wow ! we LOVED the steakhouse character brunch
we ate here on Sunday 10th Aug @ 12pm ( were the first people there so had the characters to ourselves for a while !)

everything was fab,the atmosphere,staff,food,wine ;)
it was our "posh " meal of the trip and certainly didn't disappoint

would definitely recommend it :goodvibes
we all said that we could have quite happily stayed there all afternoon drinking the wine and eating the scrummy food lol

had to drag ourselves away :rotfl:

We ate here last Sunday, 17th August. :cloud9:

We were booked in at midday and as usual were offered a glass of champagne on entering, although none of us wanted it. Five minutes later the waiter brought 4 non-alcoholic cocktails to our table, 'with compliments'. I presume this was as we had no champagne, but anyway they were DELICIOUS - and very pretty with layers of colours and sugar frosting.

So we were in a good mood to start with, but really it is difficult to fault this restaurant. The characters were out straight away, so you have quite a bit of time with them. We saw Mickey and Jessie and Pluto and Goofy while we were there. There is also a lady that goes around making balloon models for the children - and I don't mean the simple sausage-dog type balloon that even I can do. She did Dtr a horse, complete with bobbly mane and a bridle. There was a chap playing the piano and singing - he was good but not so loud that it intruded on your meal.

Food........ even with all the other stuff, the food has to be good.....and it is. There was as much variety as last time and it was all well cooked and presented. There were the usual salads, cold meats and lots of shellfish. In the hot section there were chicken wings, ribs, fish and vegetables. The chef was carving lamb and (I think) beef and the lamb was as tender as I have tasted. The desserts selection was really good too.

Son has an enormous appetite and this proved to be a good choice of venue for him. He ploughed his way through several starters, mains and desserts and lots of refills of coke. I don't mind, as he doesn't just put food on his plate for the sake of it - he eats and enjoys it all.

We were all really full and feeling completely satisfied when we had finished.

The bill for 3 adults (105.00 Euros) and 1 child (10 Euros) was 115.00 Euros in total, although I then got 15% shareholder discount.

Looks lovely!!! Shame we won't be there on a Sunday...

I tried taking the photos of the ordinary menu, as requested but they were too big really, so I just took a photo of as much of the half board menu as I could get in. Hope you get a flavour of the place from that. They did have a special deal on - the set menu was, I think, only 25 Euros if seated by 6.00pm

We ate here on the final evening on our trip, and we really enjoyed it!

We arrived and were seated after a short wait. However, we were asked to move tables by a rather embarassed waitress after about two minutes. We didn't mind (Bless her, I think she was really scared to ask us!) as we got moved to a much better table! After we'd got seated, we examined the menu and then waited. And waited. And waited. Yes, service was very slow. It was very busy though, and we don't mind waiting. Our waiter eventually arrived and was very apologetic for the slow service.... We didn't mind really. However, if you'd been starving or really thirsty it would more than likely have been a problem....

Robert went for the New York Strip Steak:

He likes his steak quite rare, but in France he generally orders it medium as it comes out closer to British rare...

While I went for the seabass with a spinach and pine nut salad:

These meals were both excellent, and thats an understatement! They were very very good and excellently cooked.

For dessert, Robert opted for the 'Chocolate Chocolate' dessert, which was his favourite dessert of the trip.... A chocolate and caramel fondant with peanut butter ice cream, strawberries, and cream, laced with a tiny bit of Southern Comfort (Which Robert said wasn't a problem as he couldn't taste it!):

After some deliberation (I wanted nearly all of the desserts, with the Key Lime pie looking very tempting indeed!), I opted for the Cafe Gourmand:

The desserts were chocolate mousse, coconut cake, and finally, my favourite, the chocolate and lemon tulip.... You'd think the flourescent green colour would put me off, but no! I thought it looked and tasted amazing!!

We loved the atmosphere too- The live music from the piano player was a lovely touch (I think thats what totally bowled Robert over!).... I do think it could do with a little bit of partitioning though as it can get very noisy as it is essentially just one room....

Total bill was 85.50Euro....Including our soft drinks.

We really enjoyed it here, and would go back again in a heartbeat. I think this restaurant and the California Grill are the main reasons Robert already wants to plan another trip!

Glad you enjoyed it! Now you know why it is one of my favs (they changed the Cafe Gormand menu a little).

I really do think that the Steakhouse and California Grill do rival the best of what WDW has to offer!

Thats something I wanted to point out actually, they used to do two Cafe Gourmands and now they only do one.... I wonder why?

Bob thanks for the great review :)
Keep these coming folks as this will help folks in the budget and trip planning :thumbsup2

If anyone has any questions then just start up a new thread :)

Bob, that sounds really lovely. I love Key Lime Pie! We had decided to do the character brunch there on the Sunday but I'm tempted to eat dinner there too after what you and Davewasbaloo have said.

We had the set menu lunch during august (think it was about 25 euros each for a 3 course meal), and it was our favourite meal of the trip. The main thing we enjoyed was how serene and quiet it was inside. Such a great antidote to the hustle and bustle of the parks. It really chilled us out, and set us up for the rest of the day :thumbsup2
The food was also delicious, and we thought it was really well themed inside :) We ate at about 3 o'clock, and it meant we were stuffed for the rest of the day, so budget wise it is a good way of eating, especially if you have a bumper breakfast for free at the hotel to keep you going until then.

We ate here on the 30th November at 6:30pm.

The menu has changed slightly from the one above.

I love the interior of this resturant, its areally lovely place to eat and the tables seem to be more spaced out than places like Cafe Mickey, so you not sitting on top of everyone :lmao: .

Service was very good, prompt and polite. It was about 3/4 full when we arrived and full by the time left. Again I would make sure you have a reservation.

To start with I had a cranberry and champagne cocktail which was very nice

067.jpg

Henry had a beer

068.jpg

I had the kobe burger which was very nice, the beef was very good quality.

073.jpg

Henry had the ostrich steak, which had a hazlenut mash and was amazing!

072.jpg

I then had the baileys creme brulee which was very yummy and had just the right amount of baileys.

075.jpg

Henry had the black and white chocolate sundae which was huge!

We loved it here, and this was our overall favourite given the quality of the food and value for money. I also think the steakhouse has a good menu for children and picky eaters.

We paid using the face value of our premium vouchers and paid the couple of euros difference.

Those pics are amazing! I can't wait to get some of that in me in a weeks time! :cool1:

We had a lovely meal here during our recent trip. If you eat before I believe 7pm then the set menu is reduced to 21 euro! For 3 courses this was excellent value and we really enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere of the place.

We had lunch/brunch here on Sunday, 21st December. We were booked in for 12.30 pm.

When we entered the restaurant, we were given a glass of bubbly. DH said that he thought the outside of the restaurant looked a bit 'shabby' but was impressed when we went in. The variety of food was just great - starters, main & dessert (there was a chocolate fountain!). You can also help yourself to wine & soft drinks. I didn't take any pics of the hot selection as I didn't want to keep opening the lids lol.

There was a lady who sang & played the piano and she later went round the tables (she came over to ours and sang to Adam and Adam was like 'Mummmmeeeeeee' lol) and there was also a balloon lady. She made Louise a flower and a sword for Adam. We thought she could've made him something else (we always get swords lol) - she made Pluto & Tigger for the 2 boys on the next table.

We saw Gideon, Mickey, Pluto & Goofy - thought there would be a couple more characters at least but they did spend a bit more time at each table and weren't rushing about.

We really enjoyed this meal - think it was the best meal of the trip. The food was really good and I probably enjoyed it much more because I actually didn't have to make as many trips to the loo as I did during the other meals we've had (the kids, not me). It's always me who has to take them to the loo, you see, so it interrupts my meal time;) .

Sorry but I forgot to look at how much the individual costs were for adults/children but it was 90 Euros for 2 adults & 2 kids. If we happen to be in DLRP on a Sunday again, we would definitely have lunch here again... and would even be tempted to have an evening meal here too.

Hi, Alice, it was nice to bump into you here as well.

I agree the food was delicious, and there were some extra things that haven't been out on our previous visits.
The meal prices are still 35 Euros per adult, which I think is fine, but even better is the rate of 10 Euros per child. That is excellent value for a character meal, with free drinks plus the entertainment of the balloon lady and pianist.

I was borderline disappointed with the character interaction this time. Only the 4 characters came out, but only 2 came to our table. On both occasions when Gideon got to our section he waved at us but went backstage without visiting us. Mickey waved but made a rolling motion with his hand to indicate change of character, so I sort of expected the next characters to come to us first, but they didn't. My dtr was quite philosophical about it and the excellent food made up for it.

I would eat at the buffet here even if there were no characters about - I just love the food.

We ate here on Sunday 11th January at 6pm. Sorry, I didn't take any photos of the food! The waitress who greeted us was quite grumpy and not at all welcoming. She turned away a family who asked if The Steakhouse took premium vouchers.:confused3 Our waiter was nice and as we were escorted to our table I noticed that about 3 other families were there. It got a lot busier by the time we left.

The Food: We had hb+ vouchers and these covered the total cost of the meal.

DH and I both had carrot and coriander soup. This was lovely. My only criticism was that we were given a straw to drink it with, and the only time I've ever had to drink soup through a straw was when I had all my wisdom teeth taken out.:lmao: Dh had steak and chips for his main and he really enjoyed this. I had the vegetarian option which was ravioli (surprise surprise) and it was lovely. I couldn't finish it as there was so much of it. The children had Shepherd's Pie. They ate most of it, but didn't seem that keen. The side-salad was soaked in dressing, so unless your kids like this, I would suggest asking for fries instead. For dessert DH and I both had the apple pie and ice-cream. This was like an apple pasty - yum. One of the girls had the chocolate cream dessert (she liked it but didn't go mad for it) the other one had the chocolate cup and fruit salad. She didn't finish this because the fruit salad was swimming in juice and had made the chocolate cup all soggy. We all had soft drinks which were covered by our voucher.

All in all, I would say that this was a nice meal. The children's choices did not include any of the old favourites like nuggets, although there was a hamburger. I recall beef casserole and cod, I think. The restaurant itself had great décor and a relaxed atmosphere. I would recommend it as good value for the hb+ vouchers.

We ate here in December, it was a really enjoyable meal. Using the HB plus vouchers we both had steak for the main course and I had salad for starters, which was very nice and similar to the salad I had from Walts and the Silver Spur.

This is a pic of the cappucino style carrot soup my fiance had for starters, it's the only photograph we took of the food!

My fiance is upset as this meal has ruined steak for her as it was perfect, she says.
