What is the Best Cabin Loop To Stay In??

We've stayed at the campground before but never in one of the cabins. What are the best loops to stay in?

Thanks! I've seen this map and it seems to me that the 2100, 2200, and 2300 are the most secluded of the loops. I was wondering if anyone else on the board has stayed in any of these loops and if they thought they were the best loops to stay in also.

We stayed on the 2600 loop all three times. It is near the pool and the bus stops. Honestly, I think it is more important to be at the start of the loop near the bus stops then what specific cabin loop. We have always had a golf cart and never really cared where we stayed. It has always been very very quiet too.

We stayed in the front of the 2100 loop and loved it. Close to bus stop, but also right in the middle of the fort. We rode our bikes both ways (outpost and settlement) and it was close both ways. 2100 is not swampy at all.

While we are talking about which loop to request would anyone know if any of the cabins in loops 2100, 2300 and 2500 actually backs up to the canal that shows on the map?

We are coming to the Fort in March and, if practical, I would like to request a cabin on one of those loops to try some fishing.

Is there a map available that shows the actual cabin address number?

There is no map of site numbers, only loop numbers. From a look at Google Earth, it appears that 2100, 2300, and 2500 each have cabins that back up to the canal. Unless someone can provide you some intel about site numbers, your best bet might be to fax a site request stating that you want a canal view.

This may help to figure out what site #'s are near the canals.

2100 loop - 44 cabins; 2200 loop - 44 cabins; 2300 loop - 30 cabins; 2400 loop - 49 cabins; 2500 loop - 33 cabins; 2600 loop - 65 cabins; 2700 loop - 72 cabins; 2800 loop - 70 cabins.

My observations regarding site numbers is that the numbers increase as you travel through the loop, which are all one-way (though not predictably clockwise or counter). The cabin loops all appear to be clockwise. They are assigned in order of drive entry, that is, the next drive gets the next number regardless of which side of the road it is on, so even and odd numbers can occur on the same side of the road. Unfortunately, there is not enough resolution in Google Earth to determine exactly what the ordering of sites might be, so a request for a canal view might still be your best bet.

As I think about it, the only clockwise loops seem to be the cabins and 700... are there others?

I like the idea of requesting a canal-view cabin and if I can figure out likely cabin numbers I may add them also.

I can see it now, sitting out on the deck with a cold bottle of Strongbow Cider and watching the Sun set over the broad expanse of the canal (like maybe 50')

We just got back from 4 nights there, in one of the accessible cabins. Our number was 2822 in Willow Way Loop. We thought it was great, very secluded, there were deer in the back yard every morning. Not too long of a walk to the bus stop on Peacock Pass, and I walked up to the Marina too, good sidewalks for biking, wheelchairs, etc. We also rented a golf cart, but our wheelchair wouldn't fit on the back. But it was fun to tootle around in!

Yes, the cabins have outdoor electric plugs.

If view is not a concern, I would recommend a loop as far north as possible. Also, if you don't have a cart, avoid the middle of loops as they present the longest walk to the bus stop.

We were in 2832 in December, the exact opposite of what I recommend. It was still a good time. So the worst case isn't that bad.
