Wearing makeup to the parks

Well, for every trip I never wear makeup but I am always so disappointed with the outcome of my pictures. I get to shiny in the florida heat so I think I am going to try some make up from now on ;)
I am hoping it works!

I have very oily skin and rarely leave without some kind of powder on my face - but for Disney, I get so much sun on my face that it doesn't matter! I can remember my sister - oh, hello Karyn! - putting on a full regimen of makeup and fixing up her hair when we were teenagers, but over the past couple of visits, even she uses less and less. I usually slap on some powder and jam a hat on my head and say, "I'm ready!"

I don't wear make-up. I did more when I was in high school, and my first summer home from college I worked in an Ulta, and bought myself some Bare Escentuals. However, since then my make-up wearing has declined. I might wear some during my next trip, but it will depend on my mood. I tend to look fine in pictures without make-up. I'm not in the practice of wearing it though, so it doesn't bother me to see myself in pictures without it. The only time I look really bad in pictures is if it rains, or I go on a water ride, and don't have a brush with me. My hair goes loco and my face looks funny too, but that's just how it goes...

Mrs Aardvarks puts on basic makeup only for the parks. It takes her about 5 mins tops after she gets out of the shower.

From memory, she just uses a foundation with sunscreen and some eyeshadow and waterproof mascara. She rarely wears lipstick. Non of this is special grade, just the regular Boots UK brand.

After 25 years of marriage, she still looks good to me

I think this is the sweetest post I have EVER read on these or any other message boards! :goodvibes

About makeup, I usually take a break on vacation, but I must admit I was not happy with our pictures last trip. My next trip will be solo, so the only pictures will be the ones I take, but maybe if I go with kids again, I'll break down and wear a little.

Didn't wear much make- up the first year, but looking back at the pictures was just frightening. I need powder to avoid serious shine from sun cream. I've never had any problems with mascara. Just need to make sure that I wear waterproof for all the rain and water rides.

I used to wear Bare Escentuals, but after a while I had a reaction to one of the ingredients and my skin became very itchy in the heat.
That is so interesting because the same thing happened to me! Every time I was out in the heat long enough to get sweaty, my face would start to itch and burn. Last year, we were at Disney for a week in June, and by the 4th day, my face had broken out in a rash. I finally figured out it was the Bare Escentuals make-up. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who had that problem.

Now I wear Revlon Color-Stay mineral foundation with Cargo Melt-Proof bronzer. I like it a lot, and my make-up really stays put all day. I can't wait to see how it does at Disney in 2 weeks!

That's me...the girl in the parks with makeup! I don't go anywhere without makeup lol...plus we always take ten billion pictures so you bet I'm looking my best lol......my makeup never melts off.

You took the words right out of my mouth! :thumbsup2

Last year I did not wear make up to the parks. This year, I am certain I'll be wearing tinted moisturizer and mascara at least. I've gotten to the point in life where I, too, fear I will scare small children without my makeup.

I don't need makeup at WDW. I use very little anyway and I feel that at WDW I am so HAPPY I glow! I have and never will be a beauty queen but happiness truly IS the best cosmetic and when I am at WDW my happiness shines through. :)

We're usually at the parks when it's hotter than you know what!

The extent of my make-up is sunblock and waterproof mascara. Anything else doesn't last longer than the time it takes walking from our room to the bus!:lmao:

I prefer the feel of a makeup w/ high SPF to a sunscreen w/ high SPF (even the higher-end facial sunscreens). I usually wear a sheer makeup base but I'm trying out Bare Minerals starting this week :) I hope it will work well in Florida in August!

As I'm on the far side of 40 my skin has gone wonky on me. No one should have wrinkles, dry skin AND zits at the same time! I like something sheer/light to even out my skin tone.

I have seen so many pictures of women in the parks wearing a full face of makeup and it just baffles me! Why wear makeup to a theme park? How do you get it to stay on and not melt in the heat?

Why?

Because I respect other people and don't want any one to have to look at me without my makeup.

Because I always try to look my best whenever I leave my house.

Because I'm an avid scrapbooker and takes lots of photos and don't want to put myself in my scrapbook looking like a sick, pale person with no eyelashes, no eyebrows and no lips.

Because I want my face to have a little sun protection, which I get from my makeup.

Because a theme park isn't a good enough excuse to keep me from wearing it.

That enough reasons? :flower3:

i always wear makeup, everyday unless i'm sick  and yes even on vacation, why wouldn't i?
vacation is just another reason for me to pack up my makeup in pretty vera bradley travel bags and have fun.

I wear make-up to the parks.....I wear a "primer" or "On a Clear Day" with BE on top of that so I still have a treatment on my skin, no shine as well as an SPF of 20.
Light neutral eyeshadow & mascara......As far as lips go an SPF sheer lipstick.
Nobody should have melting make up it means the product isn't applied correctly, it is past it's shelf life or just to heavy to start.

This is very different than what I wear to a luncheon or board meeting.

For my trip in September I plan to use Mary Kay's tinted moisturizer with SPF20) with a light layer of Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundation on top (I've never tried any of the other brands mentioned). I love their cream to powder eye color; it is so easy and gives a finished look. Maybe a touch of gloss over a sun block lip balm.

I know Mary Kay's eye liners and lip liners are water resistant, meaning they won't come off an Splash Mountain. And their waterproof mascara is tri-athlete tested to stay put.
:cutie:

You can go to marykay.com to find a consultant near you to order from. They have online shopping with no charge shipping or delivery.

I have rosacea as well, which is actually another reason why I don't wear makeup at the parks. I look at vacation as being a vacation for my skin from makeup, even though at home I use BE. I do slather on loads of sunblock and wear a hat to shade my skin.

Thanks for some great suggestions in this thread, . . i might try the tube mascara though i don't always wear mascara. I'm going to disney in 1 week and i'll probably apply the SPF spray foundation from MAC. IT goes on pretty smooth but i haven't tested it in the heat :confused3

Let me contribute my tips

If you have steady hands and are okay with using a small paintbrush then use MAC's Liquid Eyeliner. IT is SOOOOo waterproof i can shower and swim in it. The downside to this is it's TOO waterproof (yes there is such a thing ;) ) and so you have to use an OIL based make up remover to remove it. It is also 'dangerous' b/c if you make a mistake and dont' have an oil based remover, you'd basically have to rub your eyelids RAW to fix it! Of course if yu don't really give a flying rats butt then you can just leave it on over night. My friend who works in MAC tell sme that it's bad for me buttt, . . . meh:cool2:

that's gonna be one of my MAIN things (NEVER w/o eyeliner), . . lipbalm (was gonna wear lip gloss but i need the protection instead), and blush but i expect it to disappear midday = )

I put myself in the girly girl category and I wear make up almost everywhere I go. I love makeup! Sephora is my favorite store. The exceptions are exercising in the park or tubing down the river. I also flat iron my hair everyday - I'm an expert and have it down to a science. If I didn't, my hair would just frizz, not curl, frizz.

I live in a very humid area so I'm used to Florida like weather. In the summers I do have a bit of a tan on my face so I don't have to use as much foundation as I usually do. My recipe to keep my make up on is the BE foundation primer, a little mineral veil, foundation and well rested concealer, an other layer of mineral veil and then my blush.

Currently I wear Dior Show mascara but it does smudge a bit so I'm on the look out for something new that gives me full, long lashes. When I do know that I'm going to be getting wet, I use Urban Decay lingere and galoshes. I use the galoshes part and put it over my regular mascara. It works wonderfully!

Last summer when I went to WDW, I ran into two different groups of people that I know and we took lots of pictures. I just like to put my best self out there and I like looking back and actually enjoying the pictures from my trip.

For those of you that get itchy skin when wearing BE, I have heard that the mineral veil does contain some corn starch. That could be why you are itchy.

As I'm on the far side of 40 my skin has gone wonky on me. No one should have wrinkles, dry skin AND zits at the same time!

:lmao: :lmao: OMG..I so hear you on this one! I'm getting botox at the same time I'm starting a prescription med to reduce acne!

I'm much more confused by the women who wear heels... but to each their own. MY feet would be screaming at me, though!

I always wear makeup... even to WDW :)
