Hey all, I have lived in Central Jersey my whole life, and have eaten a lot of places - trust me, I really have, you can tell by the hips!!! :lmao:
So anyway, fellow New Jerseyians, what are some of your favorite places to eat in Jersey?? Heres my list:

Old Man Rafferties - Asbury Park, NJ
Market in the Middle - Asbury Park, NJ
Ragin Cajun - Belmar, NJ
Casa Comita - Long Branch, NJ
Sono Sushi - Middletown, NJ
Whats Your Beef - Rumson, NJ
Neelams - Middletown, NJ
The Harrison - Asbury Park, NJ
Tuzzios - Long Branch, NJ
Kobe - Hazlet, NJ
Juanitos - Red Bank, NJ
Moonstruck - Asbury Park, NJ
McCloons - Long Branch, NJ
Fornos - Newark, NJ

I know I'm missing a whole bunch, but its all I can think of right now! What about you?

great picks, but i gotta add a couple...

mr pi's sushi - metuchen
marita's cantina - new brunswick
white manna - hackensack
magnifiico's ice cream - south river
tick-tock - clifton

I haven't lived in NJ in about 19 years, but...

Victoria Station, Wayne
Rutts Hut, Clifton

Pompton Queen Diner, Pompton Plains (Can someone FedEx me a Queen salad?) I'm in withdrawal! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!

The Village Inn, Pompton Plains
Kermit's Pond, Oakland
The Hoffbrau, Wayne
Gabriel's, Wayne
94th Bomb Group, Fairfield
With Love, Wayne

There were a couple tucked in on back roads that we used to visit occasionally. I wish I remember the names of them! :lovestruc

Awww, I loved Victoria Station too, but it's no longer there. Rutt's Hut, Pompton Queen and Gabriel's I know are still there. The others I'm not so sure. Since we live north of there now, we don't eat in that area as much.

Rutts Hut, Clifton

Rutt's Hut is still as great as you remember it, PW. :cloud9:

Going north to south, I would add:

Arthur's, Morris Plains--The steak! The burgers!

Charlie Brown's, Tenafly--CB's is a chain. The Tenafly location is the best one around here. YMMV at your local CB's. It's always a good value.

LaFamiglia, Bogota--The best Italian food almost anywhere.

Lido's, Hackensack--Unique. Steak sandwiches are as good as Rutt Hut's.

Segovia, Moonachie--Excellent Spanish/Portguese. Awesome sangria

River Palm Terrace--Edgewater--when you want to splurge.

The Iberia, Newark--Spanish/Portguese + sangria--THE place to go if you're attending something at PAC.

Charley's Ocean Grill, Long Branch--Great location and food.

The Crab Claw Inn, Lavalette--Atmosphere, entertainment and quality of food are all top notch.

The Lobster House, Cape May--Best seafood in NJ IMO.

I second "Moonstruck" in Asbury Park and Crab's Claw in Lavallette :cool1:

I also like the Deauville Inn in Strathmere (just over the OCNJ bridge).

Willie's Tavern - Bedminster, NJ
Arthur's Steakhouse - Morris Plains NJ
We also love Uncle Bill's Pancake house in OCNJ

Thanks for the update! :) Victoria Station was so neat!

:thumbsup2 Sheesh...when we were kids there was also a place somewhere near Rutts Hut with trampolines. All different colored trampolines. That used to be a weekend stop. :worship:

My dad used to work in Kenilworth. There were a couple restaurants down that way we visited occasionally. Always a great time! :dance3:

Pub 199 - Mt Arlington. No frills - loud and noisy but GREAT seafood.
Nanni Ristorante - Rochelle Park - Great Italian
Andiamo - Dumont - also great

If it's the same Old Man Rafferty's I'm thinking if, it's actually in New Brunswick. Good food!

We also LOVE Harvest Moon (New Brunswick). Great Brew Pup with the BEST buffalo wings in the area.
New Brunswick is also home to Stuff Yer Face, a little converted house that has ANY kind of stromboli you can think of, and has "Fish Bowls" for four of their "adult" beverages (32 oz in an actual fish bowl).
Also, Triumph (they have three locations, Princeton, New Hope and Philly). They're a great Brew Pup who have the best burgers.

Hoagie Haven in Princeton is delicious!
There's a place called Freddy's in West Trenton that is really good.
And the now closed Palermo's in West Trenton- HUGE servings for cheap prices. Delicious food!
There are a bunch of other places in the area that I've been to once or twice but can't remember the names.

Yumm...Juanitos and Arthurs (we used to go to the one in New Brunswick, I think they closed :( ).

Jose Tejas - Woodbridge
Harold's Deli - Edison

Charley's Ocean Grill, Long Branch--Great location and food.

They ripped down the Charlies and built and new and bigger one - it looks awsome, and I've heard good things, but I have yet to get there.

The orignal one is in New Brunswick, but they opened another one in Asbury Park about 18 months ago. We are going tomorrow night - I can't wait!! The deserts alone could get me there 7 days a week!!!

I was born and raised in Somerset County, NJ - here are my favorites:

Arthur's in Morris Plains
Mia Sorrella, Manville
Stuff yer Face, New Brunswick

Well I know more western NJ ones.

The Perryville Inn- Perryville
The Fine Diner in Clinton(Best pancake breakfasts!!)
Cocina Del Sol- Frenchtown BYOB (great fresh MEXICAN! and you can bring in your own beer!)
The Grand Colonial for fancy and fondue.

There is a Old Man Rafferty's in Hillsborough NJ too. Great food! Also like the The Green Knoll Grille in Bridgewater, OK food great drinks!!

It's been about fifteen years since I lived in that area, and only one of the restaurants on that list sound even remotely familiar! Things must have changed a bit, eh? :)

Rutts Hut is my DH's favorite place. He can eat fried hot dogs all da way everyday. The Coral in Peterson also has good Texas Weiner's & fries all da way.

Kermit's Pond is gone.
The Haufbrau is gone - it's now Tiff's
94th Bomber - gone! That was such a cool place to go hang out. Shame.
With Love - gone, I think it's a nursery school now

The Pompton Queen is one of my favorite diners along with Tick Tock. I ate at Pompton Queen a lot when I was pregnant, I was addicted to their Disco Fries. I agree the Queen salad is really good.:thumbsup2

Some of my favs:
E&V, Paterson - THE best Italian you will ever have *IMO*
Franklin Steakhouse, Nutley
Cafe Metro, Denville (vegitarian)
El Cid, Paramus (Portugese)
Portugese Tavern, Paterson
Francesco's, West Paterson (Italian)
River Palm Terrace, Paramus
Uncle Bill's Pancake House of course :lovestruc
Houston's, Riverside Square Mall

Holy cow! Too many of my favorites are gone. :( With Love was where DH put the engagement ring on my finger. :sad1:

The Brown Derby - Wyckoff

Oh wait - I don't remember if there was ever actually food :rolleyes1

Haven't been back in 30 years, but still have very fond memories when the drinking age was still 18.

Any place with pizza or Italian food. You just can't get NJ Italian food in Colorado.
