That's much closer for us.)
Karen,
My DS # 2 is exactly like that. He could write a book on how to get the most out of the littlest work. It has always made me crazy and still does. But he has enjoyed every minute of life. His first grade teacher used to send him to read to the principle to keep him busy. He will be graduating from college in April. Not on any honor rolls, but never lost his scholarships and enjoyed college. I am sure if he wanted to go to law school or med school his grades would matter, but a solid B did him well.
You can't stress out, I did make him do homework before he could do anything else. They were very active in sports so the coaches also helped to get them to keep the grades up. Good luck and remember to pick your battles there are much bigger ones ahead.
Ok here's mine....

I got some pictures posted on photobucket from our vacation. While it probably isn't in demand as much as the WI DIS meet, I thought I'd share. Forgive me if there are a couple I have already shared. I can't remember which ones from earlier in the week that I have posted.
Crossing into Delaware via the Delaware Memorial Bridge
Coming out of the Ft. McHenry Tunnel in Baltimore...made us get giddy for the cruise.
Seeing Marine One as we cross into Virginia.
